iLoveMakonnen ? vol. all in young thug's lane (prod. by metro boomin)

Drake can't do nothin for Makonnen man.

I mean hopping on Tuesday did get the joint on the radio but I've never even heard it played past Drake's verse.

That's gonna be about the extent of Drake's push, I'm sorry but dude is going nowhere.  I'll admit it if I'm wrong a year from now.

His mainstream success depends on if he can carve out a different lane than Thugger. Which Thugger has already dropped the ball by not coming with a project for a dry summer that needed a breakout mixtape (and the game was already in his hands with the hits he had, he just had to drop a solid project).

I like The Dream comparison, if The Weekend is The-Dream on lean and Xanax, Makonnen is The-Dream on a molly.

I see zero similarities to Young Thug except they both work with Metro Boomin and some of the same producers.

The Dream is a way more apt comparison but right now he's a 1000 trillion times worse than The Dream.

Keep in mind that the Drake co-sign came immediately after the Miley Cyrus co-sign...which came after him hanging out w/ Bieber in the club.

Again...these are ELITE artists. They not gonna give a "nobody" shine just because they liked a song. I gotta find this old interview where Makonnen literally mentions how long he's been trying to get his music to Drake.

If it's that to just hop in that circle off the strength of your own music...wouldn't everyone be able to do it?

Depends who the kid is slapping hands with...a mouthpiece (pause)+ solid product can get you a long way in the industry PLUS a good team behind you (pr,manager,etc)...kid was already getting beats from Sonny Digital, Metro Boomin, etc off top so he's either got major respect from someone in the streets who got him plugged (pause) /his or someone pushing him $$$$ is right/ or dude can already be on a major and it's been kept hush hush. In the interview he said he was going back and forth with some label about the remix and getting Drake or Wayne on it. Labels dont just go around getting people on un signed artist songs. Smoking mirrors you make everything bigger than it seems. Im sure the kid has been putting in the ground work for a min and finally got that right move made and got it to takeoff. Just my 2 cent.

"The Machine" is definitely behind this cupcake.
I don't believe ANYTHING can pop off organically anymore.

When someone goes from obscurity to blowing up seemingly overnight...there has to be a machine behind it.
They got a whole underground hipster scene in the A, dude been trying to pop for years and the dudes he **** with already had a little buzz. Father got that Nokia and Look at Wrist buzzing, Two9 been popping, OG Maco and Key! from Two9 got that You Guessed It and Give Em Hell buzzing, etc

His **** was similar to the Frank Ocean situation he already had a publishing deal with Warner and was supposed to be signed to Mike Will (prolly where the Miley cosign came from) he was basically on the shelf tho, he ended up hooking up with Metro, Sonny, FKI, Dun Deal etc. redid some of his songs from a few years ago along with some new tracks and started kinda buzzing. When the biggest rapper out wanna hop on your track people start taking you serious so I'm sure Warner and/or Mike Will is helping him out now and is responsible for him being everywhere post-Drake verse

I got fam out in the A, one of my lil cousins be on the Eastside and is real cool with a few of these ****** so I've been following this scene for a min

Dude wasn't getting them beats off top

all those songs he dropped on those last two LPs besides like Tuesday and Maneuvering are songs from like 2-3 years ago that he re-did on those beats. He got a lot of mixtapes where he made majority of the beats, if you go on his website and download some you can hear the original Don't Sell Molly No More, Too Much, Sex Love Ecstasy, 21st Street, etc.

Metro and all them **** with a lot of local ATL rappers you've prolly never heard of. Dun Deal for instance dropped a EP with Rome Fortune earlier this year, another dude with a little buzz in this hipster scene

The Drake co-sign was random but the Miley Cyrus cosign prolly came via Mike Will and he was "chilling" with Bieber at the Rae Shremmurd party, Mike Will's artist

My only problem with dude is some of his **** is kinda hit or miss and the misses are bad

Was in this thread before the drake cosign, tried to tell a couple people he was gon pop, they didn't wanna hear it tho.

He not gonna pop. I'm gonna stop now don't want to throw shade on anybody's career but I just don't see it.

I tried giving this guy a chance but he sucks
Hes sus, his songs are not only hit or miss but theyre so repetitive too
Damn shame he wasted all that good production, them beats are the only reason I would ever listen to him again lol
