QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

CP :wow: @ that post

a lot of that makes sense though. at the end of the day, football is the ultimate team game. winning, stats, awards...all of it relies so heavily on the guys around you. baseball is much more individual (to a certain degree). same with basketball.

it what makes these QB discussions fun. really have to think about it and use the eye test a lot more than you would with other sports.

Eye test it is hard to put people ahead of Dan. You watched the dude and his throws and you were almost in awe. So much fun to watch him play

I "think" what a lot of the younger guys see/think is 96-99 Marino, who was similar to this year's Kobe.

83-94 Marino was like Wilt playin in the 60's. He didn't fit his era.

83-94 Marino, in TODAY'S game???? :smh: :x

And he did it with less help than many others. Truly tragic.

 You and you thinking that I'm just looking at boxscores

Aikman is not a better quarterback than Dan Marino but he was difference between the Cowboys winning and not

Aikman was 16 TDP 4 INT In their 3 Super Bowl runs and posted a QB rating well over 100 in 8 of 9 possible games

When he played he poorly, The Cowboys didn't do s****

In 1990 game was a shootout like I said earlier, neither defense played well, Dolphins punted TWICE

The crazy thing is the Dolphins actually had a running game that game

The main difference was the Dolphins turnovers. Marino threw 2 INTS compared to Kelly 1 INT

Elway didn't have anything close a HOF weapon til Terrell Davis showed up and even hes not in the HOF

Duper/Clayton/Moore/Fryar/Edmonds s**** on Elways weapons til like 1995

Elway managed to get to 3 Super Bowls with this cast though

Nevermind boxscores, you just don't know what you're talking about, at all.

Ferrell Edmonds.

Move on dude. It's ok. I get it.

Ferrell Edmunds made 2 Pro Bowls dude.

Marino did make a SB, just ran into an awesome 84 49ers team

It wasn't like the Dolphins were really outmatched by the 49ers though

This was the Dolphins 2nd Super Bowl in 3 years, they had the top ranked offense and a great defense

They weren't suppose to get blown out

Marino wasnt great in the Super Bowl either

That 84 Niner team was an all time great team.
Mia was not nearly as complete of a team.

What point are you even trying to make with all of this?

How werent they are complete team?

The Dolphins were 14-2

The 49ers were 15-1

The 49ers had the 1st ranked defense

The Dolphins had 7th ranked defense

The Dolphins had 1st ranked offense

The 49ers had 2nd ranked offense

They were fairly evenly matched teams. The Dolphins should not have lost by 22 points. Marino was a big reason why they did

Im sick of this narrative that Marino never had any help without pointing to Marino's postseaon ineptiude

Marino from 19983-1994 played with 43 Pro Bowl selections not including 3 for Special Teams

Elway from 1983-1994 played with 34 Pro Bowl selections not including 2 for Special Teams

Elway made it to 3 Super Bowls with his cast in that time period while Marino had the universally accepted better coach in Don Shula

Marino was the reason they lost the Super Bowl?

A game you didn't watch?

It was also a home game for the 9ers.

But whatever, you are clearly scouring Wiki-pedia searching for every Pro Bowl count you can find.

Talkin about games you never saw, and era you weren't a part of.

Next you'll tell us what Google says about Bradshaw, Namath, Staubach, Tarkenton.

Yes I didn't see that Super Bowl live but neither did you

 You know they replay Super Bowl games right though?

Yes the Super Bowl was played in the Bay Area but it wasn't played at Candlestick....I believe another team or two played a Super Bowl in their area but they didn't win the game, its not like an automatic win

The era stuff you're assuming A LOT

I read boxscores during Russ games?

I don't watch the games, live? Serious?

Come on man, be better than that.

Marino was a great and talented passer but that doesn't mean he was the greatest quarterback of all time

Quarterbacking is more than about just passing, theres intangibles that go into it

Marino, he wasn't as great of a leader and as clutch as Montana, Brady, Elway the guys I have ahead of him

It's a shame what AR12 did on one leg in today's 2nd half is gonna be overshadowed.

Yes I'm a Rodgers homer, but it doesn't change the fact that he was killing in that 4th quarter.

Objectively, that was a horrible rule enforced on Dez... But it doesn't change the fact that Rodgers beasted :smh:

Not alot of big yards or attempts for Romo

But was extremely efficient, made huge plays when needed, played a good game just an unfortunate ending

I thought Romo, Cam, and Flacco all played well.

But AR, Wilson, and Brady were even better.

Not to mention, 3 bye weeks, 3 home QB's. Could be 4 for 4 here in a lil bit.

Cam played well?
Come on bruh, he threw 2 picks (one a pick6) almost had 4 others
was throwing off his back foot ball game

dude was a wreck out there
