So with the arrival of Di Maria, does LvG continue to play his 3-4-1-2? Where does Di Maria play?

I love playing manager and I have some time. :pimp: They have to go back to a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1.

Rafael - RB
Rojo - CB
Smalling (or whoever is best) - CB
Shaw - LB

DM - Carrick
DM - Herrara

L/RM- Januz
L/RM - Di Maria

CAM/CF - Mata/Rooney
ST - Van Persie

Someone has to sit and the player and fans have to deal with it. Whether its Mata or Rooney, they'll have plenty of chances to start other games if injuries come about. United need speed they've never been so slow, you have to have Di Maria on the wing. Di Maria will cover ground and lead the wing into attack. If you put Mata in as a winger it's a waste of space and talent. Leave that for Januz or Valencia.

So yea, either Rooney or Mata sit down. If Fergie was still around no doubt Rooney would be on the bench.

From the beginning, LVG has said that he is only playing with a back three because of the players that he currently has, and he said he was waiting on a world-class winger and eventually he wanted to go 4-3-3.

He's got options there, as he can play with ADM on the wing with 2 of Mata, Rooney, RVP, Adnan or he can play him in the position that he played last season and excelled, as the most advanced of a midfield 3 and he can still play with Mata and Rooney wide (even though they would likely be slightly diminished there). Also, at the end of the match at the weekend he was playing Adnan in a deeper role, so it's possible he may tinker with playing him as a central midfielder, but with the rest of their squad, if you're playing him and Herrera in a midfield trio, they don't have any player that can slot in with them that will shield the back four and won't have them be overrun in the center of the park.

I think that you have to take the chance of getting a player of his quality, but I still think there are serious issues in the center of the midfield and at the back. Obviously ADM is a quality signing, but the team is still incredibly imbalanced. LVG is quality and he will get the best out of the squad, eventually, but they still need quality in the side in multiple areas. It sounds bad to say that about a team that spend 200m quid in the past year, but it needs to be done.

In the end, they'll be fine and the world will be a worse place for it.

yall laughing at a Utd team thats not even the original starting XI in regular season though

 You're right should have bought Di Maria a couple days earlier so they could have stood a chance against the mighty MK Dons from league 1...

i didnt even mention di maria making a difference so whats funny?

You're the one mentioning that it wasn't their starting XI like it matters. They lost by 4 goals to a league one side with 5 players who started which are in the first team squad( de gea, kagawa, Hernandez, welbeck and Evans). Paint it how you want while you sport your cape, but it's a hilarious loss for a club like united.

your the idiot, kagawa and hernandez? they are not starting XI they are on the bench. van persie, mata and roonie on the pitch would have made a difference

*sigh* you just keep outdoing yourself with new levels of stupidity. I said first team squad, not starting XI. Go on though, take pride in that your starters weren't the ones who lost to a league 1 side by 4 goals. Idiot.

how are you not understanding that United lost to a club that's part of what's practically a rec league?

whats there to understand when its a young/benched unexperienced team? was I suppose to be expecting a B squad team to win even to a "rec league team"?

Yes, because at this point in the League Cup, the teams generally play with a lot of the youth and can usually get results against League 1 sides.

 knew some clown in here was gonna try and defend this MU loss.

Dude really tried to pull if the starting XI argument :smh: This loss would barely be acceptable if it happened to the MU academy team.
