"Times Square: the worst place on earth" (NY Post)

I have relatives visiting and I actually have to take them to Times Sq now SMH

Praying extra hard that I won't have to stay there long
Time square been like this though. Whenever I have folks in town who aren't familiar with the city they always want to go, and I always give them the

.

This one chick that came to visit was like "this is so awesome, do you spend alot of time down here?" I looked at her like she was insane.

Times square is basically for tourist only  its a place I would take friends and family when they came to visit just so they could take pics and experience it.

I always tried to avoid it as much as possible when I lived there. Hated going there :smh:

TimesSq isn't thaaaat bad. I hear you guys with the crowds and traffic but do you guys ever catch a "Broadway Play"?

I recently saw Denzel in "Raisin in the Sun", Mike Tyson's "One man play", and Chris Rock in "That Mother*****er with the hat" years ago. Along with a bunch of other big time celebs in plays.

That's the only thing I use TimesSq for is checking out Broadway Plays. It's perfect for date nights with you woman.

Other then that I'm never really down there and when I do go down during the day I take the subway, it's easier then driving.

Yea its a well knows fact all New Yorkers hate Times Square and all tourists love it.
I personally always enjoyed it when I lived in NYC

Where would you take your kids?

Not even sure how that's relevant but I would take them to Williamsburg Brooklyn, East Village, TriBeCa, Upper East/West Side.

I could go on, but I would never take them to Time Square, it's the equivalent of taking your child to the strip in Vegas. Overstimulation/sketchy people/drugs/mindlessness.

Like I said, not even close to what NYC really is, there's no culture there at all.
Which Times Square you be at? :nerd:

Not Bloomberg's TS. At least on the drugs and sketchy ppl during the day as far bringing your children there.

times square aint bad at all. a lot of "worse" areas in nyc

Been there and to NY once.

Thought it was cool. I saw Matt Damon (i think that's his name, dude that was in The Other Guys with Will Ferrell), filming a movie there. That was pretty cool

Y'all are big doofuses for going to a tourist destination and then being mad that there are tourists

You damn well know who Matt Damon is

I just yell on which side im coming and people get startled and move ..
i.e. "on your left" . if that doesn't work I literally say "moveeee n__" im black though.

I hate walking in Time Square it makes me want to shoulder block everyone in front of me....Every true NYCer hates Time Square

Times Square sounds EXACTLY like the Las Vegas Strip.

At least now I know where I don't need to go whenever I go to New York.

It's there to entertain mid western yahoos who are seeing "the big apple" for the first time

Place is worthless to any other demographic

I enjoyed Times Square when I was a minor. The movie theatres, the mcdonalds, crapplebees, lids etc. Post 18 I moved on to west 4th. Post 21 I moved on up to the east side bars in the 20s-50s. Now that I'm 29 I just want to go home and go to sleep. Everything has it's time and place. I'm not gonna complain about TS because it alone brings millions of dollars of revenue to this city every year. Necessary evil.

Pretty much exactly like myself and I'm the same age too

The Heights ain't even like that anymore. The Heights and Harlem have changed. 10 years ago it was unheard of that college kids are living east of Fredrick Douglas blvd.
Yup

The heights are composed of a bunch of hookah bars, restaurants and lounges now. Harlem getting gentrified. Things have changed.
