Dallas Mavericks 2015-2016 Season Thread

Parsons was one of the three 3's I wanted us to get this off-season (between him, Ariza and Deng), but that contract... Yikes. I mean, I understand why they made it so high, but that's too much to be paying him right now, even for a young player on the upside. I'm not sure how Cuban expects to get Dirk another ring when there's barely any money left to sign anyone good. ...That's assuming Houston doesn't match, anyway.

With all that said, we still have a bigger problem: Raymond Felton. He needs to go. If we get another point guard, I'd still prefer Devin to come off the bench since the chemistry between him and Wright was great last season. Those alley oops were a problem for a lot of teams. I really hope we don't get rid of Wright because of any incoming free agents.
Dirk is making less than Parsons would...how is this real life?

Felton and Ellis's contracts are player options. I see Felton opting in, but Ellis may opt out to get a bigger contract.

RFAs always get paid more though. The structure of it forces teams that sign them to an offer sheet to offer a huge number, just in hopes of the incumbent team not matching. My only fear is that LBJ takes too long to decide, pushing Bosh's decision back, and ultimately forcing Houston to match and keep Parsons rather than potentially ending up with nothing. I hope our near-max offer was enough.

If the Parsons signing goes though I'm a big fan. Yes the contract $ is crazy but he's a very good player and mixes well with who we have now

I hope Monta doesn't leave Dallas while Carlisle is there. Great situation and coach for him.

Monta is gonna get paid next year... Felton will improve under Carlisle. He has always had subpar coaching and last year he had a bad divorce he was going through and other issues.

Even if Houston matches the offer, they have to trade away Lin (they were planning to regardless) and have to shed a couple other players, namely Motiejunas (Mavs could scoop him up as a backup to dirk). They will be financially crippled with their contracts to Dwight and Harden as well so they could plateau. We would still have money to go get Deng, Ariza, or Stephenson if the price is right.

The more I think about it the less crazy the money seems.. I mean hell, the Rockets have deals like up with teams to take Jeremy Lin at that rate for this year.

He's going to give us value on the court and as a potential trade piece down the line. On a short-term deal, I'm fine with it.

I think there is a no-trade clause in his contract.

There's a trade kicker, but lots of players have those and they can be worked Around depending on how steep it is.

He has a 15% trade kicker. Cuban configured this contract to make it as unappealing as possible to Houston to match. Player-option after 2nd year though. I like this really aggressive move. Just hope it works out.

Also, to get a no-trade clause, you have to have at least 8 years of NBA experience and at least 4 with the team that you sign with. Only Dirk, Kobe, KG, and Duncan have it in their contracts.

I can only hope Felton pulls a turnaround like Monta and less like Odom.

If Houston matches, the rights of the FAs we renounce to sign Parsons are effectively "un-renounced". So we still have a contingency plan.

I doubt it'll happen, but I really want to see the Mavs make an effort to re-sign Marion. Yeah, he's the reason we need an upgrade at the 3, but I think he can still be effective as a back-up. He was coming off the bench before Caron Butler got hurt in 2011, so that wouldn't be an issue. Plus, it'd be nice to see some loyalty from the franchise after all the talk last season about wanting to keep him. He's the only one besides Dirk who has been with the team since the Championship run, too...

So apparently the offer sheet hasn't been signed yet... possibility of a sign and trade going on.

Looks like the deadline would've been 5pm Sunday anyway, so they're trying to entertain potential offers without losing any time. No idea what we could do, unless they're looking for a Felton salary dump. Maybe Crowder?

Anyone notice how similar Gal Mekel and Parsons look?

He's the Israeli version of him lol
Oh, and yeah. I noticed this immediately after we signed Mekel last summer.

The ladies will be swooning over our team now.

Appears Parsons and Felton are already getting along.
Gold.
If Devin and Jet can start in a backcourt that got to the Finals so could Monta and Lance.
That was a different time though. Sure the West has always been tough, but it's only gotten tougher each year. In Dirk's Grantland dinner with Nash, he even mentioned that the 06 team probably would get demolished against some of the teams today.

Bye bye Parsons

Born Ready?

Bosh re-ups with MIA. Lin and a 1st round pick gone. Does Morey want to match and lock up their cap space next summer with even more loaded FA class?

I hope they don't match.
