Are you referring to the light skin? If so, I thought they really were light skinned. Not the average Egyptian but I thought that to be a higher ranking person in the ancient Egyptian society you needed to be white.

I read in different places that was never true. Also I believe that Nubians reigned during the time this was supposed to take place

People have become more aware of history and in general call a spade a spades that's why you don't see white people playing Native American in movies anymore cause people see right through it. The movie looks dope and I will watch, but c'mon you telling Idris Elba wouldn't have been a dope Pharaoh?
Either way this will not hold a candle to the The Ten Commandments that movie still gets play round my house

I...I just don't care. It's a movie, for the most part I accept its not historically accurate, if it is that's amazing footage. How'd they get all those sweeping angles? Didn't know they even had cameras back then. Question, was there always dramatic music playing? Most importantly Bale looks great to be over a thousand years old.

I agree with the OP, Hebrews/Israelites (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses - A levite - and all of their descendants) were always colored people... Anyway, I will be going to see this! Movie looks sick!

No, it's not just a movie. It's movies, it's tv, it's comics, it's video games. It's every aspect of our lives as minorities, we see whites playing roles that can be played by anyone. Movies like lord of the rings? you can't have a black elf, but you got trees that walk and talk, **** outta here. Noah? You can't have minorities, because then it will look like we're trying too hard, so the white man is the every man. ****, I can't even take my kids to see a black santa claus but one day out of the week during christmas time. Every major video game character is white unless I'm playing a sport, or can create my own. This is since childhood, minorities don't get to see themselves in fictitious roles. It's crap.

I feel like that's a failure on your part. Jimmy Hendrix and James Brown both have major studio release movies coming out. Lets Be Cops. Think Like a Man Too, Ride Along, About Lastnight...all major studio releases, the Equalizer, Lego Movie, Belle...Major releases.
It's clear more people are hip to race in 2014, can't have it both ways. Either, everyone is more aware or people are still looking to Hollywood for history. If it was 1955 then I'd feel this thread, but in 2014, we are more aware so the influence Hollywood has is minimal. Worldstar/Instagram/twitter/Facebook does more harm than Hollywood at this point.
As such, personally I don't care. Petition, do whatever you feel is right, but you trying to take Christian Bale off screen because of his race?(which can easily be construed as racists in itself 'an Arab actor can play Moses better than a white actor' because he's Arab') we got problems.

bruh, i go to school for film. countless class discussions, i used blacks as a reference. it's a constant battle for all minorities.
i'm not tryna take anybody off the screen from a job they've been offered. i'm never about taking money from somebody else's pocket.
i'm simply saying, from jump, they're should have been an actor chosen based on historical accuracies.
Jame Brown and Hendrix both have movies coming out, that's fine. But damn, we have to make biopics to get films done? My roommate and I laugh about that all the time, every day there's another biopic. Get our history out there, cuz we definitely have more stories than just Roots/12 years. But also get quality films out that we can all enjoy. My favorite black actors are Will, Idris, and Anthony Mackie for that very reason. They do diverse films.
And I'm not on that "black movie" talk, I hate the term. Every movie you listed I've seen or will see, EVERY MOVIE. So on my part, that's not something I'm not doing. I'm saying I want to see more of me playing regular roles. As such, I'm working towards that in my own career, Lord willing I get the opportunity to make that impact.
