I had read somewhere that airports are the WORST spots for currency exchange... And ATMS over there are the best?

Just go to any bank here or there.

In europe most major cities have currency exchange booths.  Probably cost more than a bank though.

I got mine from my bank in the states. Got a few hundred bucks bc I don't like carrying cash. Was a decent exchange.

I signed up for an ally checking account. They charge 1 percent on foreign credit/debit charges. Barely used cash. Was great

Airports have awful exchange rates.
