QB THREAD - 2x quarterbacky award winner: Lamar Jackson

I want to see that guys formula whenever he posts it. QBs seem to be pretty fairly ranked. Crazy how much higher Rivers is than Flacco.

AFC South is for stat padding, tho. (Alex Smith was 19/35, 54%, 202 yards, 1 TD, 3 INTs against the team that Luck demolished with the fury of a thousand neckbeards)

So you admit Alex Smith and Andrew Luck are the same caliber quarterback right?

If Alex Smith sucks what he did against Tenneesee is irrelevant as it pertains to Andrew Luck.

Andrew Luck's stats versus teams a combined 1-7 75% Completion percentage 381.5 yards per game and 8 TD VS 1 Int.

Andrew Luck's versus the only two decent teams he faced 63.2 % 271 yards per game and 5 TD VS 3 Int. Not that bad huh?

Well in the Denver game Andrew had thrown for 56 yards no touchdowns and a pick by the time he was down 24 points. Suffice to say he amassed a decent amount production in garbage time.

So just for the people who aren't slow Andrew Luck has piled up some great stats against teams that are a combined 1-7 and in garbage time of a game in which he was getting washed 24-0.

But hey

If you insist on saying Luck and Alex Smith are similar QB's, I'm going to insist on ignoring you.

You only need to see a single throw, the 40+ yarder to Hilton to the 1 yard line, to show something that Alex Smith could never, ever, do even if he was on the field alone with his WR's.

Please stop with that. I'm asking nicely.

Both went #1. Both right handed. Both play QB. Both have first names that start with the letter A. Both play in the AFC. Both went to college.

In fairness to SneakerPro, that's the best I can come up with.

I mean, it only took Alex Smith what... 8 seasons in the league to finally toss 20 TDs? Has never eclipsed 3400 yards passing? Hell, the scrub has thrown for 3000 yards passing twice in his career. Alex "Trent Dilfer" Smith is what he is.

Look at the statistics from Mr. Smith's first THREE seasons in the NFL (yes, three combined seasons. He was injured and missed some games but still played 30 of them):
52.5% completion rate, 4679 yards, 19 TD, 31 INT, 5.5 Y/A, QB rating of 57.6... 11-19 record.

Look at Mr. Luck's first season in the NFL (one season, a single season):
54.1% completion rate, 4374 yards, 23 TD, 18 INT, 7.0 Y/A, QB rating of 76.5... 11-5 record.

But yeah, they're the same guy...

Let's look back to this discussion after Andrew's played 8 seasons. We can have a nice discussion about their careers at that point. :D

Honestly I don't even like Alex Smtih.

But the bottom line is last year Alex Smith and Andrew Luck put damn near identical numbers.

Alex gets viewed a certain way but Andrew gets hailed as the savior. How is that possible?

Even THIS year Andrew rolls two bad teams and folks talking about how he's outplayed Philip RIvers. Man what?

Dude has had two good games and a good half while he was down 24-0.

The momentum to make this dude the NFL of is just comical to me. If dude has a full season doing close to he has done the last two games then have at it, he will deserve it.

But I've never seen more praise given to the decimation of two bad teams in my life.

Andrew Luck hasnt been benched for the likes of JT OSullivan, Shaun Hill, and David Carr...

and he's just a flat out better QB.

Then over a full NFL season his numbers should destroy Alex Smith's and they haven't

Rules changed making it easier to pad stats :D

Wait....

You really are comparing Smith to Luck?

I'm so confused...

In what capacity they are the same?

I don't emm think Alex Smith is that good. He's better than people make him out to be but dude ain't that good.

In the predictions thread I said Alex Smith would outplay Andrew Luck in 2014 statically and people thought I was crazy. I knew before I typed it they put up similar numbers in 2013 but I just wanted to see want the reaction would be and low behold it was what I expected. If Alex Smith didn't sit out that last game of the season he would have been statiscally superior to Andrew Luck in every way except maybe passing yards in 2013.

My point was if Andrew Luck is already a top 5 quarterback which is what A ton people on NT and in the NFL media shove down our throat, he should be killing somebody like Alex Smith's numbers.

But he didn't.

That's all I'm trying say to say, can we let Andrew Luck complete 65% of his passes before he's top 5 quarterback?

Or do we have to anoint him so damn early into his career?
