Totally agree.If you have the money, get some good insoles that cater to those with flat feet. Typically they will be firmer and you might have to take some time to get used to them, but will work wonders for you. If you want to stick to nike, I would try the lunar eclipse, zoom structure. If you want to venture out the asics kayano comes in all black and come in wide and have the stability needed for those with flat feet. These may a bit pricy, but if you want to take care of your feet and look fresh I would try the new balance 990.
You sound like my younger brother, For being flat footed you could either get custom insoles (more $$$) or invest in Superfeet insoles (different types to fit your needs), Being wide footed can be a pain, ususally you go a half size up from your normal shoe size. Different shoes have different fits so do research as well as go instore to try shoes on. In nikes they can narrow for a lot of wide footed folks, brands like Asics and New balance offer wide shoes (mainly runners), Nike actually has wide sizes but you have to contact them about it.
