Dallas Mavericks 2015-2016 Season Thread

I just think the end is inevitable. The mavs can very well make this a 6 game series but a title or even a deep playoff run just isn't going to happen. 2011 Dirk isn't walking through that door. It's probably time to start thinking about the next 3 years and not the next 3 games.

it's going to be tough to make the playoffs next season if this current team is healthy. As a partial fan, I'm cool with 2 finals, and 15 years of being a top 5 franchise.

As a partial fan, you might not know that Cuban won't ever let that happen. He cares a lot about the product that he puts on the court. He'll continue to do so until at least Dirk retires (in at least 2 years).

On paper, this team has a lot of talent. One thing they are missing is time. If you look at the other Western Conference playoff teams, they've all played together for at least 2 years. Dallas has tried to integrate 3 new starters while dealing with a trade and major injuries (Rondo facial fracture, Parsons knee/ankle, and various other smaller injuries).

I'd like to see this group back together. A summer for both Rondo and Parsons to work with Holger would help immensely.

Tk I'd agree with you if Dirk was 30 and not 36. Right now, he should be a third option. I'm not a believer in anything related to Monta and or Rondo, not with a 36 year old Dirk.

And I pretty sure Cuban and Donnie won't blow it up completely but they have to at least consider it. Rondo and Carlisle can't coexist. Monta is probably best as a 6th man.

Rondo purposely tanked a playoff game.

Waaaay worse than Odom. If I see Rondo in the street I'm snuffing him

Cuban has always said we are either going to be really good or really bad.

At what point does Dirk even want to keep playing he's said he don't want to fight for the 8th seed in his last years

I wouldn't be shocked at all if Dirk retired.

If that happens it's full blown tank time

If it's just me and him he's catching the fade on sight

Srs
I'm with you... his effort just isn't there.

Crazy how the game was competitive with Ray felton and jj and aminu. Mavs need more players with heart that are 2 way players. Rondo walking and at this point I'd let Monta walk too if he's gonna command 12mil+.

This team will never have the tank mentality with cuban at the helm but they need to start getting younger and bringing some defensive mentality and more rim protection. Tyson can't do it alone

Aminu has been my guy all year. I thought he should have taken some of Parsons minutes even when he was healthy

If it comes down to Rondo vs Monta returning, I feel like Cuban and Donnie might lean towards Rondo (depending on how true this Rondo or Carlisle ultimatum is). There are plenty of scorers in this league but not very many good defenders. It's so frustrating to see Monta getting caught in no man's land on defense so often.

Aminu plays really well against Houston. That chase down block he had last night was amazing. I'd like to see him start and bringing RJ off the bench if Parsons can't go.

no way Rondo returns... he's already booking his ticket to LA. Regarding monta... he's our guy but you really have took take a hard look at throwing big money at him going forward. He's a slasher, never been an amazing shooter, and barring an injury and age kicking in he could be a liability going forward especially because he doesn't have defensive prowess. I'd take a look at chris Middleton or some other guys in free agency. Resign Tyson, jj, and aminu (if he opts out) everyone else is replaceable.

No way you bring Rondo back, I would just bury him on the bench for this playoffs and let him walk. Ride with the guys who want to play.

Kills me seeing all these guys just throwing brick after brick up when in 2011, dudes like Kidd, Terry and "better back then" Barea were able to make those jumpers.

So if the cap rises to the projected $67.1MM, we have (approximate and estimated numbers):

Parsons: 15MM

Dirk: 8MM

Devin: 4MM

Powell: 850k

Felton (player option): 4MM

= ~32MM in guaranteed money

That leaves ~35MM to re-sign Tyson (12MM), AFA (4MM), Amare (5MM), with 14MM left for the rest of the roster, if Monta opts out. If he doesn't, that drops us to 6MM to cover a starting PG, and 5 rotation players at the min.

This feels like it's leading up to another Jameer-like scenario next summer. Again these numbers are just estimates, but I wanted to get the idea across that without taking advantage of bird rights, we're not in terrific position for next season. I also didn't look up the cap holds for Rondo and Tyson if we did re-sign them, but bird rights are meant to help a team retain its FAs. We could do a S&T with Rondo, but who would we want from LA/NY?

Not looking too pretty... I would like Monta back in Jet like role but he wants to start and there's a bunch of teams out there who are more than willing to give him big bucks and start him. Amare is also a question mark even though he has played good for us. The only player who I could see in a sign and trade deal for Rondo from the Lakers being appealing is Ed Davis. Trading Parsons is not an option either as I see many fans barking on twitter to trade him for DWill lol...

Parsons has the trade kicker that makes him unappealing. Ed Davis also wouldn't solve the lack of a solid PG option.

Dallas Mavericks rule out guard Rajon Rondo indefinitely

Monta has no excuse for not going off now.

Our options at PG next year are so limited... Pat Bev isn't gonna sign with us.. Dragic gone to the heat. Reggie Jackson is not that bad but commands a lot of money.. Mo Williams looks realistic
