I'll wait to see how Kane's second season is before getting exciting.

I've seen this far too often from many a player.

Can anyone list some of the players you've seen this type of stuff from before?

Either to refresh my memory or maybe I wasn't into footy like that or long enough to see these shenanigans happen before.

I'm taking about the English media hyping the HELL out of a player based on one (maybe) two seasons.

Have we already forgotten WORLD'S GREATEST?

Kane has 30 total goals

35 in all competitions if you include his ones for England U21 as well.
Hey man I hear you, the dude has had a knack for being at the right place at the right time all season to score. But I've seen this tale before, we all have. Yesterday's goal was OD to me, the media reaction I mean not the goal. They're putting him on a crazy pedestal , I don't like to see that. It was fun when we're joking about him being jesus and winning the ballon dor, but what I read yesterday is just mounting pressure.

I'm rooting for him tho, but I still want to see more.
Media attention if definitely over the top of course, but it's the British press, as you know that's just the nature of the beast, if he keeps on scoring it will only increase.

He's already been pushed to the forefront by the FA as the home grown hero poster boy for their xenophobic new "initiative"

This.

As much as I love the lad, we all know a purple patch isn't the true indicator of a good player... a really good, world class player... that comes over the test of time, doing it week in, week out, season after season against top opposition.

I mean at the moment, you can't fault the boy, you can only beat what is in front of you and that's what he is doing -with aplomb... but we need to wait for that notoriously difficult second album to see what he's really about.

Form is temporary... class is permanent.

Yea man, I saw an article today that said "spurs must hold on to superstar Kane"

Like seriously? Everyone needs to relax and let the dude have some time.

I agree about the overreaction but that's the good 'ol British media for you plus he's been one of the few bright spots for English football this season . I did see an article asking if he's gonna surpass Rooneys eventual England scoring mark  :x.

He's no "superstar" yet but if he can keep this up consistently than the sky's the limit for him.

Some of the players have been buying in as well it seems since Rooney said after the game that the three lions are to be feared once again .

A lot of people were going bananas with Kane's goal yesterday.

I couldn't believe it.

Maybe some were being sarcastic...

I mean, the guy is clearly doing it this season, but he needs more than one season to call him a "superstar."

Kane wearing #18 :pimp: If only he didn't play for Spurs smh. Deal-breaker on buying any of his kits.

That's what I mean, these articles are ridiculous. It's like they took the "Kane God" comedic narrative we've been talking about all season and turned it into a reality overnight "Kane's a superstar.." "Will he break Rooney's record.." - Some of this stuff is pure bafoonary.

As for what Rooney said, he's supposed to say that. He's a teammate and he needs to encourage him. But as far as England being "feared again", no idea where he got that from  I don't ever remember that happening in my lifetime. If England plan to be good it's going to happen because of Raheem Sterling, nevermind Kane's goal yesterday - the move and cross Sterling gave to him was filthy.

For some reason Spurs has a habit of their players being hailed as next chosen one...

Remember David Bentley?

Being called the next Beckham, and being blasted all over the sports papers as if he was the second coming after that one stellar season he had.

Ask yourself what happened after that season.

English media is so desperate to have world beaters that they trump up their players and put on so much unnecessary pressure.

Imagine what the world would be like if England really did have a superstar, Imagine how much slurpage there would be if Ronaldo or Messi were English. :x

I think it's cool any time there is a superstar of any nationality or race

Because if Harry Kane is turning the British Press into slurping overzealous gasbaggers - I can't imagine what Ronaldo or Messi would have turned the British press into. I'm talking about the British media machine.

Watching this Belguim game to see De Bryune - Fellani just scored a beauty with his left foot, dude has two goals today. He's ballin.

Speaking of two goals, Gareth Bale scored twice today too - showing signs of life :nerd:

Personally they might be setting Kane up for failure. Unrealistic expectations before anything takes off could crush him.

If we want to be honest England has Sterling and it seems like he's getting pushed to the side just to fit a narrative of "homegrown talent".
