QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

ah maybe this is why, elpablo21 elpablo21

After six years, the pace that Mahomes is on is insanely high. :wow:

The baby Brady, baby Ben, baby Russ hand off runs before they became fully grown QB's, this isn't that. Pat has even broken (shattered really) the QB cap angle.

The only downside will be Reid not staying a full 15ish years to see them in tandem like Brady and Bill.

think it's unfair to say flacco rode coat tails to a title the same way dilfer did. dilfer, absolutely
This. Flacco literally had one of the greatest postseason runs we've ever seen. Joe will always have my respect just for that. Lamar a choker. He's a regular season warrior until he proves me otherwise. I really thought dude was taking it all this year :smh:

Where would you place Mahomes as far as peak only in a top 10 list?

Was also thinking are we able to even rank QBs pre 1980s for peaks given how the much the the position and offense has changed over the last few decades

Someone like Marino peak even without SB wins easily tops guys in his era because he was ahead of the curve playing the position but now that's like the norm

In terms of QB's with 6 seasons under their belt only, I can't think of anyone higher than him. I mean, you got QB's with 15-20 years on their resume that don't have what Mahomes has in six.

Brady had 3 rings, but largely did it handing off. Aikman hit his 3 outta 4 pretty quick but wasn't close to what Mahomes does. Who else would even be in the convo? Peyton had like 6 one and dones to start his career.
Montana certainly had a good start to his career, but he wasn't throwing it all over the yard like other QB's we're talkin about.

I get wanting to add SB Wins but you can also look at

Peyton. His 1st peak run is mostly before the Bears win. Marino is Top 10 somewhere with zero

Peyton has a 2nd peak that probably ranks high with zero SBs as well

Steve Young is probably up there and he also didn't win until the end of his peak

Tom obviously has two peaks with also the hardware

I know it's hard to separate the postseason wins because it matters though

If Pat only had 1 ring at this point he's still probably should be ranked very high on lists imo

If we ignore Super Bowls my stance never has, and never will change. Dan is the man.

Since the world demands rings, nobody wanna hear that.

Dan in this era would be pure parody.

Mahomes v Brady will be interesting tho. Mike went 6 for 6 and Bron is 4 for 10. But arguments are made daily that Bron might be better.
Mahomes may not get to 7. But if he gets 4-5 and didn't spend his time handing off, gonna be some fun debates. Will remind me of the Brady v Peyton days.

That's my thing man we don't need to demand rings. The jokes are the jokes. (And you know I love the hate *cough* DeadsetAce DeadsetAce )

But think of Tom in his 1st peak 3-4 year run. Does it include all 3 rings? Probably not. His best run at the position probably includes the last ring in that time span.

It's always hard to separate individuals in team sports but it's fun to see how ppl view how great/elite someone is whether they won it all or not in said team sport

And then in football you have to deal with single elimination and all kind of variables

MJ/Lebron debate almost reminds me as much as Jerry and Moss debate. Peak vs Longevity vs Rings, ect.

You're starting to turn me on.....

Bron/MJ, Rice/Moss, Brady v Manning, Mahomes, Marino I'm getting all tingly. :pimp:

Jerry and Moss debate.

This part .......

Jerry has so many records. So many. Playoff and regular season. But he also had Joe, and Steve for every snap of his prime.

But Randy.......that **********er was a freaking FREAK. Triple coverage, meh Randy down there somewhere, 6. Like?????

Man is covered 1 on 1, don't throw it.
Man is double covered, do not throw it.
Man is TRIPLE covered, meh, throw that ****in pigskin. Touchdown?!?!?!??? :wow: :smh:

He made no God damn sense.

In some ways I think of Bo like that. He didn't have Emmitt's longevity. He didn't even reach AP or LT or Payton etc.

1 game. 10 other randoms on your side. Perfect health for that game. Age 24 (whatever peak year one believes for a RB) You got a running back you like over Bo? :nerd:

Randy was just different. And I don't mean an ounce of disrespect towards Jerry.

I'm saying and it's not like Jerry is John Stockton relying on longevity to pull weight because his peak years broke records too and is all time peak anyways

But yeah player for player at their absolute best like Bo you mentioned who was better at simply playing the position. It's a different conservation. It may end up being the same player anyways (Bonds, Gtreztky) even Tom 🤢

This is what I always say. Marino is the greatest pure QB of all time... If he had won just one ring then it wouldn't be a question. Brady of course is the overall goat and no one will catch him imo. Mahomes is on fire right now and he's just now entering his prime but ultimately I think his peers start to catch up with him eventually, particularly Burrow.

elpablo21 elpablo21 allow me to tingle you...... (K, we need some diff buzzwords, feelin like big baby over here :smh: )

It should be noted, KC faced #2 off, #4 off, and #3 off (+Buffalo) and held every one of them in check and KC didn't exactly score at will in those games. Hell, Butker had the best postseason of any of them.

That's Brady level luxury. But as I pointed out, Pat wasn't back there just handin off every snap. This wasn't baby Ben, baby Russ etc etc. But he DID benefit from a defense completely eliminating offenses.

In fact.......Purdy deserves a helluva lot of credit. (And Juwan Jennings)

Yeah all time run for the defense and Spags. The defense was never that bad even when it was Showtime Chiefs when Reek was there and it certainly was probably better than people realized this year

Can't remember how many quarters Mahomes/Chiefs offense went without getting a TD but it seemed like a decent stretch
