QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

What's so bad about Russ being considered a slightly above average QB? That's respectable given the fact that most of QB's around the league are sub par to say the least

I have Russ @ 8 on my list, said he'll move up after this year (possibly top 5) and still get called a hater.

I dunno what else I'm supposed to say. He's a solid, efficient QB, elusive as hell, fun to watch, sometimes does too much, sometimes does too little, but has the benefit of playing with a phenomenal team. Ben Roethlisberger had a similar situation when he came into the league and turned into a BEAST. I can see Russ taking that step in the future. He's a smart dude.

I agree with everything posted here
He's proven to show up to lead the offense to TD's late in games a ton of times and is successful damn near alot of the times.

So why do we hold Montana and Steve so high?

They had great defenses and great weapons

Well, I mean, aside from the fact that Steve Young won MVPs, Super Bowl MVPs, led the league in TD passes and completion percentage numerous times in his career, tossed 6 TDs in the Super Bowl, etc...

But he had great defenses, he wasn't slinging the ball crazy like Luck was. So according to yall hes just a game manager

Exactly,he's a good QB on his own. His squad doesnt take away from that. I believe he'd have success on another team as well. Just probably not Championship type success

he won a super bowl. he has to be elite.

As we've seen countless times,it's not always on the QB to lead his team to a title.

There's probably a good list of average/mediocre QB'S that have won, this isn't Basketball where one guy can will a team .

Kap was a few yards away from one as well .

He wasn't slinging the ball crazy like Luck? Did you not watch Steve during the mid 90s?

Dude went for 4k yards @ 70% completion, 35 TDs to 10 picks one year.

Chester you are a stats machine.

All I know is that Steve Young was great and when they won the super bowl in 94... That team was awesome I remember Deion high stepping down the sideline damn near Everytime they threw his way.

The crazy thing about this whole Russ thing... His own team doesn't value him as much as the fans.
They have signed everyone else except Russ. And I recall reading they are in talks with Bobby Wagner to re-sign.
The market is set, he's next to sign... Luck for sure isn't signing before him. Just think it's interesting unless I missed something.

You posted two examples of miracle completions to counter those stats....that tilts the balance that much on those numbers? I doubt it.

and yes he should get credit for the passes to Foot Locker guy, he put the ball where his 6'5" receiver and only he could get it....you make it seem like those were some miracle plays where Footlocker guy had to make some god like maneuvering to save Russell's *** on those plays.

You dont have him in your top 10 as a throwing quarterback, that's perfectly fine.

but that doesn't make him a top 10 QB, imo. Playmaker? Sure.
but the Seahawks can win with anybody back there....without a top 10 playmaker at the quarterback position

people love to point out the Broncos Superbowl as a hypothetical...as a hypothetical do the Seahawks even make it that far with T-Jack thru the Season?

Should I bring up the Saints game, where he had 9 completions, but Drew Brees was being shut out, all the way into the 4th quarter? Russ had just over 100 yards.

I mean, that's Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers, all losing to a QB that has 100 yards, absolutely nothing until it was 29-0, and 4 INT's. Think about that B.

In playoff games, in the NFL, a team is winning games with that type of QB production, against 3 of the greatest QB's of all time.

What other teams in history can have that kind of luxury and still win, PLAYOFF games??????

Russ is going to cook this year with Jimmy G :smh:

Interested in seeing what this dude can do with a REAL target. None of this Doug Baldwin garbage

This

If some of these dudes was the owner he'd have a 150 mil contract by now and win nothing because the defense would be gone

I was speaking more on Montana on the throwing the ball like crazy part. If RW is a game manager alot of Montana's seasons mirrors RW's stats

Didnt Russ already turn down a 4yr/80M contract?

Nothing.

However to say that he is below average or is Michael Vick is clearly ridiculous.

The straw men return, however.

Bruh the 1994 49ers team is like my favorite team of all time. There are very few QB seasons that have impressed me as much as Steve's (Kurt, Brady in 2010, Peyton in 2004).

I have a DVD of that season that I watch whenever I want to get depressed about the current state of the franchise.

More or less the same as every Seahawk fan's impression.

This

So basically what the Colts are going to look like when Luck accepts that 25M per year

This is very true Russ is gonna do really good with Jimmy... Avg Qbs always use the TE well IMO... He's gonna flourish with Jimmy... I think he's probably about to have his best year yet as long as Jimmy stays healthy... And Jimmy gonna **** around and break TE single season records.

I just dont undersnd why Seahawk fans are so touchy about Wilson. Its CRAZY to me. They have a historically good defense and get upset when NFL fans credit the D and not Russ. Makes no sense.

Since Russell Wilson has come into the league, the Seahawks have allowed an average of 11.8 points per game in wins. In losses? Allowed an average of 24.4 points per game.

This is an INCREDIBLY telling statistic. 11.8 points given up on average in wins. Does anyone here believe there is a single stating quarterback in the NFL that couldnt lead a offense to average 12 points a game alongside Marshawn Lynch?

How do you know what has been talked about with the contract?
according to alot of sources RW has been offered a 20M per year contract. That's not valuing him worth much?
Dudes acting like this is Madden where you just meet in the middle during a negotiation and shake hands

Have you ever admitted yet that RW is better than Kaep?
Acting like yall weren't the same way for Kaep after that first season

Do we win the Super Bowl with T-Jack starting week 1?

somewhere in the Cam Newton neighborhood is what I read, also 54mil Gtd...turned down

but the team doesnt value him?

and once again, the CBA did not allow for the team to extend or negotiate until this off-season with Russ

You know damn well that you can't compare 1970-1980s football to 2010+ football when it comes to stats. FFS Joe led the league in TD passes with 17 one year. 49ers were constantly in the top 5 for passing yardage.

They were stacked, no doubt, but Joe would get his.

Look at this ****** clown right here.

I didn't say he was Mike Vick, I said his uniqueness was like Vick, BUT he's smarter, and a better passer, and not as fast. Real simple there for slow folk like yourself.

Straw men.

Pabs is the only Hawk fan with a brain, 27 and a55 stay confusin their own selves and then both agree with Chester when he says EXACTLY what we've been sayin for 3 years now. Yet bring up Russ and not Elite/Top 10, and they get all sassy.

We say he's fun to watch, does his job well, and will get better, but as of now has benefited from a strong core around him, and they lose their minds.

Straw men tho.
