Those nogoodniks up in the frozen French north of Quebec just decided to ban your sweet, sweet hellaflush ride, all because stancing it out affects handling and maneuverability in a province with snow nine months out of the year. But we all know that really, it's just The Man trying to keeping you down.

And The Man doesn't even care how much you spent on those rims for your mom's Honda.

The best part about this whole thing is that the Quebec government, which apparently thinks that hellaflush cars are such a problem that they've issued a directive explaining why the style is prohibited, and how to recognize the stanced menace.

The directive goes on to explain that tire manufacturers never intended for their precious rubbery products to be stretched, which would massively compromise their handling characteristics, and how adjusting the camber past the point of practicality makes maneuverability, well, unpractical.

Don't worry if you've got your car looking so, so, good already, and you think you might have to run all the way to Moncton to escape those Big Government nuts in Laval. Right now, the worst that can happen is that a cop can pull you over and send you to get your car inspected, at which point you will be informed that your car did not pass inspection, and if you want it on the road again you'll have to put it back the way it was.

Oh, and your insurance company is legally allowed to refuse to compensate you for a claim, if your car has been modified beyond manufacturer standards.

But hey, long live free Quebec, or something.

Hellaflush

The hellaflush is an aesthetic practice carried out at the expense of handling and maneuverability of a vehicle. This is a method which comprises:

  • the lower suspension of a vehicle;
  • install oversized wheels and remote ( offset higher than the original rims);
  • mount tires too narrow for the rim ( pulls stretching ).

These changes, which affect the geometry of the suspension of the vehicle, are generally observed by the presence of negative camber ( negative camber ) exaggerated. Here is an overview of the main changes brought about by the hellaflush and why this practice is prohibited.

Changes to the suspension geometry

The majority of vehicles have reduced defects on the adjustment of camber 1 . Indeed, the adjustment of the camber is not provided on different models of vehicles, which makes it impossible to align the vehicle wheels in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. To compensate the suspension to work outside of the range for which it was designed, which decreases the handling and stability of the vehicle and the contact surface with the road.
Change the geometry of the suspension of a vehicle reduces its maneuverability and safety. In addition, it is prohibited to use components of rigid suspension or insufficient travel. It is also forbidden to modify a vehicle to such an extent that the tires affect a vehicle component or part of the vehicle body touches the floor in normal driving conditions.

Stretched tires ( pulls stretching )
Tire manufacturers set the size of the wheels can be used for each type of tire to ensure optimum performance and safety. It is prohibited to use a combination of wheels and tires that do not comply with the manufacturer's recommendations, as this practice is dangerous and undermines the safety of all road users for several reasons.

Thus, a bad combination wheels and tires:

  • causes a bending of the tire places that are not designed to support it. Like stretching interferes with the natural movement of the sidewall and the tread, the tire must withstand high stress can cause an increase in temperature;
  • decreases the contact area between the road and the tire, which reduces the adherence to the ground and driveability deteriorates;
  • increases the risk of tire failure and tend to tire out its rim;
  • increases the risk of deformation of the inner sole of the tire (not visible from the outside), which can lead to its destruction;
  • accelerates the deterioration of the tire due to an overload on a tire load rating less, resulting in rapid and non-uniform tread wear.

The use of flammable or very high pressures to seat a tire on a rim assembly techniques are not recommended because they are very dangerous and can cause permanent damage to the tire. The manufacturer's recommended tire pressure is visible on its side.
Did you know that some insurance companies refuse to compensate their clients when it is shown that the vehicle has been modified with non-compliant components? For your safety and that of others, follow the manufacturers recommendations tires to avoid tragic consequences. Remember that your tires are your only contact with the road.

Offset rims

Installing rims offset ( offset ) generally increases the stresses in the suspension components and steering. The space inside the wheel is limited by the mechanical components (suspension, steering, braking system, etc..), The excess is pushed outwards, hence the need to increase the offset rim. However, this increases the leverage between the wheel bearings and, because the wheel is further from its usual fulcrum. These additional constraints will eventually change the camber axles, decrease vehicle stability and accelerate tire wear and other components of Conduct.
The use of wider wheels may require modification to the body. To avoid this, some will install a tire narrow sole stretched to the maximum. Thus, installing a rim offset that exceeds the wing, while the tire tread remain inside is dangerous.
Obviously, this practice is prohibited for any road vehicle shall be equipped with tires according to established standards. For more information, consult your tire dealer or the website of the Tire and Rim Association.

how unsafe is it really tho ..

i figure enthusiasts drive more carefully than the average person anyway.

Never understood putting wobbled looking tires on a car, and rims that basically cover the fender. Is like the fender becomes part of the rim. :x

Those nogoodniks up in the frozen French north of Quebec just decided [...] in a province with snow nine months out of the year.

the level of stupidity :lol:

I'm not into modified cars and stuff, so i don't know what to think about that.

They're doing the stancenation enthusiasts a favor in Quebec and saving them money on tires :lol:

to each their own though I respect all types of cars

a majority of the "rims cover fender" are bagged.

can't wait for the NTextremes pics.

the best way tp ruin your car plus it will save the youth from throwing tons of money into 1990s hondas :smh:

these hella flush dudes are wack. Every high schooler around my way thinks they're doing it with a far beyond beat, 90's import with a low stance, a loud *** exhaust and a tow hitch.

Didn't even know this was a style, saw some dude in a civic with the wobbly wheels and thought he put them on wrong or something. Ugly as hell

stupid as hell, serves no purpose. wheres that nt'er with the tsx who had to remove his front bumper every time he drove into a driveway? kids these days dont know ****
