2019-20 New York Jets season thread. 1-4 (10/21 vs NE MNF)

Apparently his mom begged him to retire after they saw Concussion together. Pay cut could've been what put him over.

felt like even before he officially retired that it was time to look for an OT regardless.
Maybe mid rounds... now it's definitely an emphasis to look at the blind side in the first 2

I can't fault D'brick, dude was 100% professional and one of the few first rounders that paned out for this franchise. I'm just shocked more than anything. Also, this changes the draft strategy.

Definitely was, hate the fact some jets fans are ******** on him because they feel he didn't want to play for "cheap". :smh:

just woke up and saw the news. i'm legit sad :frown:

a cornerstone of our OL for years, will probably get his #60 in the Ring of Honor. #ThankYouBrick

Jets will have LT options at 20, but don't assume they wait til the draft. Could look at trading for Ryan Clady, Joe Thomas or Luke Joeckel.

can't

Exactly. Can't fault the dude at all.

If anything I'm proud and happy for the guy.

He played at a high level for 10 years, and can walk away in his own terms... and most importantly - healthy.

Not a lot of guys can boast that career.

And like someone said. Dude was a soldier. A leader on and off the field. Only missed one snap his whole career. ONE.

that's unheard of. He's the prime example of what you want from a player when you draft him.

Hope he gets work on SNY to talk Jets.

Not feeling the joe Thomas trade talk, very good player but he's 31. Jets need to get younger

I mean damn. If it ain't one thing it's another. Now we gotta fill a hole at LT?! SMH.

Brick wasn't worth what he was being paid. Giving $10M to the 60th ranked (PFF) left tackle in the league isn't smart.

He's one of the best Jets of all time but i'm glad we're able to move on.

we traded a 5th rounder for Ryan Clady & a 7th. glad we found Brick's replacement ASAP

Jets and Broncos have been working on the Ryan Clady deal for over a week, in anticipation of D'Brickashaw Ferguson's retirement.

I'm told Clady adjusted his deal to facilitate.

big contract currently but I can't wait to see the restructured contract.

Mike moves fast man. Nice to see he did his due diligence to fill that hole right away once D'Brick retired.

I can see D'Brick being a professional about it and discretely telling the organization that he's leaning towards retirement so the team can focus on getting a replacement.

Hoping he gets the D'Brick juice and stays healthy though.

I understand the move i just hope he stays healthy.

Per a source with knowledge of the contract, Clady will make $6 million in 2016. Of that amount, $3 million is guaranteed. Another $1.5 million is available in incentives based on playing time and postseason honors.

The Jets hold an option for 2017 at $10 million. The amount of the 2017 salary can increase to $13 million based on 2016 playing time. There’s also a bonus of $2.5 million due in February 2017, forcing the Jets to make a quick decision on whether they’ll keep Clady for the second year.
