Dallas Mavericks 2015-2016 Season Thread

If we can sign Matrix, I'd go with him over Mo Williams and not think twice.

Monta and Chandler are going to play 35+ every night. Shawn gives you added flexibility to further limit Dirk's minutes when you need to throughout the season because he can play the 4 for stretches.

Still wish there was a way, any way, we could work Marion AND Jameer into this group. That'd be a group we could go to battle with.

That's a good point about Ellis and Parsons. Our rotations would be a little weird.

Crowder backing up Ellis? Marion splitting time backing up the 3 and 4, but where do Jefferson, Wright, and Lewis fit in? Either way, looks like we have several options to decrease Dirk's minutes this season. It's nice to say that for once.

If rather play Jefferson as a spot up stand and shoot guy than Crowder. I think Crowder is completely worthless.

Wright will get 20-25 behind Dirk and Tyson.

Crowder's offense definitely leaves something to be desired. Carlisle must think he's improved / improving this summer to not make him play in the summer league though. I don't see Jefferson getting a lot of minutes, just because of how much trust Carlisle has in Crowder. Just look at how much he's played the past 2 seasons.

Hoping Greg Smith can step up big as a backup 5, too. Could be one of our best center tandems since 2011 with Chandler / Haywoodyablowme.

Just saw this on newly-signed Eric Griffin. He might have a roster spot yet, not just a training camp invite:

Per dallasbasketball.com:

We've learned that his three-year deal with Dallas contains $150,000 in guaranteed money the first season. While not a big amount in NBA-contract terms, it's certainly enough to hint that the Mavs expect they'll keep him when the season starts. At the same time, the lack of any guarantee in Years 2 and 3 does make it easy for them to go a different direction down the road, if he doesn't develop as they expect

What the heck..

Forward Rashard Lewis will have knee surgery soon, a source told Yahoo. Lewis has previously agreed to sign with Dallas.

^saw that. Hopefully he will be ready in 10 weeks but if not the contract is can be canceled a la what happened with d Harris and his toe last year.

Meeting with jameer nelson tomorrow... hopefully he will take the 2.7 offer good leader too. Word on the street is that the mavs have also given that 2.7 offer to ray allen who's still undecided on returning this year

I agree on bledsoe... Mavs should take a hard look at dragic next off season.

Mavs voided rashard Lewis' contract today... looks like we have another mil to spend/save

I thought Lewis was on a vet min contract? Don't think there's a cap hit for that but makes things interesting. Do we wait and see how quickly he recovers, just like Harris? Or do we fill his spot with another backup 4.

More minutes for Dirk at this point..

Maybe that can open up the doors for Marion to come back?

eh maybe wishful thinking... but the other forwards/centers out there don't sound so good:

Andray Blatche

Al Farooq Aminu

Michael Beasley

Jermaine Oneal

Emeka Okafor

Francisco Garcia

Yeah, I'd only consider Okafor on a min contract, due to his recent injury history.

I'd like to see Mo/Jameer and Marion. Marion at 20 mpg as a backup would be great. I want to see him finish his career with the Mavs. Heck, he's already building a mansion in Dallas, why not just stay?

Barring an unforseen snag, Mavs on course to land Jameer Nelson to fortify their backcourt on a deal via Dallas' $2.7 million room exception

Jameer Nelson is "on track" to sign with the Mavericks after his meeting on Thursday.

It's a great fit for both sides with the Mavericks having to deal with Raymond Felton while they could also use a guard who is a plus 3-point shooter. Nelson gets a chance to contribute for a contender and should be able to get plenty of chances to score in double figures. His usage rate isn't going to be too high and he's never really put up eye-popping assist totals, so he's more of a late-round pick in fantasy leagues.

Very nice... think he is a better facilitator/ locker room guy than Mo Williams.

Great deal. He's an athletic, defensive wing, which is what we were missing. Looks like we're moving Harris to the backup 2 spot and will be running more 2 PG sets like Phoenix and Toronto.

Nelson - Felton - Mekel

Ellis - Harris - Ledo

Parsons - Crowder - Jefferson

Nowitzki - Wright - Aminu

Chandler - Smith

Not sure what's actually going to happen with Griffin, but I think this is a solid rotation. Spacing provided by Parsons, Nelson, and Dirk. Finishers at the rim with Ellis, Parsons, and Chandler. Ballhanders / creators at the 1-3 spots. I'm so excited!

I thought he was pretty good with the Clippers. Forgot that you guys got Parsons too.. going to be an interesting season.

Feeling more and more like Chand is going to have a career year with the added motivation, sleights from Beard and the Houston FO.
