Always weird when you see folks you grew up around getting in major trouble.

I know that feel. A close friend of mine from middle school, in the BX, was also charged with murder some years back and was actually featured on America's Most Wanted:

Cops Nab Fugitive Joseph Roman in Vegas For The 2008 Murder of Daniel Wallace

View media item 1098122

Date: March 14, 2008, 8:37 p.m.
Location: In front of 1490 Metropolitan Ave., Parkchester, The Bronx.
It took just over two years, but the police have arrested a man sought in the 2008 slaying of 19-year-old Daniel Wallace of Unionport Road in the Bronx.

NYPD detectives and folks with the Las Vegas Police Department and the U.S. Marshals arrested Joseph Roman, 21, for shooting Wallace three times in the chest. Wallace died at Jacobi Medical Center.

The folks at DCPI didn't know much more than that, but there's a lot more on America's Most Wanted, which claimed credit to tipping off cops to Roman's whereabouts.
Interestingly, the case detective, Kenny Kearns, not only knew Roman as a worker in his family's McDonald's, but had tried to keep him on the straight and narrow.

Roman won a basketball scholarship to Dominican College, but dropped out and returned to the Bronx to run with gangs. In March, 2008, Roman attacked Wallace in the street. Wallace went home, got a hammer, and attacked Roman. Roman went and got a gun and shot Wallace.

He fled the city, landing in Chester, Penn., where he worked at a Metro PCS store and lived under the alias, Jason Mendez, while on the lam. Cops found out, but by then, he had fled. They finally found him in Las Vegas, and there the trail ended.

Life is just so unpredictable. Never in a million years would I have imagined Joseph would end up like that because he was just a chill dude with a likable personality.

:smh:

...

Dude 19 and already done so much harm to society ... This dude can't possibly be rehabilitated.

19 all he know is street and now going to jail possibly 25 to life ... SMH.

I just couldn't do it ...

A guy I went to junior high with got in a high speed chase with a state trooper. Wrecked the car and somehow gained control of the trooper car after wrestling with him. Started driving at the trooper and got shot ******ed.

Dude used to give me rides to school caught a body. Him and his brother shot somebody at a bus stop. Never knew he was about that life.

Yeah I was even thinking of getting back in touch with some people to see how they are doing. It's just crazy

Yeah it's ridiculous and he seemed like an alright guy outside of acting out in class. It's just saddening to actually know someone my age is doing this stuff out here on the streets. I grew up in the hood too but I don't associate with a majority of those type of people for this very reason tho

Yea I know a dude from middle school who actually killed one of his good friends later on..Crazy thing is he got off because of a lack of evidence, but basically the guy who he murdered beat him up and then a week later he's dead..Obvious, however, doesn't hold up in court. The murderder use to whisper my name in class (he sat behind me), he would be like Jimmmyyyy...Jimmmmyyyyy...Damn pyscho

this thread is crazy, the dude who use to live next door to me and always babysat me is on death row right now for killing a family and trying to set their trailer on fire, he was high on wet

We weren't friends but this guy that was on basketball & football team back when I was in high school is doing 50 years. Why? Had a shoot out with the police. He got hit with 2 counts of attempted murder.

God woke me up the hard way..

Scarred 4ever but I'm still grateful..

this story is really tragic and trippy, the death of the second brother happened last year...i knew both brothers through mutual acquaintances, they went to a nearby HS...
Man, 25, laid to rest next to the twin brother he stood trial for killing six years ago... days after he was accidentally shot after moving to Georgia to rebuild his life
• -Wael Ali's distraught family buried him next to his brother, Wasel Ali, on Tuesday
 • -The student was shot in the front of the neck by a family friend by accident
 • -Ranouf  Sanad has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct and pointing a weapon at another person
 • -Wael had moved with his family from Columbia to Marietta, Georgia, to move on with his life and was 'very optimistic about his future'
 • -He was tried and then freed last year in the death of his twin and closest friend whose body was found on August 27, 2007 in a wooded area
 • -Wael was charged with first-degree murder four years later
 • -As twins sharing the same DNA no DNA evidence was found at the scene with no other murder weapon besides hands to provide finger prints
 • -Wasel's murder remains unsolved but the police said they may now close the case following the death of their prime suspect
