Crazily enough...there is some truth to that statement.
Soccer in the US is a money sport. What soccer is to kids around the world, basketball is to us here. But soccer, you gotta join a club, pay for kits, find a field, all that extra stuff. It's usually suburban communities where all those things are established also.
With that being said it would still take a good amount of time for us to catch up to other nations even if it was more available.
