There is a growing niche in the sneaker community for those who collect, wear, and restore Original Air Jordans. It's on IG, Twitter, Facebook, yet my home site doesn't have one so I decided to make one. Hopefully people will come to discuss and share stories and restoration tips in here. I hope some of the OGs of Niketalk are still here and will contribute. Feel free to post some of what you have already. Really don't want this to turn into a "collection post" type thing so we will start slow. :nthat:

A few of my wears from the last months. I have been trying to wear some of my older shoes. Nice OG black and red XIs! I need to reglue two of my pairs. I do not want to unds another back up just yet. I need to find the right glue. Thinking about barge cement. Never tried regluing. I have been putting it off for to long.

Barges Cement Glue is the glue of choice for shoes. Hopefully you have a lot of rubber bands or a clamp to keep them together.

Great thread.
Here's a recent photo from DXCSF when I displayed majority of my og jordans. OG I, III - XVI's. I'm only missing og II's which is very hard and rare to find but i'll eventually get a pair. I will post each one individually.

:pimp: where did you get those cages? I got a collection table coming up for a few sneaker shows soon.

I was picking up a lot of OGs cheap back in 05 before the whole restoration thing was limited to about 4-5 guys. I wish I knew the techniques back then, that I know now. I wouldn't have sold of some of them.

View media item 1032520I got really lucky with my OG VIIIs, as I was able to get a lot of wear out of them with no midsole deterioration before I eventually sold them off.

The one thing I miss a lot about my OGs, were the insoles. They're so much thicker and comfier than any of the retros put out today.

I'm really interested in picking up some OG B/Red jordan ones and Royals so I can continue to complete the set of black heel B/Reds and Royals.

Just gotta bite the bullet.

OG Navies are incredible as well

Great thread

Hey NT. I bought a DS pair of sport blue 18s. Only flaw is the cracked blue strip on the midsole, a common problem for the 18s. I'm hoping to buy another pair and strip it to replace it with. Here is a pic of the pair with the cracking:

I found a video on YouTube where a guy takes apart and slices this shoe, and he briefly shows the part I'm talking about and how it's stitched to the upper, but I'm not sure of this. I'm worried that if I do try to rip the blue strip out, I'll ruin the original stitching. Here's the video: , skip to 0:47.

If this helps, the middle of the page of the link below shows an image with details of the anatomy of the shoe. It's a little more complicated than older Jordans.

These J's mean a lot to me, because they were one of the first pairs I got back in '03 and I haven't worn them since. Thanks and I really appreciate any advice.
