QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

No one can ignore Matt Ryan's playoff impotency. You can't have the nickname "Ice" and not be clutch in the postseason. 1-4 record. 9 TD to 7 INT with a vast array of offensive weapons. Any other QB would be crucified for that performance against the Giants in 2011.

Oh really ?

Peyton manning 2002 colts beaten by the jets 41-0

Peyton manning 2004 colts- beaten by the patriots 20-3

Yep that's keef

Giants smashed Atlanta that game. They also played a great game against GB that postseason. After the beating Eli took from SF and finished the game, I can't say anything negative about him.

Some of the biggest wins Andrew Luck has in his career involve him going into "game manager" mode.

the **** you talking about?

Dude never threw for more than 225 yards in a win against a good team last year.

He would make a big play once or twice a game and that was it.

Dude didn't break 4K yards last year where all this "he carries his team to victory with his arm" business comes from I don't know.

What classifies a good team? Playoff team? Is 225 yards is the 'cutoff' for a game manager? Does that take touchdowns into account?

The only reason anyone believes this is because of the amount of what is asked of each player.  This is the exact same thing that I bring up when people talk about your favorite QB Alex Smith (and before you get your panties in a bunch, I am not comparing Wilson and Alex.  Wilson is substantially better than Alex.  Not even close).

But where the comparisons are valid is what is asked of each QB.  Both QBs are basically asked to not screw things up.  Neither of which has to worry about making plays more than they have to worry about not screwing things up.  Both the Seahawks and the 49ers/Chiefs had ridiculously good defenses and neither QB was needed to go out and win games for their team.  They also had very reliable running games that said QBs could lean on.  Manage the game and dont make any critical errors is their main goal.  The more that is asked of a QB, the more room for error there is.  And I think Russell is asked to do far less than Luck....simply because he has an all world defense and top running game to lean on.

Andrew Luck does not have that luxury.  If he went into game manager mode, more times than not, the Colts would lose.

Anyone who's watched a lot of Seahawks over the past 2 seasons knows Wilson has won games for the team with his playmaking ability.

The narrative to say otherwise is simply wrong.

Luck is a gunslinger. That's obviously a different type of QB at this point. Is it objectively better? I'm not so sure.

Andrew Luck has a lower yards per attempt than Matt Ryan.

Andy Checkdown.

These are the only quarterbacks he was higher than

35 Joe Flacco, QB

But I'm just a stat watcher that hasn't seen Russell Wilson make ridiculous throws at times and carry a team with his arm when needed and Andrew Luck is just chucking it all over the field and carrying his team with his arm even moreso than Drew Brees.

Russell Wilson has thrown for more touchdowns in two season than any quarterback in NFL history and you pointed out yourself that the Redhead is 4th.

Your boy has been shut out in games in consecutive seasons...he's trash...worst QB in the NFC east

For the record I like Andrew Luck, he's the prototype.

But can I get some top 5 production before I call him top 5?

I don't even take a side in the Russell VS Luck debate but folks act like Luck carried the team with arm like Rodgers.

Personally I think it's absurd that people think Andrew Luck is a better quarterback than Ben Roeshkkdjburger and in the same class with the Big 4 already.

Colts beat the 49ers, Broncos, and Seahawks = 'Andrew Luck just chucks it all over the field.'

You're right, though. He's not carrying the team like Aaron Rodgers. They have that potent RB corps of Donald Brown, Trent Richardson, and Ahmad Bradshaw bringing the offense along. A defense that gave up the 20th most yards in the NFL and had Andy Dalton and Alex Smith looking like Dan Marino out there.

I mean, Andy Checkdown only threw for 326 yards, 4 touchdowns, and no turnovers against the Bengals and they still lost 42 to 28.

But yeah, he's a chucker who turns the ball over all the time and has an incredible offense built around him.

I knew someone was gonna come with the Trent stat. Eli also has two rings and both times, our defense was nowhere near that 2000 Ravens defense. Eli was also a major factor in both of those SB runs, unlike Trent.

I don't think Luck makes the plays Wilson does to win the NFL title game
Please point out these "plays" that Wilson made to win the Superbowl.  He didnt start making plays until the Seahawks were up 4+ touchdowns.

you're right, that defense only shut down the highest scoring offense in this history of the NFL (at that point)

that's not even the point. just cause Eli has a ring or two rings doesn't mean he's currently X on a list of QBs right now
