Why isn't there any overtime in soccer World Cup elimination games?

After 90 minutes of time, plus 30 minutes of extra time, with only 3 subs... The game has to end eventually. Goals aren't easy to come by, continuing to play extra time street extra time just wouldn't be feasible imo.

Don't think you guys understand how exhausted players are after 90 minutes+ stoppage time + 30 ET.

It's not baseball, arguably the laziest sport in the world. Besides the pitcher/catcher, you literally stand/sit there for 3 hours.

Basketball has unlimited subs and you play in doors with air conditioning (barring malfunction).

Hockey .. there's subs like every 10 seconds.

Football games average 11 minutes of action.

Soccer players have to run 7-10 miles a game, with no breaks besides half time. (albeit there is a bit of standing around).

There used to be golden goal, but officials found that teams would rather PREVENT a goal than scoring one.

Incorrect about hockey (I understand the exaggeration but 2nd most tiring sport bhind soccer IMO) but do appreciate the info at the end. I was going to ask why OT wasn't sudden death

I like PKs, but I think they should move the ball back a bit so the goalie has a slightly better shot to block the kick. I think just a 10% improvement would make it even more exciting.

They would never do this though.
I wholeheartedly agree.
