Black/Latino guys with kids mainly boys...(RACE THREAD IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT STAY OUT)

I see these videos almost daily at this point of mainly black men being assaulted and killed by police and nothing seems to happen.

You teach kids to call the police when there is danger but they grow up and the police see them as a danger.

What do you or will you teach your kids about the police and how to handle them?
 
I have a daughter

But my dad raised me to "trust" them but don't give them any reason to pull any funny ****.

Only bad incident I had is when I was younger and everybody was at IHOP...some folks were rowdy so the police were called. My crew and I bounced and as we were walking out one of the officers bumped into me on purpose. Then he challenged me by saying "what ya gonna do" ....hit em with the "you know you got badge privileges" and kept it moving

Was only pissed I couldn't drop dude but knowing he was a ***** comforted me.

I don't hate police officers but whenever I deal with a white one I assume he's naturally scared of minorities until he proves me wrong. Plenty of cool white officers but I just can't trust one off gate until he start talking. Then I'll know.

And I'm not bashing white officers but too many have harmed minorities so I have to be on alert with them.

Had a 12 gauge to my head before I turned 18 because supposedly fit the profile of someone :x .. But then I had one that let me go off my suspended L's.. I always teach my kids that some are cool and some are dbags. Just don't give them any reason to f with u..
 
That's a good *** question...

I would teach my kids to just do what you're supposed to do and they won't have to deal with the police. If they do get caught, just take the L and don't resists. If they are being profiled, just stay calm and if they're not actually doing anything, they'll be aight.
 
Most Cops out here are paranoid, i would be too if i was dealing with potential criminals on a daily, im not saying the profiling is cool but put yourself in there shoes
 
I'd let them know to never rely on cops and if possible to take care of business themselves (in reasonable circumstances) but that would be til later on. Before the age of 10 ish I want them to at least have some faith in the cops in case of emergencies I don't want them to be scared of calling 911. Also don't think it's fair for kids to know how messed up the world is and police.

Also I'd let them know to not argue with a cop unless it's in a courtroom. The cop WILL win EVERYTIME in the street. Basically let them know how it is and what they need to do to survive.

On a side note, I'm going to have them give gifts to local firefighters in my neighborhood. They're true heroes and deserve to feel welcomed by their neighborhood. :pimp:
 
My son is Caribbean and Spanish. I haven't had a talk about police because honestly I've never had a encounter with police besides speeding tickets by a trooper on a highway that made me get out my car. Maybe this is ignorant on my part but I really don't know how to approach the situation because I haven't had a extremely bad experience (ex: violence) with them. Any suggestions?
 
"Warning" them would just lead to a self fulfilling prophesy. Teach them to be a good person (however you define that) and cross that bridge when (IF) it comes
 
Tell him what my attorney told me, never talk to cops. Give yes or no answers & always keep a cool head. Forewarn him that the pigs DO NOT have your best interest at heart and that they WILL stalk and harass him simply because the color of his skin. But regardless, he must keep a cool head. And hope that he won't have to endure the same issues that I've been through.

Most of the blacks/spanish getting killed or w,e are the ones acting all big & tough

Just teach your child to always respect a police officer no matter what & dont get into no dumb **** to even get involved with a cop on that level
 
i urge someone to show me a video where a person reacted calmly and nonviolently with police and ended up dead.

ill wait.
 
What's funny is folks are saying basically the same things here as the other thread which is to remain calm and let cooler heads prevail, yet the online faux activists who've more than likely never had a run in with the cops are over there are attacking them and trying to incite riots.

I've been stopped by police on numerous occasions. Driving without my license, speeding, speeding AND driving without my license on me, reckless driving while speeding, accident, DUI. And I've only been arrested ONCE (DUI, was underage). Every other time, I've been let off with a warning. You know why? cuz my $%# clean, and I'm cooler than a polar bears toenail. AND im black/hispanic.

Yes, profiling WILL happen. But lose your temper and overreact only causes others to overreact. theres probably a 10% chance some truely dirty ##$# will go down if you've played your cards right and honest.

Tell him this if you want him to 100% get whooped on by cops for the rest of his life. Worst advice ever.


Your attorney told you this so you can come back and see him over and over again

And then you got cats whose folks are pigs, probably never seen a hood ever in their life and wanna hop online & feel qualified to speak on another mans life experiences all from behind a screen. There's good reason why my community has negative attitudes towards law enforcement, and if you've been coddled your entire life, not to mention your folks are actually working for them I wouldn't expect you to relate.

Guy in Charlotte, NC....think it happened last year

And a lot of times the police come at the person rude and disrespectful first to bring out a reaction.
