NYC Cops beat and arrest man for sleeping on the train coming from work

 Refusing to show your ID is one thing... getting physical with the Police is another.
I'm not sure we watched the same video. Police have him backed into a corner, and keep physically assaulting him... But you say it's the other way around? People have rights. Even though he is not helping his situation, he is still being mistreated by the police.

 Bruh.... the video conveniently starts mid conflict... then this dude continued to tussle with the cops for 6 minutes that we can see.

There's a right way and a wrong way to deal with the Police.... this dude did just about everything wrong.

So your saying he provoked the Police, and then the camera came on and captured the rest? Lol. Cops were obviously harassing dude, not the other way around.

There is a right way and a wrong way for Police to deal with citizens.

If you don't feel entitled to your rights, that's cool. But there are plenty of people who do.

Obviously harassing him ? I didn't see that because as I stated earlier, this video was filmed by his wife/gf and conveniently starts mid conflict.

Then as they applied the cufffs he starts saying to the camerawoman "we gon eat baby".... it's not out of the question to think he may have provoked them intentionally.

Man, my shoulder dislocates real easily from previous skiing and soccer accidents.

I can't wait till cops come touch me on some bs like that and pop it out of place tryingn to hand cuff me.

I agree that he simply should've explained his situation calmly and showed them his ID, granted he did nothing wrong he would've been left alone unscaved. dude was just so shocked and offended that the cops asked for his ID and questioned him knowing he was innocent that he decided to wild out. you gotta be smart when dealing with these cops, dumb muscle is never the way to go since they have plenty of that to go around

you do NOT have to show your ID though.

WTF is this? Nazi ******* Germany?

Got no problem with cops like this getting shot in the line of duty.

OD, yes. But I'm not a fan of bullies in a position of power on a power trip.

Please note I said cops like the cops in this video, not all cops for those who conveniently like to only quote part of a post to make it look a certain way.

w/e bruh, that MO gets old.

listen, do I know that individually there are good cops? yes, one of whom is our NT brethren.

but it's like this though, in life, who and what you represent are a reflection of you.

Police Unions make up some of the most powerful lobbies in America.

These Unions lobby to keep the war on drugs going, to keep quotas going, this keeps funding high and officer demand high.

IF the war on drugs and quotas were done away with, if stop and frisk in NY was completely done away with, there would be less arrests, less non-violent offenders pouring through the system, less court cases, less precinct funding, less officers needing to be hired and ultimately a less potent police union.

It's in their best interest to create crime where there isn't any. It's why they profile folks. It's why inner cities minorities will always be targets. It's why America, while only having 5% of the worlds population, has 25% of the worlds inmates.

Do the math on that. Enough is enough. At days end if you can represent that evil, I can't **** with you. I can maybe **** with you on a personal level, be friendly, exchange pleasantries but the moment any officer puts that badge on, I'm done.

In today's America, cops do not serve the public, they serve themselves. Sure, do they save lives? Sure, all of 'em. But all of 'em are also part of a system that alienates people, upholds unjust policies and laws, rips apart families, turns non-violent offenders into criminals.

Also folks remember this ya'll.

Cops do not have a right to see your ID on the street unless they have a reasonable suspicion.

So just hit 'em with that "am I being detained? or am I free to go" move and as soon as they say "you're not being detained bu..."

don't even let them finish that sentence, politely tell them that you have a prior engagement that you need to get to and go about your way.

if the situation escalates at that point and you're truly not doing anything wrong, you have a lawsuit on your hands.

also do not be afraid to record every interaction when coming into contact with police. you have rights, this is not nazi Germany. be cordial, be polite, don't be nervous, speak firmly and look 'em dead in the eye while you're doing so.

Why is this concept so foreign to people?

Its like... People have to watch their toes and speak easy around cops and yet...

They don't have to do it for us?

Why is it that we have a code to follow when it comes to police interaction...

But the police don't?

Smh now when I come home from work I got to make sure I don't fall asleep for a stop or two. Might get my *** beat by a cop
