Rooney's been overrated by the British press for god knows how long. Outside of England, the US and other English speaking countries, he was never really highly regarded
I don't disagree. There was a time Rooney was in the conversation for top-10 footballer after Xavi, Iniesta.

Rooney is rated very highly, and rightly so because of the combination of his ability and most importantly his worth ethic.

His ability may not be on Ronaldo or Messi levels, but pretty much any manager in the world would want him cause he'll have a shot on goal, have it saved and sprint all the way back to make the tackle in the other teams half.

Duly noted. Curious how NT ranks Rooney in relation to Ibra, Kun, Falcao.

I'll tell you right now, if it's a an out and out striker, I'm taking a fit Aguero any day of the week.

To this day, I can't understand how he can be sprinting diagonally, and score far post on those grass cutters he hits. It genuinely boggles my mind. I used to think it was poor keeping, but then you see De Gea, Cech, Begovic, Howard and plenty of other solid keepers letting them through, just a true sign of how good and accurate that shot really is.

Here's an example of the shot I'm talking about...(although he isn't running diagonally as he often does)

he manages to pull that shot off consistently, even when the keeper has better positioning.

Didn't realize City sold Negredo... IIRC, thought he played reasonably well for them last season...

Exactly. We have money and we signed Özil last year. I was optimistic, hoping that things would have changed. But Wenger is stubborn and blind.

My friend has become an Arsenal fan because he's a huge Sanchez fan. I had to explain to him today, that he shouldn't expect anything and that the window will most likely end in a typical fashion, he didn't take it well :smh:

That's the other thing, I for sure thought this morning after reading Falcao was going to United that Arsenal would at least finally come to terms with Sporting for Carvalho. It got United out of the picture and it was the perfect time to swoop in and get him.

But hey, Wenger gon do what he do.

I really feel for Arsenal fans, y'all are becoming the chick in the relationship that keeps staying with the dude who promises he's going to change. But never does

What are the reports in Portugal saying? Is it true that we were unwilling to pay a few extra million?

It pretty much is an abusive relationship at this point, well has been. We just gotta make it to January tho....with no ******* injuries :smh:

Where did Welbeck start off in the youth ranks at United? Was he originally a striker who was played out wide?

Really surprised real didn't land falcao.  I don't know what they are gonna do now.  Incredibly talented team but so many attacking mid field players i don't see how they all fit.  Hoping Khderia can help out as a holding/defensive mid now that Xabi is gone.

I don't know how if you are united you fit RVP Rooney Falcao and Mata on the field together.

About time Ben Arfa gets some shine.  Let that man play

I like Arsenal picking up Welbeck.  I dont think it is the answer to any of their problems but it does help while Giroud is out.  And Welbeck wants to be a true CF and will have a shot at that now.

Raheem Sterling is a nightmare.  That dude is so insanely talented its crazy.  And if its possible i think Sturridge is under rated i love watching him play.  He has a great mix of skill and strength on the ball.  I loved that super Mario was back playing defense.  I really hope he flourishes at Liverpool.

ive never ever liked welbeck, but i have a feeling he'll flourish at arsenal
I think so too. Especially since he will be their main Striker.

Daniel Nii Tackie Mensah Welbeck has been with Utd's academy since he was eight, and I'm pretty sure he's always played as a striker...

good work rate, decent pace and I think he'll do well playing off the main striker...
he's also pretty comfortable as a wide player so that gives Arsenal some options...
I'm just a little surprised that Utd was willing to let him go to a direct rival...

someone has to sit...
personally,i think Mata will sit to accommodate Falcao and RvP,with Rooney and Di Maria just behind them...
or LvG could start with Rooney and Falcao upfront, with RvP starting on the bench...he's shown in the World Cup that he's not afraid to bench his best striker if he doesn't perform...

as a Utd supporter,it's great that Utd finally has quality options on the bench...even after the departures of Kagawa and Chicharito...

RVP will NOT be the main man.

Surgery coming up, he'll be sidelined for a while, then will be eased into the squad very slowly.
