What are your thoughts or examples of old way of thinking in this new way of living.

My example - Just got off the phone with a good friend of mines. He is an all american guy. Love his country, live/die for his country and want to serve his country. Did a 4 year sting with the Marines right out of highschool and now his running a couple of his father's stores and his feels incomplete. A while back he took the NYS troopers exam and scored a 98 plus five points for veteran. He was called and after doing all the interviews he was told he couldn't proceed unless he removes his visible tattoos. He explain that his tattos were from his time serving his country and he wasn't going to remove it. He was disqualified.

I don't see why would law enforcement agencies are doing this?

Feel sorry for my friend as that's what he really wants to do ... He feels so bumbed and in disbelief .. He doesn't need money his parents are loaded and its not a job for him but rather his duty.

What you think? I can understand tattos and stuff can make someone look unapproachable but in today society I think **** like this would be more linient.

When you hold a position as an authority figure, your appearance counts.

Lol@tattoo from his time serving.

Like the marines are the ones who gave him the tat

Being a veteran should be more of a strike against him than tattoos.

that was foul

OP where are your friends tats located

an yes Troopers are def held to a different standard, I know in CT this wouldnt shock me either.........an they all wear a certain type of hair cut black or white

good gig though..........they got it good

The militarization of the police is a serious concern. I don't want someone used to Afghanistan policing American streets.

You should've said this to be more clear, now they gonna come for ya neck. messed up he can't get the position he wants, but honestly he sounds like he's doing fine.

What else would I mean? The dorks who stand and clap when a soldier walks through the airport can kick rocks.

Who just randomly starts clapping whenever they see a soldier at the airport? Are you talking about family and friends waiting for soldiers when they come back from deployment?

Not getting into details but I know his tatts have meaning ( Marines Emblem, Unit Emblem, etc) but I think the USMC is only visible.

Also where are his tattoos located, couldn't he just wear sleeves?
ah gotcha

According to the website ... One can't have visible tattoos while wearing a V neck short sleeve. I guess they also don't want those accross the upper chest tattoo. Plus they are against symbolic tattoos that goes against what they belief visible or not.

I guess u have the right to do that thanks to them. I guess you don't know the meaning of being patriotic. Don't respect what man woman and child have fought and died for.

I guess people can't be happy and see their family friends or Americas soldiers come back in one piece.

Its cool my dude ... Nothing wrong with that. You be surprised how many of these individuals are actually in law enforcement.

My question wasn't about him and his tattoos but rather about why even now **** like this is still the norm?

I mean ... U can't discriminate against race, religion, sexual preference, etc but against tattoos or piercing?

The same about a young man dressing "hood" in a "nice" establishment not getting the same treatment because the mentality is he can't afford it or he doesn't belong.

V neck short sleeve? What the hell...

Sorry bro, they didn't want your friend to begin with.

What Officer wears a V neck on duty?

Hmm... is it really that high to the point it's on his neck?

EDIT: Just peeped NYPD uniforms  Y'all uniforms ugly as hell! :x
Na he doesnt have anything on his neck ... I was just stating what was on the site .. I believe his only visible tattoo is a Marine Emblem traditional style around tri or inner bicep ...

BTW .. That's a city uniform not State Trooper

Well if you can't see it with the uniform on... I don't see how that's a problem. Shrugs.

State Trooper uniform is still boring... though a lot better than City uniforms.

Hell no  I mean, not us atleast.

Trooper are gonna have stupid tattoo rules but require you wear that dumb hat. Tell him to try regular cops or move down state and try NYPD if he's not set on being a trooper.
