i can't agree with the statement about his flow lacking on this. on KC it definitely was. on Blue Magic and Roc Boys? definitely. that's why i wasn't really anticipating this joint that much, but his flow and delivery are definitely on point again IMO. everything was beginning to seem so forced, and i honestly thought he'd outgrown this @#%$ but that sense of effortlessness is back (see: Party Life)

the one thing that bugs the hell outta me is how he points out some of the double entendres. that @#%$ is like "look! i can still rap!" it's corny as hell.

and Zo you're definitely buggin' when it comes to Say Hello. that's probably the best track IMO...

. I feel wha tyou say... cause he does say it on that drought line too. I think honestly as invincible as Hov tries to act, I think he was upset by how people reacted to Kingdom Come. Goes to show you even a N' worth 500 million has insecurities haha

But on the real, I just was kinda taken aback by the level of swag in Party Life son. That @#%$ is flyyyyyyy :pimp:

Fishscale, Late Registration, Food & Liquor and etc their just great albums but their being held which such high regard because everything else sucks.

I have to disagree. I like all those albums alot, but AG seems to have something more than those do. Party Life may be the one of the greatest things ive ever heard period. I can listen to everything on this album with the exception of Hello Brooklyn and really just geek out, I cant do that with Fishscale, LR, F&L, etc. AG just has a special feel to it, only time well tell if people will call it a classic, but for god sakes it hasnt even released yet so lets wait to decide. All Im saying is this is a step above even the "good" stuff being put out, at least to me.

Here's the thing, I think Jay is flowing like that on purpose. It's like he'll spit, then pause, then start the next bar. It can be annoying, but I've just accepted it and enjoy the lyrics. Obviously, he thinks it's hot.

I don't think it's because of age, breath control, or ANYTHING like that, I just think it's on purpose. If it was because of anything else, wouldn't it show on ALL tracks?? That and wouldn't he just have the tracks edited by Guru or the producer so he wouldn't sound winded??

This is jay's 3rd or 4th album, depending on how you rank it with TBA. Hov went in on this. The only song I question being on the album is Hello Brooklyn, but I could see this being a single just for the simple fact that it has Wayne on it and he is hot right now. On some of his songs, his flow is at that Blueprint/RD level (Success, No Hook, American Gangster) in my opinion. I just wish he returned to his rapid-fire flow for a song or two and then that would have made the album a personal classic. But this is a very solid album, and to those who say it isn't what are ya'll really expecting from Jay?

I don't think all of yall really get the direction he went with "I Know". It's not just a woman, it's hip hop and Jay is that crack. 1st verse is the first taste of the drug. 2nd verse is realizing the addiction and trying to clean up. 3rd verse is being clean and sober.

what was the overall response to Kingdom Come?
what type of music is dominating hip hop now and since Jay "retired"? yea, I know :smh:

also, wikipedia "9 1/2 weeks" for your own good.

the reason I like Jay as an artist is because his music actually means something. for the most part he doesn't just say @#%$ just to say it. the way rap is right now, the listeners have forgotten how to listen because no one forces them to. think about it, how many times have you heard a rapper spit a line that has nothing to do with anything? like if it's not a punchline, it might as well not even be a line. don't listen to hov like that. the last verse of I know tells me that this is Jay's last album and if you really listen to the album as a whole, he came full circle from Reasonable Doubt.

listening to Jay is like watching the Sopranos. if you just caught the last season you might like it you might hate it. but if you been watching from the first episode you'll understand it and love it. he has lines in Blue Magic that tie in with 2-3 other tracks on the album and other lines in other tracks that tie in with other tracks on other albums. you gotta listen!

Best track on the album is "No Hook" imo, and the best verse on the album is verse 2 of that song. :wow:
eek.gif

Other decent tracks are Fallin, Pray, AG and Party Life.

The album is better than Kingdom Come of course but definitely not better than the Black album. AG has a fair number of good tracks but the Black album has a lot of great tracks! :wow:
eek.gif
You people are crazy if you think it's better than the BA.

BA >> AG >> KC

Also....

"Say Hello" ain't that great...that hook is mad repetitive and the sample gets boring after like 5 minutes. :\
ohwell.gif
I don't why you lot go crazy about it because that song is missing something!

Also the hook too Roc Boy's is repeated too many times...it's like shut up now please! :\
ohwell.gif

Am I the only one that thinks this? *Waits for sarcastic replies*

Jay's lyrical ability and flow is obviously not up to par as it was in previous years, But this is just good, solid music.
