Do you give bums money when they ask for it?

Always if they have dogs.

Here and there otherwise.

Pregnant ladies or ladies with kids usually get some too.

I buy Welch's fruit snacks from kids on the subway who are selling them for their basketball team or not for their basketball team but for themselves so they can stay out of trouble etc etc etc etc.

Especially when I'm :smokin

EDIT: Just saw Hawaii 50 story. PROPS!

soemtimes i wonder if these newborn moms aren't some lowkey cons. i see these broads in NYC subways...not latin american...gypsy was always my guess. anyways. they'd have a baby. maybe 1..2 yrs old. sometimes young enough that they are still breastfeeding. and they are asking for money..

>D there isn't a social service for a mom and newborn on the street? really? and they use the breastfeed as a tool to guilt trip people into reaching into their pockets. idk i just can't believe a mom with a new born has nothing but the street. in this country at least. so i label them as scams...

I usually give a couple of bucks if I have cash on me. The last bum I came across deserved a right hook to the chin though. I was in Vegas with my wife, and we were walking from the Encore to Circus Circus. This bum asked for some spare change, and I told him "sorry, I don't have any." This piece of fecal matter then tells me "Man, I know you have a credit card, can you just get me a meal from McDonald's." SMFH

Theres always people around my way at intersections with signs. I never gave them money until one day this family in a minivan gave this homeless chick a chic fila sandwich. I swear I never seen someone so hungry the way she ate it. My jaw dropped at how hungry she was. Next thing I know they start handing her more chic fila and drinks. They basically gave her all their food. After that day, if I have some cash in the whip ill spot them a $1 or $5 if I got it on me.

- Ayo, I'm from Phila., though...

we've got panhandlers galore, like every other major city...especially around subway entrances/exits.  If I gave every beggar I encountered some cash, I would be sittin' right next to those fools, eventually.  Lol.

- Over the decades I've chopped it up with my fair share of bums in illadelph and responded to many of these posts on this subject over the years on NT; most are real cool dudes, just hit a rough patch in life that knocked them off their game or got hooked on something crazy and had no support system/safety net.   I don't give anything tangible to homeless dudes, except for one thing -- the directions to the nearest shelter / Salvation Army, etc.  They have the proper resources to walk these people through the steps needed to return to society / the workforce / etc.   My dollar / meal will not help that person escape that trap -- long-term.

- Additionally, I always like to post this cartoon in these threads, provides me with a chuckle or two.

I tend to buy a meal for them. I remember buying a slice of Pizza for one homeless guy and he complained about how I should have asked what he wanted to eat first. SMH.

I always give what I can, especially if someone playing some music or doing something.

One time me and my buddies had bought 2 whole boxes of Popeye's, couldnt finish the other. Saw a gentleman on the corner with a sign in mid august, hot. so I gave him my sweet tea and the box of chicken and no joke, dude folded his sign into his pocket, said bless your guys' heart, walked to the nearest shaded area and sat down and ate that ish, still gets me til this day that i could see that guy happy.

Hell no I worked for my **** so they gotta do the same
Responsibility for the responsible, people. You gonna try to live off of contributing members to society while you lay waste and not do anything, nope

Let me tell you two occasions that have happened to me when I tried to give money to homeless people/bums.

First occasion:

I was walking to the train station from work. There was a handicapped homeless person with a cup jingling change. I had 10 cents in my left pocket and 50 cents in my right pocket. I go into my left pocket first and pulled out two nickels. The homeless guy proceeds to say "you're gonna have to do better than that".

I pull out my right pocket and show him the two quarters that I had. I said "I was going to do better than that but you just lost out on money" and walked away.

Second occasion:

I was on lunch break and decided to take a walk. A homeless woman asks me for a dollar. I pat my front pockets to check to see if I have anything and I said "no, I'm sorry. I don't have any money".

The homeless woman proceeds to call me a racial slur.

I will never give money to homeless people again. If they want money, work for it like everybody else in this world!

I treat everyone based on my interaction with them

you hanging outside the liquor store=no way

you in a food spot trying to get something to eat=yes

I usually try and exchange a couple words with someone if they ask me for money feel em out a bit

I've had some wonderful experiences dealing with homeless/ less fortunate folks you'd be surprised who you might be talking to and might catch a gem

+ you never know how your being tested your kindness could come back to you 10x over

was buying a dollar slice in harlem

dude comes in and asks me for a dollar for pizza

then proceeds to shmoney dance out the shop without buying the pizza to do who knows what

never again

Yes, if i have it on me i will give it no questions asked. But usually ill ask if they are hungry or thirsty.

Funny I saw this thread, just today I went to help my mom at the grocery store and a homeless dude came up to us at her car. He asked me for money while I only had my phone on me, so I showed him my pockets. He then looked at the grocery bags and wanted to take my moms food. If he weren't aggressive and wanting to take my moms food I would have felt sorry.

I went to a gas station today. There's a homeless person that I see I on occassion.

I decided to give her $5 because I've seen her at least 5 times before, but I've never given her money.

I got $5 in cash to give to her. I motion her the money and she denies it.

A homeless person denying your money.

Awkward as hell.

Sometimes. When I have it

I seen one literally eating out of the trash of FireHouse on my from Ihop not too long ago  Me and my little brother gave him $2 each.

Have yall ever seen that ****?? I mean like, live. As its happening, right there, in person, live

Couldnt resist helping the guy

I give them food if I have enough money to do so. Never straight cash. I also point them in the direction of missions or shelters that will give them meals as well on the daily.

Have y'all ever given a bag of cans or bottles wherever there's a recycling program?

Back when I was in college we used to save all our our cans and bottles for my homie Willie The Can Man. This dude is a legend at Michigan State. He used to come kick it with us and was always good for stories and laughs. One year for Thanksgiving I had my parents and sister spend it in a East Lansing and I ran into Willie that day so we invited him over for Thanksgiving dinner. It was pretty special to eat TG dinner with him and introduce him to my fam. We also used to let him crash on our couch here and there. Willie will forever be the homie.

As far as bums pan handling, I don't give them a dime, ever. Occasionally some food if I have it or I'm buying some nearby.
My mon :nthat:

I do, to me Its karma cause one day u might be stuck in the same position and then who will be there to help
