Um, they Real Madrid? Lol

I don't know anything about the kid tho, but I'm sure Real Madrid can do the best they can to get the best out of him. Loans, the B team, training with the best players in the world. Things that Barça have been doing for years (which I guess Madrid are trying to catch up on). Also, maybe the kid living in Scandinavia decided it was finally time to see the Sun for more than 3 hours a day?

name the last superstar to come from their academy...

Speaking of the match though, couple of key points I can remember

1. Bale seemed to be the technical weak point on the attack of players who were trying to link up. I think it was coupe who made fun of his sloppy control in his Madrid introduction and I thought he was making too much of something silly, but this dude really just lacks that technical ability.

2. I know Pepe was out today, but has there ever been as great of a center back duo with as little discipline as those 2?

3. If Atletico scores one goal in the return leg, Real will need to score 4. Atletico won this match handily while having one eye on their weekend tie with Barcelona. It's crazy how they've had Real's number, and were a last minute equalizer by Ramos in the CL final away from making Real their ***** to legendary proportions. I think that's 5 in a row unbeaten now against Real since.

4. You can call me a homer, but the ref did a poor job overall on the match. Especially those blatant fouls on James in the first half that should have warranted a yellow card and free kick from a danger position. Then the stupid one against Ronaldo too.

5. Isco is the man

6. I want Bale to go to United. I'm sure he'll pop up with big goals and assists in counter attacks, but he keeps Real from playing the beautiful football they played when he was out and Isco was starting.

agreed with bale's technical ability...hes athleticism is amazing but he's definitely outclassed by the other attacking madrid players.

still top tier player but madrids talent just overshadows him sometimes

Raul? Idk Lol

That's not what I'm bringing up tho. Just saying they've been trying to finally focus on youth development and keep up with the Jones (Barca) so it's not like they don't have the resources. If he's as good as they say - he should not have a problem. But I don't think it takes much to impress a 16y/o from Norway so I'm not surprised he ended up at RM.

TOP STORY: Suarez heading for Premier League return?

While speculation continues to mount concerning Lionel Messi's future at Barcelona , it seems another Camp Nou forward could be on his way to the Premier League -- one Luis Suarez.

The Daily Mail reports that the Uruguayan's future is far from certain following the dismissal of sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta on Monday, with the former Liverpool striker so far failing to justify his 75 million-pound summer transfer.

With Blaugrana coach Luis Enrique's position under threat and the potential upheaval of presidential elections come the end of the season, the paper suggests Suarez could become the fall-guy as Cesc Fabregas was last season -- and that would put the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and even Manchester United on alert.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I wonder if Valdes signing with United makes it easier for Madrid to go after DdG...

Yes and no.

Yes cause there is a quality backup. But let's face it. Valdes is 32. United have relied on DDG so heavily that he has essentially been the entire defensive line for United at times. So United will try everything in their power to keep him. They also know that if DDG got injured (before Valdes arrived) United's formation would automatically turn into 0-3-3, so finally having a quality backup allows DDG to still feel like the man, apply some incentive on him to always perform, but also for him to know if he picks up even the slightest of knocks he can take some time off.

apparently real rolled out the private jet and all to go get him.. just don't see how they appeal to such a young player .

Um, they Real Madrid? Lol

In a way I think I get what he's trying to say, clubs like Madrid if you even have an off day or two, there's others who are willing and able to replace you. I think some people would have preferred to see him goto a club where there was a great academy, less pressure, and space for him to grow. I know Madrid has amazing facilities, and it's really up to him to make the best of his situation.

I remember I think it was Adam Johnson saying young players shouldn't goto a club like a Citeh (a super power club) cause if you have a bit of a slump or even an injury or something, another star will replace you and you'll struggle to get back into the team because it's moved on without you.

Is there a website or chart that tracks completed transactions across europes top leagues thus far?

It's funny, Madrid loses technically it's 3rd game (counting the AC Milan friendly) in a row, Carlo doesn't play Ronnie till late, & there's no cry for elections, new sporting director, or new manager.

Interesting fact, Carlo is the first Madrid manager to lose 3 consecutive derbies... :rolleyes

I agree with that tho, if I was him I wouldn't go to "power club". I'd go to a club like Sporting and grow up from there, but I'm not 16 years old.

But all his suitors were big teams right? Madrid, Barca, Bayern were all interested so it doesn't surprise me that out of the big clubs the kid chose Real Madrid. It was going to be a big club nonetheless. I think now that Madrid has him tho, I think they can make it work - but he has to make it work as well.

I wouldn't have done it, but I understand it.

I think part of the reason the kid chose Madrid was that he might've gotten assurances in his contract that he'd be on the first team by a certain amount of time.

BTW, would you swap DDG for Bale this Summer?

No. Bale? That's laughable. And I REALLY respect what Bale is capable of, and like him as a player, but no.

In fact, there probably isn't a player in the world I would swap DDG with. As much as Neuer is in his prime, he's 28, DDG is 24. You probably would think I'm wilding out, but I wouldn't trade DDG for Ronaldo/Messi at this point. He's young, only getting better, and no one else can cover for what he can do (Messi & Ronaldo, while one player may not be able to replicate their ability to single-handledly win a match, a combination of 2 players might...the same can't be said for DDG, he's the last line of defence and handles it like a veteran). That's how valuable I think he is to United (and this isn't just based on his recent form, it's from watching him from when he first arrived as a skinny kid).

Wasn't it Eric Steele that DdG really learned from?

What ever happened to Anders Lindegaard?
