Stephen A. Smith Apologizes about Domestic Violence Views

For starters attack someone in defense is NOT the same as forcing sex on somebody.
well now you are making your interpretation of provoke.

You can provoke smeone to beat you but you cant provoke someone to rape you? Please explain ....

This comparing women to children stuff is 100x more offensive than anything Stephen said.

That mentality is extremely sexist and a large part of the problem when it comes to taking female violent and sexual offenders seriously.

Because punching somebody in the mouth and then getting hit back is not the same thing as being raped because of perceived provocation.

I punch you so you punch me back = I rape you so you rape me back

?

What?

I don't even know what you're asking me now. I don't even see how the rape thing is even relatable to what sas said.

The very reason i hate stuck up feminist ********!! No way around it. If you can hit someone you better be prepared to get hit back. PERIOD.

Look above
the definition of provoke is to annoy......you are reaching sir......
oh word ... thats all?

: deliberately make (someone) annoyed or angry.

: to cause the occurrence of (a feeling or action) : to make (something) happen

: to cause (a person or animal) to become angry, violent, etc.

by you saying "a person(the victim) can provoke someone(the rapist) to rape them" is horribly wrong.
You're doing exactly what Michelle Beadle did

again ... when did SAS say hit ... he said provoken.. stop making **** up ....

a person can be provoke without any violence involved. What dont u grasp here? Do you think that wife beaters are only provoked by physical violence? They are provoke by the most meaningless BS. Oh u talking while im playing COD and intold u not to do that. Boom ***** u provoked me,

back to rape ... a woman can provoke a guy to get hard by what she wears by dancing touching even sucking but unless she opens her legs and say yes is still rape, but back to your thinking ... She provoked him so I'm going to stick it in ...

your reading comprehension is terribly wrong.

Raping someone and attack someone due to being "provoked" is not the same

You're wrong and you have multiple people telling you're wrong. But back to your way of thinking .....

how so, I fully comprehend that you were using provoke in lieu of the word arouse.
what you're saying is that because a woman dresses, acts or does certain things if she gets raped it is her fault because she provoked it?

I think people had a problem with Stephen A's choice of the word "provoke", you can't throw that word around when talking about domestic violence or man on woman violence. Provoke means differently for different people.

To me, provoking would be hitting someone or coming at them with a weapon but another person's idea of being provoked could be "that b*tch is running her mouth too much, I'll shut her up." Stephen A Smith was saying comments like, "women: don't say or do anything to provoke a man's anger" which came across as: women have to walk on eggshells because if they "provoke" a man by angering him or upsetting him, this is what happens.

I got the gist of what Stephen A was trying to say, it was just poorly worded..& in a sterile, sensitive media environment of COURSE there was going to be outrage.
Don't know why it's so hard for people to understand this. All they gathered from this is "girls shouldn't hit boys either."

so is that how u do it? LoL is blastercombo what do we expect.

just cause u and others see provoke as beating and I dont im wrong? Face it my dude .... u thought unwas killing it thinkin provoke = hitting and it does not ..

dude posting definitions of provoke but I dont see provoke = beating .. u r awsome dude ..,

Reading too much into this. "Putting the blame on the victim and not the abuser"
Seriously?
He meant it as, some females get angry and just start hitting, not everyone has the same amount of patience. And even if it's just a "female" shouldn't put your hands on someone.

When did I say it was only hitting? Quote it.

Look up the word provoke, now tell us if you could provoke a rape.

While you're at it tell us what raping has to do with what SAS was even talking about without doing the beadle reach

if u thinking that a woman can provoke a man into beating her then u must believe that a woman can provoke a man into rapping her ,,,

I dont think either ... im all for walking away if being provoke ... im not the one saying provokes mean a woman beating a man then getting beat back.

If that's what he meant, why didn't he just say that? Do you not understand telling someone not to provoke can imply other things beside putting your hands on someone?

i don't think stephen a meant that a women's actions were justification for her getting hit. i think he very clearly said he doesn't condone domestic violence. i don't think to acknowledge a female's wrongdoing in the altercation = justifying the male's role in the violence.

it's not okay to hit women. it is okay to say she was also wrong, without saying that justifies him hitting her.

just my 2 cents.
