Classic "if you don't agree with me you're wrong" rhetoric.

Doesn't surprise me at the usuals that run with that mantra on here.

I can't fully agree with you on that psk. I have no problem with anyone hating rival teams once they've embraced a team as their own and learn to respect the history there. It's just another part of being a fan. As long as it's the fun form of hate and not the violent and destructive kind that also exists.

My Barca hate has fully been justified...on 2 separate occasions

Now Ro, I can understand why you hate Barca given the CL history...

But they aren't a traditional rival like City & Liverpool.

I didnt used to mind Barca as much up until Rijkaard left. It changed for me when Pep took over and they became a juggernaut, those CL losses were devastating :smh:.

There hasn't been much reason to hate on 'Pool lately but I still dislike them,Chelsea's taken their spot. You're right about City though over the past 5-6 years, they're right up there with Barca for me .

I understand why some people really get into the rivalries, cause they've researched and really feel something towards their club.

Personally, I don't really care of them. I laugh at rivals' performances, but I really can't say I hate them like many do. Hell I even gladly watch a rivals match when they're not playing against the club I support. I just don't feel so heavily vested in the culture to feel the need to hate another club just because a ship canal was built in the city of the club that I support, which took jobs away from the area of the rival club..............................................in the 1800's.

I def think hate is a little overboard for a traditional rival. I'm an Arsenal fan. I dislike Spurs and Chelsea, and too a much smaller extent, Man U and City.

I am also a Barca fan, and am not too fond of RM.

But i don't HATE Them.

BUT....

WHo am I to tell others what to believe and who to like and dislike?

I dislike that many folks on here try to IMPOSE their beliefs/opinions on others.

Not everyone THINKS like you gents. The sooner you get this, the sooner you become more tolerant and respectful of others opinions/logic.

Like take our man heggsy heggsy , he's from there so if he hated Derby County or Nottingham, I'd understand. Shoot, he might be from a long line of heggsy heggsy FC supporters.

But I supported that club, what vested right do I have to really hate those rivals? I mean sure when the derbies are played, I'd like to see heggsy heggsy FC win & in general see the rivals lose but I'm not from there. I wouldn't fully understand the rival except for the logic that tells me I'm supposed to hate those clubs...

Yea on second thought I'd call it more of a strong dislike ,hate's too much of a loaded word.

See Fresco, you take things so personally. I didn't say or hint at how people should think, I just personally don't understand how someone can adopt hate of rivals when they're not from there...

Fresco always fresh with the salt... I get high blood pressure just reading some of his posts...

I'm very well aware that not everyone thinks like me because I def don't think like most of the cats on NT. Just posting an OPINION.

I threw out a general statement for the entire thread and YOU took it personally. The irony.

I love how anytime i disagree with you or coupe, you resort to calling me sensitive or salty, lol.

Further proof that you can't handle people disagreeing with you.

When folks don't agree with you, u throw small jabs every chance you get (IE calling it HERb logic a couple of posts up or disagreeing posts salty/sensitive) then play the "opinion" card. How convenient.

One can disagree with OPINIONS without insulting/taking small jabs at folks. I know its hard for you, but give it a shot.

::waits for the inevitable/predictable "Fresco is so salty or sensitive" post::

This is the last time I'll respond to you about this matter in particular because I'm not really about this NT back & forth to see whose the alpha male. You didn't make a general statement. Your post was clearly aimed at me & my post or it wouldn't have come at the moment.

I can disagree with Coupe all the time, but I think we're pretty friendly (for being on a message board). You seem to take such umbrage to posts where the opinion is different from yours, ESPECIALLY IF ARSENAL ARE INVOLVED LORD HAVE MERCY.

You write these soliloquies instead of just saying, I disagree can you explain your logic further? Clearly eiddy got it... Oh well.

Cheers to you anyway though. :smokin

Eh, picking up the rivalries to me is just as harmless as picking up the lingo. As fans, we all have different levels of fandom... I for one do not like using words like banter, blokes, gents (definitely not American terms) which many of you do, including PSK. It'd be easy to judge you for adopting such terms from a culture you have no longstanding vested interest in. But it really is no big deal. Same goes for chants and rivalries.

Go to an Arsenal match and look around you. You'll see hooligans, kids, grandparents, tourists, couples etc of all walks of life. I guarantee you if you asked them on a scale of 1-10 what their fandom for arsenal is and what their hatred for Spurs is, they'd all have different answers... Yet they're all wearing the same exact arsenal jersey. Point is we all pick and choose what parts of any given culture we elect to adopt, rivalries included.

SO i'm asking you to respect others opinions and logic by not insulting them and all of a sudden we're trying to see who's alpha male? LOL. I'm the "bad" guy for wanting this thread to get better. Gotta love NT.

And Eiddy got it as did I (please read above where i blatantly state I don't hate opposing teams), again i'm just not cool with you calling everyone herbs for not agreeing with your logic.

That is all.

Sarcastic cheers back atcha (it was thinly veiled mon ami)

There isn't one person in our family who doesn't support Leicester.

And yep, I've just been brought up to hate Forest and Derby and I really do hate them

I can see where PSK is coming from, but I understand where people are coming from with disliking rival teams, you learn their history and get caught up with their tradition.

Moving on to tonight, we're 7 points away from safety and essentially relegated
Ah well  We might get a shock result tonight

I remember the days where Fresco, Psk, and I had an underground secret group password that we all shared for champions league games. Oh how the times have changed

If I was Pep, no I wouldn't have gone to Bayern. If I could hypothetically "invest" in Pep, I would. But I can't see the parallel with entrepreneurship and Pep choosing Bayern Munich. I think Pep has enough money now that the only thing he's focused on is legacy. I just don't see how Bayern was a challenge. It's easy work. I mean can you really dispute that. I would have loved to have the United job, that would have been a real challenge. He will go to the EPL one day, so I'll judge him when he's there but as for what he's done with Bayern - I mean, doesn't really impress me.

Regarding the word "Hate" I mean some of you guys are taking it to literally, it's more of a figure of speech (haters, hating). I don't really hate Bayern, I dislike what they're about and what they stand for. I do tho really hate Benfica. I cannot stand those son's of *******, but I grew up that way. Like Psk said, that's a rivalry that was actually a part of my life based on a political/geographical tension. I mean I got pictures of me as a baby wrapped in a white/blue blanket, I was taught to hate the color red (it's the Devils color like my godfather always said). I look back at it now and laugh at how stupid some of these things I was forced on, but bro it does not take away that Benfica Hate.

I guess HeggsyFC and Firepower know what I mean by that. Being forced to grow up that way.

I hate you Coupe.... jk...

& Fresco, that Cheers was legit or I wouldn't have typed it. I don't hold grudges... Life is way too short.

Damn, almost forgot Yellow Subs vs Barca...

De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Evans, Rojo, Blind, Herrera, Di Maria, Fellaini, Young, Rooney

Lindegaard, Jones, McNair, Carrick, Mata, Januzaj, Falcao

Fellaini for Falcao.

You guys think Barca is there to play and attack? Or will suffocate the match with possession?

Enrique is more attack oriented but I think Barca plays defense & possession to protect the aggregate...

I have to post to a random pic because that gash is ruining it and the games are about to start. Can't be coming in here and look at that :x
