2019-20 New York Jets season thread. 1-4 (10/21 vs NE MNF)

I understand the decker signing, but I didnt have high expectations of him. Manning made him IMO, and he wasn't the first option on that team either.

Woody Johnson says Rex Ryan will be evaluated after season
Posted by Mike Florio on October 2, 2014, 1:49 PM EDT
At a time when it seems as if persons other than Jets coach Rex Ryan are responsible for quarterback Geno Smith remaining the starter, Ryan remains the guy who’ll ultimately be responsible for the performance of the team, regardless of who the quarterback is.

Johnson explained during a press conference with reporters that Ryan’s status will be determined after the current season. But Johnson hinted that Rex’s future doesn’t hinge on a playoff berth.

“We don’t look at it that way,” Johnson said regarding a playoff-or-bust mandate, via Dom Cosentino of NJ.com. “We’re looking to build a team both on the field and through our coaches that we feel is the best we can get. And so we make those decisions at the end of the season, when we evaluate everything.”

Asked whether Rex could return even if the streak of non-playoff appearances runs to four, Johnson reiterated that those decisions will be made at the appropriate time.

“Those are the kinds of decisions that we make at the end of the season,” Johnson said. “And we’ll evaluate everybody and see what the best plan is going forward.”

As to Smith, Johnson’s evaluation is strong.

“I have a lot of confidence in Geno,” Johnson said, via Seth Walder of the New York Daily News. “I think Geno can be a franchise quarterback.”

The one caveat? Johnson believes Smith’s use of an “F” bomb — twice — toward the stands on Sunday was “unacceptable.” The league likely agrees, via the fine letter that undoubtedly was sent to Smith this week.

If Harbaugh leaves SF, you have to take a serious look at him IMO.

Woody loves Rex, but Harbaugh is the better coach.

I think woody scared away alot of potential gm's after Tanny was fired.

I found a jets bar out here in San Diego, ill be tailgating with a bunch of heads tomorrow. Kinda shocked in a good way how many Jets fans Ive seen out here.

The positive about tomorrow is that the Chargers D-Line isn't all that and we should be able to run on them. Therefore, the offense needs to be run heavy; make Ivory and CJ work amd make use of newly signed/brought back John Connor in at FB.

SD O-Line too, we should be able to pressure through them. While he's a great QB and has tamed his erratic play past few seasons, if anyone can still be rattled into a pick of two, it's Rivers.

Anyone think Thompkins is worth bringing in, ya know, kick the tires so to speak. Can't be any worse than what the jets got.

wish we had that in Toronto. I'll try to look.

They did flock San Diego when they faced em in the playoffs back in '09. I was surprised about that.

No Decker again...why did we pay this dude again? Giving a #2 WR #1 money.....

This. I actually didn't even want him. I saw this coming too. Geno's issues plus Manning making Decker is what we have now. Another wasted spot.

This game is SO brutal to watch live. Offense looking like pure trash and the secondary looks worse!!!

There goes Geno Smith in NY.

Once you go to Vick, you're abandoning Geno Smith. The guys development is now stopping.

Decker could play but what use is he when your QB doesn't know how to throw a football.

Vick needs to play because at this point you know who Geno Smith is. He's worse than Mark Sanchez. A lot worse.

First time in a long time I actually shut the game off. no mas, I've had enough
