Dallas Mavericks 2015-2016 Season Thread

This, all of this. Mavs need another big man before the playoffs.
I think having another big would definitely help. Greg Smith has played decently in a backup role, but it seems like he has the Dalembert pizza hands syndrome at times. Jermaine O'neal, hurry your *** up!

We also just need a better effort in the rebounding department. We're consistently getting outrebounded. It hurts when we can't finish defensive possessions with a defensive rebound. With Dallas emphasising less wear and tear on Dirk (read: less focus on him getting rebounds), Parsons needs to step up his rebounding game.

Defensive rotations have also been bad. Seems like opposing offenses can quickly get us out of sorts with a few extra passes. This might just take more time, as the team continues to gel. Again, I believe Parsons can step it up here as well. He got playing time as a rookie and sophomore because of his defensive effort, so the ability is there. He's just gotta get back to it.

Even with TC averaging like 13 boards a game, we still get outrebounded badly ...the PF and SF positions has got to help TC or he'll be wore out before the playoffs. I also believe the defensive rotations will get better once Rondo gets a little more familiar with this team. Rondo has got to get better with his pick and roll with Dirk, b/c as of right now it doesn't work as Rondo can't hit the broad side of a barn right now.

Yep, teams play so far of off Rondo, it's disrespectful. I don't see a lot of rebounding out of the 4 position unless Aminu is used as a 4 in smaller lineups. It's really about effort when it comes to rebounding. Everyone can't try to leak out on the fast break while relying on Tyson to secure the rebound.

Big game tonight mavs fam. Not been looking too great lately... know alot of fans hitting the panic button smh

I disagree than Rondo doesn't fit. Sure, the lack of shooting hurts our spacing, but having a strong perimeter defender is crucial to succeeding and advancing in the playoffs.

He did a great job on Harden. He's respected as a defender by refs, so that gives him leeway with the refs. He can body up and play more aggressively without getting called for ticky-tack fouls. Obviously, we did terrible on defensive rotations out to the 3 point line, which burned us. Turnovers were a big deal as well.

Since the trade, I believe we've dropped from 1st to 7th in offensive rating, but improved from 20th to 7th in defensive rating as well. I'll take that balance any day.

I agree. Dallas fans so fast to turn on the team after a couple hard losses lol

Mavs have always lacked in defense, so bringing in a defensive minded PG is a step in the right direction... we have plenty of offensive firepower to ebb and flow that loss of shooting.

The problem with the team right now is whether their bench shows up during those critical minutes the starters are out.... and rebounding of course.

Gonna be interesting seeing Ray Felton get some meaningful minutes against some good teams this week.

With chemistry and Jermaine coming after the All Star Break this team could be a problem come April.

I just hope Stat's body can hold up and be productive for 16 minutes a night, no expectations at all.

Would have rather went after Brook Lopez tho.

there's no way we would have gotten lopez and taken his bloated contract

Rondo is not going anywhere and I believe he agreed to resign with the Mavs before the trade from Boston.

Dragic is much more of a scorer than Rondo, and would murder teams on the Dirk PnR ...but you aint stopping nobody with a back court of Monte and Dragic. :smh:

Another thing I just found out, Dragic wants to go to a big market team and listed, LA, NY, or MIA so he can get more exposure and a max deal. No way he deserves a max deal, Rondo doesn't deserve a max deal either.

JaVale gone to Philly.

If Lopez go the OKC, maybe Perkins come to here with the help of Rondo? ....Mavs are in need of another big man although I don't want/like Perk.

We need a scorer/shooter off the bench and K-Mart could fill that void, if Minny buy him out.  Love playing GM this time every year.
hell no to perk plus he ai t going anywhere.

K mart ain't getting bought out.

Lol javale is getting bought out from Philly they don't want him. We should hop on that

Fit has definitely been rough with Rondo so far. Parsons has been most affected by it, imo. He had to adjust to playing with Dirk and Monta (struggled early), re-adjust to playing with Rondo, back to without Rondo, and now back to Rondo. Parsons is the biggest x-factor in the team being successful.

Chemistry obviously isn't something you can build overnight or even across 20 games. It takes time. The injury to Rondo made it that much harder, especially with only 25 games left. Don't give up just yet though. As long as these guys hit their stride going into the playoffs, they'll be a dangerous team.

I also agree that Dragic would've also been a great fit. He's a younger version of Calderon that can actually finish at the hoop and would've provided the same spacing for Monta that Jose did. However, our biggest issues this season have been perimeter defense and rebounding - 2 areas that Rondo definitely helps with. There's no way we could've planned back in December for Dragic to flip a switch and demand a trade. You take advantage of opportunities that present themselves, and we traded the worst starting PG in the league for a defensive, pass-first PG. Just remember how frustrating it was to see Jameer get swallowed up when going under picks and consistently get burned every night.

preach!

fans quick to pin Parsons or Rondo as the scapegoat... this team is just gonna get better as the year goes on.

Parsons out the next 3 games... hopefully Aminu gets more burn than Rich Jeff... Raptors and Hawks gonna be tough games.

1-0 with Amare.

Seriously though, I like what I saw from him tonight. 14 points and 3 boards in 11 minutes. I thought the signing was questionable, but he surprisingly fits in pretty well with the team so far.
