QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

I love Lynch and ill say i think he really enjoys winning, but I also think he literally doesn't give a **** if he loses.

Im not questioning his effort on the field, but I have questioned how much he cares. If that makes sense.

Starting your career in Buffalo will do that to you...

I think he's paying Kam back for holding out those two games.

Read a good point on Twitter.

If not for a great defense, we would really be lookin hard at Peyton right now.

He's not the same as Sept/Oct 2014 Peyton. That's concerning come January.

It probably won't be a popular opinion but I think it might work for him. If they can keep working and perfect those DT/ES screens, they have such elite blocking on the line and with their WR's it'll make their offense click better. I think it'll open up 10-20 yards past the LOS a little more and I think he can still hit those throw with his usual pinpoint accuracy.

They really need to start trotting Hillman out there. Absolutely atrocious stuff from Anderson so far.

Seattle w/o Lynch against that defense on the road?

Christ.

NFL playbooks are like mini encyclopedias, basically any play that offensive coordinator has saw and thinks is effective is their playbook.

The plays the offensive coordinator likes are the staples of the playbook. When a coach works with a quarterback long enough they ask the quarterback for input on what calls he feel comfortable with and when he likes to run them.

On the off day which is Tuesday most of time, the starting quarterback and offensive coordinator meet and discuss what play calls they like for the upcoming opponent.

Don't think for a second a NFL veteran quarterback doesn't have a lot say in what plays care called and when they are called.

If you see certain concepts on Sunday, the starting quarterback told the offensive coordinator that he was comfortable with the concepts or didn't voice his discomfort.

The effort he puts out makes it seem like he cares enough (and mentioning he wants another ring)

I dont see anything wrong with it either way though...much like Curtis Martin in his HOF speech

I completely agree. Denver is a team that I think is flying under the radar right now. Peyton hasn't looked himself by any means, but they're getting it done with a struggling (albeit getting better) running game. If they can get Hillman/Anderson churning and limit Peyton to 28-32 passes a game... I dunno. I'm very intrigued with this team. Has that Elway-at-the-end-of-his-career feel. Ironic.

I figured finally out the PTI reference.

Then I remembered wasnt this same dude referencing Le Batard recently?

I couldve sworn Le Batard is a PTI regular and thats how he got his national shows?

Geez this dude

We knew that since last year tho, esp towards the end of the year and the playoffs.  If not for them getting the first week bye early, we would have seen this coming a long time ago.

He's not the same player.  His arm isn't what it used to be and he's coming off multiple injuries with a bad offensive line.  Oh and by the way he's what like 39 now?

That was the issue when he left Indy, but Elway wanted to pay him 22 mil a year even though he knew the window was closing.

I think that Super Bowl vs Seattle was his only shot at a ring.  That blowout was telling.  But hey, they paid for him, they knew the risks

Seattle's line was never that good, and Max Unger the pro bowl center being traded, didn't help at all.

Lynch isn't getting younger and he's a physical back.  He still has some zip but that line is making it hard.  He was prob chilling till the playoffs, but now that's up in the air so he'll prob be back soon

Peyton Manning is what he is now, he's damn near 40 years old.I don't know what some people expected.

I think the Broncos made the smart hire for their personnel by hiring Wade Phillips and Bill Kollar. For some reason Phillips seems like he's really good in turning around defenses in the short term ( Broncos, Bills, Falcons, Chargers, Cowboys, Texans)

MVP candidates right now:
1) Matt Hasselbeck
2) Tom Brady
3) Aaron Rodgers
4) Andy Dalton
5) Carson Palmer

It's strange to me that people can't post their own opinions on a message board without being called out, or passive-aggression being shown. Such as this.

"I'm the new guy." Welcome my friend.

I've been working 14 to 18 hour days all week. I finally caught up. Missed you guys. Pure gold boys. Pure gold. Never change.

I'm just here for the context.

Your boy sits at home watchin PTI and using them for quotes on NT. And many of you sound like ESPN sheep yourselves, regurgitating ESPN narratives without substantial background.

You say I only dig deep to fit my stories, yet, I've been doin this, every sport, every topic, every year I been on NT. Looking deeper inside what sheep like you guys try to tell me. Naw. I always look deeper, good or bad.

Like when I brought up passes that AREN'T intercepted, but could/should have been. But I don't have a way to substantially look into that kind of data. I know of someone who does, but again, that's one man's view of each throw, can't say for certain if he's right or wrong, ya know? Just his outlook on a play.

Then you see stuff like this

The problem is a lot fans judge defensive lineman by sacks to and sacks don't tell the whole story.

In the NFL thread, when I've typed 10 million words talkin about the variables that go into QB's, INT's, attempts, %'s, playcalling, Olines, drops, routes, etc, and he drops that gem, and thinks it's no big.

 :smh:

It's the same exact thing. But two different positions. One position he wants to focus on one stat, the other he doesn't.

Thas your boy tho A55

I said PTI is killing Ryan Tannehill and you take that as me sitting around watching PTI everyday and treating them as my gospel.

While you have started posts referencing what Dan Lebatard says.

LeBatard hit the nail on the head this morning.
….

Dan Lebatard was a regular host on PTI and that's basically how hes gotten his national shows. But the PTI crowd is only cool when it fits your narrative.

Yeah, except, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm LeBatard actually got his start covering Miami, and I knew about him long before PTI.

And honest truth, never even knew he was on PTI, ever.

And if you are going to try and imply that anything that comes out of LeBatard's mouth is random muted ESPN speak, you're just lyin to these people now. LeBatard is FAR from a regular ESPN head, same as Simmons never was. Be real.

I hate ESPN for the record. Can't watch a full program on that ******** network.

Agreed. If not for games, I would never be on that channel.

I miss ESPNNEWS, when it was nothing but highlights, and score updates, press conferences, etc. Nothing else.

Now they have like game shows or some **** on there. :smh:

The ignorance excuse again!

You listen to Dan Le Batard on the regular but NEVER knew he was on PTI?

Come on bro.

And I dont know how hes different than the rest of people on the network, maybe I need to listen to him religiously like you do.

Uhhhh, where did I say I listen to him on the regular??????????????? Because I'm pretty sure you know he JUST got on national radio, right?

Regular? I had him on ONE morning, and caught a point he was bringing up about QB stats. And I dropped it in here.

In fact, I'll show you how hard he is to find, in Oregon. Colin got replaced. Everyone knows that. So Lebby comes on for his first day as "national" and the next day, no joke, the NEXT DAY, he is off the air here in Oregon again. They bumped a local show up to that slot, and Colin got a new gig that Portland radio picked up.

A few weeks later, ANOTHER station was given LeBatards show. At the same time as Dan Patrick, which is what I listen to more than not in the morning.

"religiously" :lol:

If you two started a podcast I honestly think it would be a hit. Or your own thread at least. Sometimes agree with both of you and sometimes I agree with only one of you.

Is PTI the one with 4 sportswriters debating topics or the one where they debate a topic for 2 minutes and than on to the next one. I think Kornheiser is on it

Need good voices for radio/podcasts, we would just be shouting, that wouldn't get listeners.

I work during the day, and that stuff is afternoon type time slot. I have no idea which is which.

It's the same thing you're doing when implying that I'm watching PTI all time.

Let's be honest, whether you have listened or watched Le Batard, Colin, PTI, Simmons, etc like most Sports fans have that doesn't mean it will affect your opnions any more than watching a horror movie from time to time will make you a serial killer.
