QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

We as NT should create the statistical database.

I remember having a hard time finding playoff stats for QB's, so I put together my own spreadsheet. Now I have like 15-20 QB's, every playoff game stats, and totals, in one place. And I update each year, every game.

i like this idea, CP.

i'm down to contribute to this

I know it is only week 1, but one thing I will say is that there is a TON of bad quarterbacking in the NFL right now.  I would say there are only about 20 or so starter-caliber QBs in the NFL.  So many bad QBs starting right now.

Any quarterback play ya'll wanna discuss? Perhaps Matt Stafford? Eli or Romo? How Matt Ryan will make his case for being elite this year? Improvement of Geno and Locker?...Anything?

I'm having a hard time with Eli. :smh:

He has had two tremendous runs, but has been a dumpster fire the last year or so.

I can't figure out if his arm died, his line, receivers, OC's, what? :smh:

What's to discuss ?

He's getting old dog.

Sucks for you.

i mean i know. and he's never been an accurate deep ball thrower. but if you're gonna attempt to do it, don't throw it straight up in the air. defenders can run right under that ****.

--Stafford played probably his best game ever. Seriously, his performance was my favorite of the weekend.
--Eli has fallen off incredibly hard. He'll get a career pass for playing 8 great games when it mattered, but honestly, he hasn't backed up his rings with consistent QB play.
--Romo is showing the effects of missing a ton of camp time.
--Gave Matt Ryan a pass for last year and he made me feel good about it. Came out and played his *** off.
--I need more games out of Geno and Jake, but they get thumbs up for week one.
--Andrew had one of his 'every ball is sailing high' games. Doesn't help that Fleener has bricks for hands, but everything he threw was high. 3rd year in the league... gotta start getting that under control.
--Russ looked really good, but also threw two balls that should have been picked off.
--Derek Carr threw two balls that traveled over 10 yards through the air. Good game plan, coach.
--I said it last year, but Thomas is losing his deep ball touch. There's nothing that sucks more than watching one of the greats decline. His brain + abilities will keep him playing at a high level, but much like Captain Wobbles (Peyton)... Father Time is catching up.

Good stuff. Pretty much agree with all of it except my favorite performance was Matt Ryan. Been pulling hard for the guy and he truly put on a clinic. I'm hoping he does it all season.

-Stafford played great, love seeing all DAWG players do well

-Honestly tho as far as Peyton and Tom...age is catching up...it's life, we're about to see a new era of elite QBs slowly come in.

-I don't know why I think Romo will be fine this year but I do.

- Eli is trash man, and I'm not going off one game...ever since that last superbowl he's been awful

-Cutler....shows flashes but ultimately dude is average as hell. You have Alshon and Brandon...it should be easy out there for you

-luck...good but yeah that top 5 **** was retared

-Drew Brees is still Drew Brees

-Russ played well and smart like he always do

-Kaep...second half was putrid compared to the first...either the cowboys d stepped up or the niners offense needs to do better at the half.

- Nick Foles performance was concerning. Dude looked legit scared in that first half. Only other time I've ever seen him like that was last years Dallas game though and he bounced back incredibly well for the rest the season so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Has a lot to prove though.

- Eli Manning has really fallen off. It's crazy how many miscommunication errors he has with receivers throughout games. They better rebound real quick or this season is going to get ugly for him.

- Tony Romo had a dreadful performance but I think he is going to be alright. He was forcing passes obviously, but the offense was moving the ball very well throughout the game. He is going to have some big performances this year like always.

- RGIII and that whole ******** team seems like a disaster waiting to happen. That O-Line is shoddy and he's not good enough to carry the whole team.

- Peyton Manning going to run a train on the league again this year. Not the same gaudy stats as last year but that offense is still too powerful with him at the helm.

- Brady god is my dude but I'm starting to get concerned about him. Feel like the decline is coming which you would expect with his age. But still, weird to see. Doesn't help that NE didn't get him any outside weapons. I don't know why for the life of me. They need some explosiveness on the outside. We saw what dude did with Moss.

- Matt Ryan is in for a huge bounce back year as long as he gets the protection he needs up front.

I could write more but that's just some stuff that sticks out to me from week 1.

I'm hoping Rivers' season last year was actually him showing he was back. Because he looked awful in week 1.

Both Matts, Stafford and Ryan were the best in week 1.

And Peyton still throwing ducks, while Brady continues to miss throw after throw, remind me, again, of Dan's final days. The **** is sad man. :smh:

Did not like Rodgers avoiding Sherm one bit. At all. Gameplan be damned. You can't play NFL football against the leagues top defense, with half a field. If they know every throw goin left, they'll likely be leanin left when the ball is ready to come out. But, I trust he'll get it goin.

Foles looked awful early, but the Jags may actually have a decent DLine and were the cause of that. Apparently, the secondary still needs work because there were Eagle receivers running free back there like crazy. I can't help but think Foles will miss Lazor a little bit, as well as D-Jax, but they brought in plenty of weapons to fill that void, plus got Maclin back, so I think Foles can still be solid, but not as ridiculous as he was last year.

Carson Palmer threw at Larry Fitzgerald the same as Rodgers did to Sherman. Problem is, at least Sherman isn't on Aaron's team. Give me a ******* break Palmer.

Was highly impressed with Derek Carr. Throws an excellent screen, crisp, accurate, spins nice, great touch. Hopefully someday I can see him throw the ball forwards and see what else he's got. (outside of the pick he threw 6 yards beyond the LOS)

Eli. :smh: I'm havin a hard time with Eli. After his 2nd Super Bowl, and a 5,000 yard season. I thought he was going to do enough with his resume that he would actually be considered a solid overall QB. Not top 10 all time or anything, but a nice, solid, good career. Now? I don't understand. At all. He perplexes the **** outta me.

Rivers made some throws, and missed others. The one he hit Gates for 30 was freaking money, but the ones late looked like he'd never seen a blitz before. Not like him.

Cutler. He played.

Geno looked a little better than he did last year. I'll chalk that up to progress, interested to see him vs GB.

Brees was Brees. I expect his decline to follow Tom and Peyton's by about a year or two. But so far he looks strong. Cooks is going to feast I think, and Jimmy will do Jimmy things. Wonder if the loss of Sproles will impact them in any way.

Cutler was terrible in week 1. But after he took that helmet straight to the chest, he was absolute MONEY in week 2.

Ryan Fitzpatrick.
