OFFICIAL FIBA World Cup Spain 2014 Thread

Asik has set moving screens all over the court. They ain't calling anything on him.

Losing isn't ever good, but this kind of adversity is for the team on court. Second half they will adjust to the matchup zone. Only thing I would be worried about is how they're calling the game on offense for Turkey. Every single piece of contact is being called for them and its ********.

2 turnovers after my post about getting him out the game Coach K leaves him in....

Well this game so far shows where the US is vulnerable at.

Their defensive pressure is insane. They are far too close up on Turkey. This type of defense works against teams that can't handle pressure, but against teams that do, you run the risk of over gambling, getting beat easily and fouling because you're too close, etc. When you are that close and aren't getting a lot of live ball turnovers because of it, then that great defensive pressure actually plays counter to what you are trying to do.

Then, offensively they are turning it over way too much and they didn't make the shots they "normally" make. They don't really run an offense, which IMO is fine in most cases because of the offensive capabilities that everyone on the floor has. Make or miss game. They are missing, and turning it over which is not good considering what their defensive ineptness that they displayed in the first half.

They have to force the bigs to play D in the paint and force the foul. And the refs have to call that moving screen.

Turkey is balling out right now, and I must say I'm impressed. They play fundamentally sound ball, move the rock well, and are shooting lights out from downtown.

Someone get James Harden out of there. Didn't even make a damn effort to close out on that shot.

Basic basketball plays are killing these guys. Why are you pulling up for three when Turkey is in foul trouble?
