RAIDER NATION Season THREAD:

I can't handle a Carr/McG debate right now, I'll just say to each his own  I just want whoever helps us win more in the game and hope the staff makes the right choice. Regardless, I don't think it's Schaub.

I saw the Mack haters too, I think the staff was experimenting a lot with him in different spots though and I'm sure as hell not going to write a rookie off in his second pre-season game. No tackles with 50 reps into the game was a little disheartening though. I still think he'll be fine.

Wit the Oreo 6 cleats on too!

3rs preseason game is always the one to look at so we'll see how schaub does for a whole half I assume...the boo's start raining down I think we have a QB controversy brewing for game 1 of the season...

People were booing Schaub on the first drive pretty bad yesterday. The fans got him on a short leash, let's see how long DA sticks to his guns with him. They gave Matt Flynn 3 weeks and his *** was done but I think they give Schaub more time.

Didn't really get to see the kory sheets kid run the ball much. Matt was feeling pretty loose on that last throw, he looks like he's just having fun outthere..

The truth is the way the starting defense looked yesterday we are in for a long season. I think McGloin gives us the best chance to win. Last year in the couple games he started he had us ranked 14th in passing, 13th in overall offense, and 1st in passes over 20yds. Remember he was a rookie too.

Like last year it wont matter who the QB is because the defense is not looking good. We will be a bit better but not much. We will start Shaub or Carr and they will still lose because of the defense.

I prefer Matt "jordan shrug" McGloin and always have. Pryor had a good Defense for the first few games and once that was gone so was the season. McGloin as a rookie with no 1st team reps in practice was decent all year especially vs the Texans and Cowboys. Defense sort of showed up vs Houston and their no name QB but did not show up vs Tony Romo

Oh and one more thing. Some Raider fans are saying let McGloin start and teach Carr for a year. What!?? McGloin is basically a rookie too and the same age. it should be best man wins the job and thats it.

Last year
Flynn (the anointed one by Reggie)
Pryor (the future)
McGloin (the undrafted bum from Penn State)
Who is still here?

This year
Shaub (the anointed one by reggie)
Carr (The future)
McGlon (the short bum from penn state)

If we are not going to use him then lets trade him for some depth at another position. I heard the patriots and texans have talked to his agent.

Whatever it takes to get some competent play at CB is A-OK with me.

carlos rogers and competent are mutually exclusive. despite his poor showing last nite, i think brown will be a good fit for you guys so long as tarvar allows the defense to bring pressure. dude's playing for a contract, he's gonna try to show out this season

I dunno.I'm torn I'll ride with either Carr or McGloin.

I'd like to see mcgloing get some snaps with the first team. The thing with McGloin is that he has run a "pro style" offense at Penn state. Whereas Carr has had to learn to play under center.

Too early to tell...but I hope it doesn't turn into a brees/rivers situation.

oh stop, he had a few good seasons with you guys.

I think it's a shame how certain players get robbed of fair opportunities to start

Remember Bruce Gradkowski?

Now Matt Mgloin is in the same position getting robbed of the starting spot that he earned last year.

Just imagine how our franchise could've been if we actually gave bruce gradkowski a fair chance to start after he showed flashes of brilliance that one season.

And imagine how our franchise would be if we gave Matt Mgloin a fair chance, the guy is earning it with his work ethic and he's backing it up with his play...

these dumb *** nfl coaches and franchises get way too greedy sometimes trying to find the next peyton manning.

I think Bruce G could've been the next Jeff Garcia.

And I think Matt Mgloin can be too.

And these types of situations happen all over the nfl every year

Not only that, teams are robbing the fans of a good football product.

Well said.

You can add Tony Romo to the list.
There are guys out there that can at eventhough they are not 6'5".

Its crazy cuz my buddy told me McGloin was a walk on at Penn State too eventhough he set high school records Pennyslvania. The cream rises to the top.
I like Shaub and Carr too but we have to give the job to whoever performs the best. My buddies who went to the Oxnard practice said Mcgloin looked the best there too. Its not just a fluke.
