Time for a new Laptop !!!

Bought the Surface Pro 3 last week.

Absolutely loved the hardware but Windows 8/8.1 is total poop. Might be the worst OS I've ever experienced. Borderline unusable for me, which is a shame seeing the Win 7 was one of the best.

Took it back the next day.

Waiting on the refund check to cop a Macbook Pro with all the fixins.
smart man. i sure am no expert but this was almost spot on with what i said above

You gotta click on an icon like 5 times to get a response on desktop mode.

Mashing together two disparate OS styles on one platform could never be a good look. Reminds me of the old Windows Mobile OS on early smartphones.

Metro is just silly looking and feeling with that horizontal scrolling.

Everything is so un-intuitive and clunky. Charms popping up when you're trying to do something else.

Hi-DPI scaling :x Need a magnifying glass to use certain programs.

Some programs you gotta download from the desktop, some from the Windows store.

It's an absolute mess.

The actual Surface hardware is amazing though.

lol - so just because he and you don't like win 8 is total crap? lmao ..

I'm done!
I never said that win 8 is "total crap" I just said that I believe macs have a better user interface than windows computers, and someone else happened to agree with me. If you need to take it to that extreme in order stick up for windows then there must be something wrong

Get what makes u happy and u like most.

BTW that HD on the ASUS is a deal break for me. Not to mention it doesn't look portable and the number keypad there sucks ..

I've used Lenovos (IBMs) for years, never had a problem with them. You can find good deals and even customize them if you go to their website.

Sign up for the Barnes & Noble discount and see what they have available on their website, I was able to get 25% off the price of my current Thinkpad...

@Mr Friendly If you want virus free porn, run ubuntu in a virtual machine 8)

It's not expensive B
You'll spend more money in the long run on a windows.
If you buy a windows now for like 700, that **** gonna go bad in 3 years, pa. Then you gonna have to buy a new joint for at least 800, and that joint gonna **** up in 4 years. That's 7 years and $1500 down the drain and no laptop.

Just cop the MacBook now for 1100, and you can hold it for 10 years minimum, fam

It's about the long run

A toshiba will last you 2 years pa, c'mon B

Incredibly bad info. I've been using a Toshiba L305-S5885 with Vista for the last 7 years, chunked it around in my backpack everyday for 1.5 years, still runs fast, only decided to replace now due to overheating issues that heatsink cleaning would no longer resolve.

I just ordered an HP Pavilion 15t-n200 with 8 GB RAM, a 750 GB hard drive, and an i5-4200U CPU for $525. Not top of the line, but it'll run pretty much anything you need unless you're a hardcore gamer. I chose it for Windows 7 (I hate 8). There's an i7 model if you think you really need it, but this one should be good for web site and photo editing, as well as some CAD and programming.

Don't get me wrong, Macs are great, but overhyped like a lot of the sneakers people on here camp out for. 5 or 6 years is all I want to get out of a laptop, anything after that is a bonus, because Mac or not, it's starting to get obsolete after that long.

Windows 7 pro >>> OS X

People are so bourgeois.

If you are even a little computer literate, a $700 windows will last you just as long as any Mac.

You don't need to spend a thousand dollars more for what a good anti-virus and some general maintenance can do.

....sheep.

But I am biased though

Doesn't make my last point any less true doe.

Windows 8 is actually good if you just boot to desktop. I like it better than Win7.

Should I get the ASUS N550JK for $1,059 or Macbook 13in retina w/2.6 GHz i5 upgraded for $1,489 before tax

ASUS N550JK Amazon product ASIN B00IAA5BSS
Macbook 13in 2.6GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage

http://store.apple.com/us-hed/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=ME865LL/A&step=config

look at the specs man..500+ for a non touchscreen, i5 instead of i7, and a worse graphic card. Get the ASUS.

But I say be patient and look on slickdeals.net and sites to get the best laptop for your money. Ive seen better deals

I've been using win7 for awhile now and haven't tried out win8 yet. Do you guys recommend getting use to win8 or just converting the os back to win7?
