Dallas Mavericks 2015-2016 Season Thread

I went to the game tonight.

Amare is exactly what we needed.

Rondo can fit if he's an offensive threat he has to at least be a threat.

I'm praying that Dirk is just taking it easy until the playoffs and isn't washed

Amar'e provides the spark that BWright did. Not nearly as athletic, but he's a big that can score off the bench. His ability to pick and roll / pop works well with Rondo, Ellis, Harris, Barea, and Parsons (so many playmakers!) as the set-up man. One contributing factor to our historic offensive rating at the beginning of the season was that we didn't lose production when subbing in BWright for Tyson. Amar'e should help bring some of that offensive firepower back, as well as provide rebounding out of the second unit.

Don't know about yall, but I'd much rather have Rondo, Amare, and an emerging Aminu over Nelson, BWright, and Crowder.

By the way, in case you missed it, RJ turned back the clock tonight! Listen to Skin Wade's reaction, haha. The whole arena was buzzing after this. Can't believe the ref called an offensive foul.

Is that really a legit debate at this point

PG was a glaring weakness w/ Jameer even with having the high offensive ratings and Rondo is a clear upgrade and superior facilitator.

Losing B-Wright sucked but gotta give up something to get something and getting Rondo had higher upside And now the Mavs been fortunate enough to get Amare to replace Wright.

Just gotta spend rest of season having the new core gel and jockey for 4-5 seed (3 would be great but I think 4-5 they'd be fine) and stay healthy.

Brandon Wright used to get thrown around by any big with bulk.

Not saying Amare is some great rebounder but that's just not gonna happen with him.

I know its one game and only 12 minutes but you can just see Amare is going to cook.

Aminu is my favorite bench player we've had maybe ever. I don't count Nick Van Exel or JET as bench players because they played starters minutes.

Agreed. Made that point because so many people dislike the Rondo trade. Dallas's ability to score at such as high pace hid a lot of our weaknesses early on in the season. There was a game back in December when we got blown out at home by GSW. My head damn near exploded at how terrible Jameer looked against Curry.

Yep, Wright just can't survive against the bigger frontlines in the NBA (e.g., Memphis). Hopefully Dallas's medical / training staff can keep Amar'e healthy enough for the rest of the season.

I don't think anyone hates the Rondo trade in and of itself.

Rondo just hasn't met expectations as a Mav.

Yea, I've noticed that too on people saying Rondo trade was a mistake or that he's a bad fit.

One of my friends still on that notion just b/c we lost the Harris-Wright pick and roll :smh:

The team we had at beginning of season; while we were at a very good pace record wise; they just seemed artificial and reminiscent of past small-ball Mavs teams even with Tyson.

Like you said, our weaknesses then were masked by crazy offensive numbers and we were likely due for a first round ouster if we continued having Jameer as our starting PG.

This current team is going to take its lumps and have its smh moments but everyone just has to gel and stay healthy and this team can be a sleeper come playoff time.

It's been really hard for me to admit this, but I've come to the realization that Dirk is just getting old. He really hasn't been playing up to his usual standards, IMO. It sucks because he was pretty much shooting 40/50/90 last season. I hate to say it (especially since he's my favorite player), but the days of Dirk consistently scoring 20 PPG are pretty much over with.

I was coming back to the thread to post that Richard Jefferson video, haha. Just look at the reaction of the Hornets' bench. RJ might just have won Dunk of the Year.

Yeah, reminiscent of the Big 3 (Dirk, Nash, and Fin) days back in the early 2000s when our best defense was our offense. This helped Nellie win a lot of regular season games, but defense wins championships.

Hoping to see Playoff Rondo make a huge impact.

Funny that Dirk had more rebounds than Tyson tonight, and Tyson had more points. We'll need to continue getting strong rebounding from the 3 and 4 spots to be successful. I'm tired of getting outrebounded so often.

Over the last week I've watched a lot Mavs youtube vids and dude doesn't look the same from just last year. He flat out can't move even in comparison to last year.

I don't know if he's just old or its an injury

My boy I went to the game with is already saying Amare should start in Dirk's spot

Amare will never ever replace Dirk as a starter unless he's injured.

You clearly see Rick calling the play each and every time, once Rondo gets his confidence back and learn the playbook so he can run the offense instead of RC, only then will the Rondo trade look like a no brainer.

No disrespect to Amar'e, but it's ridiculous that anyone thinks Amar'e should start over Dirk. Our offense is predicated on the spacing / gravity that Dirk provides. Without him, Tyson wouldn't get the kinds of rolls to the rims that he gets, and Monta woudn't get the spacing to drive to the rim either.

Dirk has shown signs of age this year. He's getting old, but still averaging 18ppg on a very balanced team. When Rick figures out how to stagger his lineups with Amar'e, we'll be even more dangerous.

Rondo has had a hard time adjusting to our flow offense, so those set plays are really necessary. I agree that he'll be great, much like Kidd was in his second stint here, where he essentially was a coach in the game. Hoping that comes sooner than later, in time for the final push to the playoffs.

Crowder is a big reason the C's are even in the mix to grab a 7 or 8 seed this year . I've really enjoyed watching him these last several weeks . Cooking again tonight

Dude is flourishing but I would still do the trade

Next 10 days is where we make our push

I think people often forget Crowder was a baller at Marquette - Big East Player of the Year during his senior year. His role with the Mavs was more 3-and-D, and he hadn't developed a consistent outside shot until this season. I'm glad he's exploded. The trade worked out for him and will hopefully net him a good contract this summer.

Agreed, definitely would still do the trade. Obviously it hasn't worked out as well as fans have hoped, but let's see what happens in the playoffs. Trading 3 role players for a player of Rondo's caliber is a risk I'd take any day.

I do like that Rick is letting him run some of the offense off the block. It's a nice wrinkle to the offensive scheme. Next 10 days will be very telling - Blazers, GSW, Cavs, Clippers. Even the week after includes games against the Thunder and Grizz. We'll need to go at least .500 to stay afloat. Get your popcorn ready fellas.

Kinda creepy, hah. Where is that from?

Big matchup tonight against Memphis too, guys. Thoughts on how well Rondo's been running the offense? I wonder if this was Rick's plan all along.

Just how it is fam', let it go.
They're just tying to get clicks & reads.
How they get payed, don't support them.
I'll skip a few articles now and again.
Spurs game is crucial, we need this W.
Can't believe we let the Suns beat us smh...

best win of the year last night. Great to see Monta get out of his slump and Parsons played a great all around game. Now let's see how good we really are Friday

I just want a run of playing well.

Last night was the best defensive effort of the season.

We have to get at least one home playoff round.
