Gone Girl - starring Ben Affleck directed by David Fincher 10/03/2014

Wait so didn't barneys crib have cameras? They didn't have cameras in his bedroom when she was doming him? Or a camera when she was bottling herself? And when she put wine on herself to make it look like blood wouldn't it get tested? Why did she still have blood on her In the hospital and after?

One of my coworker was telling me that she used the sperm he had gotten from the clinic when he went to get his ish checked.  And I thought she made barney buss in her to prove it was rape.  Also, I was thinking that she could claim that she was prego so Ben had to stay with her but later falsify it by saying she lost it due to a miscarriage.
this is very true but if you remember in Barney's house she spatted red red stuff on her to simulate rape or misscarrage ... There's no other need to collect DNA evidence.

It's...

... a movie.

"See, in real life, that couldn't have happened, because..."

Exactly. In real life.

That was fiction.

"She had red stuff splattered all over herself on camera, so there's no need for a DNA test to prove rape." Yes, yes there is. In real life, that video evidence would prove only that she was screaming with red stuff. Screaming with red stuff is not rape; it's screaming with red stuff, and they would never call it rape JUST because she was on camera screaming with red stuff.

Now, on camera screaming with red stuff, AND there was vaginal trauma (from the wine bottle) AND he busted inside her, AND he's dead so he can't speak for himself? Well yeah, she knew all that would spell out 'rape', which is why she did it.

Only qualm I have... is the most popular qualm I've heard so far: the ending. I feel the same way about this ending as I do about Lucy: I feel like the producers/screenplay writers felt like "Alright, well that was a kick*** movie. How do we tie this thing up? Let's throw something together real quick and get our timecards over to accounting. Good job, team!"

Lazy ending, at best. Lazy ending to an EXCELLENT movie. Him and her just ride off into the sunset, with him knowing she's pregnant but also knowing she is every single kind of sociopathic crazy? Nah.

I'm not big into books, and hate discussing book versions of movies, but obviously, this was a book before it was a movie. Is there a sequel or a second volume or anything to Gone Girl, the book?

No, just the one book. I got the author's trilogy pack of books as a gift though. She wrote 2 other books.

Ska is it safe to discuss the points in your post? :nerd:

I kid.
I actually made a long post on one of these recent pages regarding the ending.

The movie isn't "real" as a whole, I understood that lol. It's obviously exaggerated, it's a story after all. What I meant by "real" when I said that was the back and forth war in a relationship. The war of perspectives. The war of words. The jealousy, the different wants in life, the changes. A lot of that felt real because it's things most of us go through in relationships.

I've never been married so obviously I don't claim to be experienced or an expert in that field, but I've lived with my girl for years so I can at least understand a lot of the different things they argued about (ambition, him not trying hard enough to look for a job, him being disinterested at times, them arguing about having kids, etc). So a lot of those things felt... Real.

The psychotic, murdering, crazy behavior... Obviously not real life for most of us

But yeah, ska... Can you read my thoughts on the ending a page or two ago and let me know what you think? I don't think it's as lazy as people might initially think.

THAT... is super legit.

SUPER

Legit.

Money, people not pulling weight, kids, where to live...

... this chick had them move to Missouri because of a death penalty. Like... WHOA.

The more we discuss it and the more time that goes by...

The more incredibly genius the ending actually becomes in my mind.

At first I was like whaaaa... That's it?

But weeks have gone by, I've watched a few reviews, read a few message boards with people discussing the movie, heard you guys break it down in here...
And now I'm like whoa.

That ending was so real it probably flew over many of our heads. Instead of giving us what people "think" they wanted to see, like a cliche death or divorce, we got the ugly/creepy/sad yet ultimately realistic truth as an ending.

Who she become is exactly what a guy like that would come to like. There's obviously a reason Ben started to cheat on her. That boring, been there done that phase of marriage got to him. That kind goody too shoes act by the wife is something most guys would probably get bored by quick.

As sickening as it is, the fact that she did turn into such an evil ***** probably brought back all the attraction and feelings he had for her back when they first met. It was like the honeymoon stage of your relationship coming back, except in the most twisted and u comfortable fashion.

We're most attracted and intrigued in our companions when we first meet them because we have so much to learn about them.

Ben thought he had learned everything there is to know about his wife, so it just became stale like most relationships do.

In a way he was back to trying to figure out who she was again, and that intrigue was all back.

It's clear at the end that no matter what words he was saying to his sister, the truth was he WANTED to stay with her.

There may have not been very many options, but there were still options nonetheless.

He chose to stay... So it said it all.

And after a few weeks of thinking about it...it makes sense, based on who he was throughout the movie and who he was when he met her.

Perfect ending man.
Movie just became even more outstanding in my eyes.

Will cop that blu ray with no hesitation

So you're saying that ultimately, the ending shows us...

"It is what it is. Dinner at 7, sweetheart. *kiss on the cheek* How was work?"

I can dig it, actually.

Copped the bluray myself, so will have to watch again, see if I get that feel.

I just, when she said "Sleep on it. See how you feel in the morning," I told my girl, "She said that years ago, when she told him to sleep on it and then he returned to tell her he wanted a divorce, and she was gone. He's not going to fall for it this time. What's he gonna do?", I was so excited.

And then... he just... woke up the next morning. I was like, "Wait, what? Nah, man. He had to have like texted that cop chick. Tyler Perry? No one? Just... woke up?"

Did you read about the story of the chick who cut of her mans junk twice?

I pretty sure this affected a lot of females out there, probably change their perspective and presume to be more crazier than they really are.  Movies like these influence these chicks to some extent.

That story of that chick who cut ff her man's junk... twice... you know why that story made the news?

Because it hardly ever happens. It's not like that happens in every relationship, like we all know what it's like to have our junk cut off or be framed for murdering our girl.

That's why he said "Yeah, that's not typical for most of us."

And yeah, of course movies like these affect females some type of way, make some of their minds think they could pull it off.

So be more selective, because movies/games/music doesn't MAKE people; they INFLUENCE people.

A chick who is cray was cray before Gone Girl. Thinking "Awwww, man, why'd they have to make this movie? Now girls are gonna be thinking they can set me up for murder if I don't kiss their ***" is naive. Girls with crazy thoughts had them before Gone Girl.

Put cameras in your house, though.

Just in case.

My man Barney had that set up in his house, cameras everywhere but it was just a disadvantage to him. Come to think of it Barney even had cameras set up in HIMYM too which was a huge advantage to him lol.

A part of him likes that he's getting what he always wanted. Enthusiastic wife with child.

is it really his or is it barneys?

It was def. his kid..she was home for almost a month when she told him and she never had his semen samples destroyed.

I thought that was his idea to move back to Missouri because of his mother? He wasnt cheating yet then I assumed and she didnt expose herself a total nutcase yet

I thought the ending was great personally...when his sister asked that he really wanted to stay..it almost seemed like he felt ashamed a part of him truly did.

The score was great also, set the dark tone perfectly.

Time to hop on the book

To me, the Missouri move was a 'just in case'.

Like, he wasn't cheating yet, but this chick BEEN cray.

"Awww, your mommy's sick? In Missouri? Where there's a death penalty? Well THAT could come in handy. Sure, babe. Let's move to Missouri.

True that.

I agree with most of your post, but it didn't
seem like he stayed because of what he
saw in his wife imo. It basically seemed
like he was stuck at the end of the day.
She controlled everything..the opportunities,
the money, the community on her side...
his bar was even her name and she made
the money for the family....if he left he would
have had nothing and then looked at as an evil
person for leaving his wife "after everything she went thru"
It just seemed like my dude was stuck in a situation, not even
adding in that she was pregnant, everything else she
brought. When you think about it, she was way more
an asset than a liability to him crazy or not..he needed
her to stay afloat.

If I were him maybe wait a year or two and get those divorce papers printed. Wouldn't care if it looked bad publicly. I'd still be the hometown boy who was falsely accused of murder. Just say the marriage has ran its course but I still care about her and the kid. My main concern would be what other crazy thing she would do to me after I try to leave.

I've said more about this in these real movie thread but just wapoints point out that I loved the ending. Like really loved it.

people clearly don't like endings where the bad person wins or some type of justice isn't served. This is the second movie this year with an ending most people hated where the bad guy won

A sequel would ruin the movie.
Pike was incredible and Tyler perry was genius casting. He was perfect.

Yeah, let's not go discussing other movies too much without spoilers, since maybe people haven't seen them, and maybe those people are looking forward to seeing them, and maybe don't want to know the opinions of others yet.

Those people.

Unfortunately, I still haven't seen this movie.. Which is terrible on my part because I'm a huge fincher fan..

But with that story with the wife, I think it got so much coverage cause she cut it off twice.. Or tried to sneak into the hospital to do it twice

I mean it's happened way too often since Lorena bobbitt, but I think society has become a bit numb to broads doing this.. With that story that chick went even further than just that initial act

so if the story is that desi kidnapped her, then why did he take the club to nick's father's house to burn it?
