"Times Square: the worst place on earth" (NY Post)

One of the places to hit when we went to NYC. It was cool, felt like Hollywood Blvd on steroids with all the characters walking around,. We know a tourist trap when we see one. Still cool to finally see it though. We hung out for about half an hour, snapped some pics and kept it moving. Didn't buy/eat/drink anything in that location.

Us big city folks do take things for granted. I'm guilty. People are super stoked to visit LA, and when I'm the tour guide, I've often find myself saying "I should come here more often" when taking people around.

Maybe it's a topic for another thread...but do you think you look like a tourist when you visit another city? I mean, people who visit NYC stand out like a sore thumb. Binoculars, maps, NYC sweatshirts, etc....

Hate Times Square. Avoid it all the time. Going there just gets my blood pressure up.
I just wanna punch every idiot tourist standing in the middle of the ******* sidewalk.
And all those talentless hacks tryna sell their crap mixtapes too, they really tick me off.
Every time I go there I end up disrespecting at least one person. It's amazing I never got punched.

Word man. Dam comedy show too. I walk right past them boys. One dude was like man aint no one going to that ****

I avoid times square at all costs. Tourists I don't mind. It's the many street vendors, narrow sidewalks & those free CD knuckleheads

Of course not because us NYCers swear we're the best and can't do anything wrong

For the most part, most American tourist tend to blend in.

The Euro and Asian tourist look like your stereotypical tourist.

I am not a fan of time square by any means but I do stop at Jimmy’s Corner if im close by at night. And the 2 bros pizza sucks in TS!!!

The tourists acting in awe with the deer in the headlights look and the huge crowds can get annoying quick. I expect it whenever I go by there though but I try to avoid that place as much as possible.

I can see how someone that's never been there would act the way that article described though. I went back home earlier this year, I took my son with me, his first time in New York. Took him to time square and he loved the place. I'm waiting to get the hell outta there and thinking if only he knew how that place used to be back in the day.

When I went to Dallas and Houston recently, I felt like I stood out like a sore thumb. Real cool cities with a nice vibe to them but people could tell I wasn't from that area.

Yall go on a tourist street and get mad people are being tourist

Well when you work in the area as many do, you have little to no choice. You forgot that there are a number of media companies, financial institutions, legal and real estate firms in the area and on the strip?

Sounds good. Let me know when the peep shows set back up.

I've never been hassled or harassed at Times Square. New Yorkers dont play dat
Me either but I haven't really spent time there since last year.
why even link the NY post?

Coulda typed your own mindless drivel about nothing..

Can you point out where they're wrong?

Time Square absolutely sucks. One of the biggest tourist traps out there.
It's not about being wrong. The Post sucks balls. Just like the Daily News.

No I didn't forget anything but I'm not going to whine over people visiting a street that is advertised everywhere in other states and countries as the melting pot of NYC. Pushing people out the way because they're taking a picture? That's like people who live in Miami getting butthurt when people crowd Ocean Drive or Collins Ave

What a bunch of baloney  this is what I get for trying to pay you guys compliments.

No wonder you dudes get washed in parking lots

Where am I wrong here? No one is going to go up to you trying to start trouble unless you give them reason to (being a douche, flashing money 2am in a sketchy block). Otherwise, no one cares about your existence.

I went once and it wasn't totally bad but I'd probably never go there again. It's pretty much what Pier 39 is to San Francisco. All the good is meh, so much street performers around and just tons of out of towners everywhere.

To say it's the worst place on earth though is a big statement but I see where they are going. The only thing I really liked was finally seeing David Letterman's studio, even if it was only the outside of it. Been a fan of Dave's since I was like 10 years old.

You can't compare a crowd on Ocean or Collins to Times Square. Not even remotely accurate.

*edit*

I look at Times Square like I do Ben's Chili Bowl in DC. It's something you need to do once, but never again after.
