2019-20 New York Jets season thread. 1-4 (10/21 vs NE MNF)

I doubt he's there at 6 also. Also doubt Philly is willing to give up that much for him. That report that came out is a smokescreen IMO

How was the Maccagnan and Bowles Press Conference going today?

i like Bowles a lot. dude knows his stuff, he's a hard worker, should have this team clicking from day one.
can't deny that.

2 things that really stick out for me.

1. Communication. Bowles really emphasizes this as a coach. 1 on 1 coaching is essential. He states that he knows how important it is, especially when he was a player for the ********, communication between the coach and his players is key when creating a positive culture. Having that experience as a player for Bowles is a plus. He understands the culture. He understands how to approach his players. I like this open door policy.

One of the number one complaints with Mangini was that his office door was always closed. Didn't feel like that interaction between his players was necessary. Idzik, the same with his front office staff.

Bowles knows that it is important to have constant communication with his players. He wants to develop that comfort level with his players. No Bs but straight to the point.

2. finding talent. Maccagnan is known for his hard work as a scout. Always doing his due diligence when grading talent. But the fact that he said that he will look at every avenue to grab the right talent shows that he's down to get the players he wants, by any means necessary. The opposite of what that idiot Idzik did. I like the fact that he cleaned house and found new, and fresh people in his staff. Finally we can search for talent under the eyes of another party. Not from Idzik/ Bradway and Co.

I'm really eager to see what kind of moves they're going to do in this draft and how they'll go through process of it. It'll be interesting.

Assuming Jameis goes #1 overall, if Mariota & Cooper were both available at #6 who would you guys rather take?

Only taking Mariota if there's a deal in place to flip him. I want no parts of him playing QB.

they're my two favorite players in the draft but I'll go with Mariota.

Still raw of course but he has the chance to be a franchise player. Geno will never be. Plus I ain't gonna ride out the season with a veteran QB to be a .500 team. Getting a buy like Matt Moore or Bradford won't cut it. Geno isn't an NFL Quarterback.

With the hiring of Chan Gailey, he's known for incorporating the spread. This will only benefit Mariota. I'm down to take my chances on this talent. WR's can be had as well around the 3rd and 4th.

neither qb excites me so i rather have cooper. i actually hope we can land cooper regardless. would be nice having a premiere receiver.

Decker, Percy, Cooper, Kerley, & Amaro would be a nice receiving corp for whoever plays QB for us.

“We do have a lot of cap space,” Maccagnan said. “I don’t want to dictate what our strategy is. . . . I do believe philosophically you have to build through the draft. The draft is a fluid thing.”

I feel much better when I heard it. I just hope the Jets don't rush to spend all of their cap space. I am cool if we bring Percy back for the right price like others said.

How bout that...build thru the draft. Hopefully we hit some picks, jets definitely need it.
still have small faith in Idzik's last draft. I mean we had 12 picks...we had to have hit on at least 3 of em.

Amaro will continue to improve and will see the field more for year 2.

Hopefully Pryor will get to play in his main position that he's comfortable with rather than play outside his role.

I still have hope for McDougle. Dude looked like the goods during training camp. Hopefully he'll be 100% by training camp and continue to compete like he did. Can be a solid nickel, if he's healthy, to start the season.

Dakota Dozier is one of those guys who I can see competing for that RG spot in the future. Came from a small school but has the size and smarts to be a starter.

Other than that, this draft was truly a bust. Idzik is a damn moron

Brand new staff could either work out well or completely hit the fan... Good thing our schedule is a lot easier next season.
