2019-20 New York Jets season thread. 1-4 (10/21 vs NE MNF)

Bet Powell regrets not playing.
So Do Fitz and Revis

SMH, so disappointing. I don't even know what to say. We had it and we let it slip away. Heartbreaking. SMH. Go Jets.

It was the pick when 2 pts behind and in comfortable FG position that's really irking me. Fitz had been erratic all drive, nearly got picked, then OC keeps dialing in pass plays

My take away from the game.

The defense is just as responsible for this loss as the offense is.

I was not happy that the the defense could not pressure Taylor. Maybe i should give credit to the bills O line, but Taylor was able to run quite a bit, and he found some success doing it.

I believe if the pass rush was able to get to Taylor, then there wouldn't have been those successful passes to Watkins and Sailas.

The Offense...very lethargic today.

Ryan Fitzpatrick did not play very well today, but it was not all his fault.

Some the Jets receivers dropped some catch-able balls.

And the run game was not effective enough today.

I believe Fitzpatrick is a good QB with a lot of heart and passion, but i also believe he can only take you so far.

I would like the Jets to bring him back next season, but have another open starting QB challenge with him, Geno, and whoever they sign in the off season.

I personally would like to see the Jets give Geno a chance.

He's still cheap, and i think by him sitting and watching Fitzpatrick and also becoming familiar with Gailey system, can really benefit both Geno and the Jets.

That would also help the Jets keep money so they can resign and pick up key players they need for next season.

It sucked to see the Jets lose the way they did today, but i will admit, this season did turn out to be a unknown adventure.

I'm ready for next season and all it's uncertainty. #GangGreen

Where was the running game? That's too much to ask of Fitzpatrick, he's not that type of QB. Failures all around.

20th pick in the draft.

My god does this hurt :frown: .

Inexcusable play out there from Revis; how Watkins wasn't double teamed at any point I will never understand. Darrelle let him do his thing and appeared to not have any real sense of urgency. The defense overall allowing themselves to stay on the field collectively as long as they did.... Bills ATE that clock with a purpose and never let up. Feel damn bad for Wilk, broken leg and will need surgery.

When it came down to Fitz having to force throws, the Fitz of old showed up with 3 picks. That first one to Decker in the Endzone :x he had Ivory WIDE open on the flat to his right side and he could have crawled in for the score. I respect and appreciate everything he did all season, played his ******* heart out, but man.. today was the worst timing to have a bad game.

Penalties, inability to stop Buffalo on 3rd downs, and some key drops (Marshall, Decker and Thompkins on that last drive) were our downfall. We all knew Pitt wasn't losing to Cleveland, this was all on us and we blew it.

Onto next year. We need O-Line help and LB's with speed. Deuces to Cro, Kerley and likely D'Brick. Hopefully Milliner too.

i don't think Buffalo had a 3 & out all game. defense was on the field waay too long for us to have any chance.

what happened to us running the ball? Ivory was running well but didn't have a single carry in the red zone. Fitz throwing it 37 times is not ideal.

Ivory had a handful of carries I think :x he had to been banged up to have Ridley be the lead back.

Can't wait to have Folk back, and Quigley HAS to go.

we officially have the 20th pick in the draft

checked out a few mocks & the "experts" have us taking Zeke Elliott or Leonard Floyd

If we take Elliott do we part ways with Ivory? Or retain him and go into the season with them two and Bilal? Floyd would be nice if he has speed him to because our LB core is unbearably slow.

Realistically, we need to go O-Line with that pick, or trade down.

Leonard Floyd:

Skill-Set Summary: From a skill-set perspective, a lot of athletes similar to Floyd have been drafted early in recent years. Edge rushers like Vic Beasley, Dee Ford and Jarvis Jones have been similar defenders who have been taken in the first round of the past three NFL drafts. Floyd could follow suit in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Floyd is a speedy pass-rusher who can consistently put pressure on the quarterback. He has a fast first-step with the ability to burn tackles with pure speed around the edge. Floyd is very fast and has natural pass-rush agility. He could use some refinement and expansion to his pass-rushing moves for the NFL.

The big area that Floyd has to improve is his run defense. He has to get better at defending downhill runs coming straight at him. Floyd can get pushed too easily in the ground game. Last year after getting run over all day in a loss to Florida, he was briefly benched. Floyd has to get at better taking on blocks, holding his ground and shedding blocks. If he doesn't get better at this, teams will continue to run at him in the SEC and the NFL.

This training camp Floyd has been cross-trained at middle linebacker, and if he plays well there, that could widen his appeal to NFL teams, especially 3-4 defenses that could line Floyd up on the inside or outside.

For the NFL, Floyd could fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker. His length and speed makes him projectable as a standup edge rusher. In a 4-3 defense, he would have to be an outside linebacker who rushes off the edge in passing situations.

Sucks that I had to watch us lose at work

When I have the strength I'll come back in here and post what we should do for the off season, an off season that should definitely include adding young, fast linebackers to the team

One of the big questions from the Jets' loss: Why only six carries for Chris Ivory? Todd Bowles said it was a game plan-related decision. Basically, they wanted Ivory to replace Bilal Powell (inactive) as the third-down back, with Stevan Ridley starting in the base. It sounds like Ivory's sore knee was a minor factor; Bowles said they wanted to keep him fresh. Back in October, when Ivory was destroying defenses, the notion of making him a situational player would've been preposterous.

Jets star Brandon Marshall seemed to be talking about fellow receiver Kenbrell Thompkins when he said, "At the end, we had our chances. We didn't come through in our (WR) room. We've got to take advantage of that moment. That's when you get a chance to make your name, and we just didn't do that." Thompkins had a long pass knocked out of his hands by Bills CB Mario Butler in the final seconds. It might have gone for a 73-yard TD.

Wish @Essential1 was a Jets fan to do an off-season write up for us like he did the Yanks  .

That loss was hurt man. Watched the game with my buddies at my friend's house. Proud of our team.

I will post Insider articles about Jets here whenever I can.

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!

In the end, Fitz was Fitz, the Jets were the Jets. Fools gold, didn't beat a decent team all year despite a depleted New England squad.

Revis was out there playing 10 yards off Sammy all day not sure why that was happening (health?)

O-Line needs to be addressed with our 1st round pick, Mangold/D'brick are our best guys and are over-the-hill. Need to start getting younger on that side.

day after: still stings bros.

I didn't really look into prospects yet because I was so sure we would be in the playoffs lol.

looking into the draft, we def need ILB-OLB help. And also revamp the the O-Line.
