Shoe Storage Question....Vol. Plastic Shoe Boxes

I know a lot of heads have and use these, including most of the major heads, mayor, ck, perfect pair, etc. I even have a handful of them too, and contemplating grabbing 50 more...question is, are they harmful for shoes? I mean the climate of the room will be stable, dark, cool, dry. But I mean the boxes, do they make the shoes moist, so like mold, or do they keep them from air so they dry out?

What are your opinions on them?

You're going to have half saying they harm shoes and the other half saying no they don't. I don't believe that anyone really knows the truth.

I just keep mine out of the sunlight in my room. I feel that is more harmful than anything. I have been buying the clear containers from Michaels, the front folds down and they stack high and sturdy. I like these since I don't have to unstick anything ever anymore

I went on Michaels website to find the containers you mentioned but couldn't find any. Would you happen to have a pic of the bar code or name?

id love to have one large piece (plastic furniture?) that keeps like 30-50 pair, that i can leave the kicks in and move the entire unit whenever needed. if that makes sense

I just bought a couple of huge sterilites that fit like 6-7 pairs in just because it's easier to transport and saves closet space.  Drilled a lot of holes on the sides to let them breathe.

The one dude(RussianBear maybe?) who posts in the pickup thread has some nice clear boxes/displays

Similar to this(but bigger)...probably not as durable as regular plastic but aesthetically :x :pimp:

Im adding my own labels to mine for my foams (yes I have that many lol). But they're 11.99 retail at Michaels, they put them 40% off about once a month or every other, I caught them at 50%, plus my 10% military discount, well they only had 9, so I asked for a raincheck for 60 more, so she wrote me a raincheck. This way when they get more and they're no longer on sale I'll still get all the discounts on them.

It's all about aesthetics.

People will tell you all kinds of things, but none of it matters substantially. They just had a good experience or bad one doing one thing and they equate correlation with causality, like your grandmother who claims she can tell if your wife is going to have a boy or a girl by the way her belly hangs.

Don't worry, most people looking to preserve their sneakers will be long gone onto the next silly fad long before the need to have preserved things that shouldn't have been produced in the first place place becomes an issue.

No shots at anybody specifically in this thread.

I mostly just do mine so I can access them. Too lazy to lift up a ton of boxes to get to the bottom of the stack

Good point. Yes, practical considerations are a legitimate concern too.

But, the dorks that talk about - I keep my shoes in a temperature-controlled vault set at blah, blah. I don't buy any of that crap. ...Imagine what you would do if you owned something of ACTUAL value? ...These same dudes probably let their wife sleep at home at alone with a broken lock on the door while they are out touring the Dunk Xchange circuit too.

Oh hell no. I'm not gonna keep valuable kicks in my trunk during the summer but if they're indoors thats good enough.

There's no reason to take anything in regards to shoes that seriously
