best news of the year

I thought he did pretty good.

I dont think every english speaking announcer has to be a brit. Gus was cool

It's not because he wasn't British. Ray Hudson's partner Phil Schoen does just fine. Gus isn't a true fan and needs to be immersed in the sport and the culture around it before he can be calling BPL matches let alone elite level champions league matches. Also, his commentating style is made more to enhance highlight plays. I love soccer, but it has a relatively low yell-worthy moments per minute of play . Commentating on soccer was an art that Gus came off as awkward doing.

need to hang with you bruh. i'm a handsome gawd as well
Trust you hold your own. Astoria the likely move again Friday. PM if you're in the area.

Raven's Head is my playground like the French National Team's hotel.

I would have have Ronaldo'ed that. I'm Greedy.

Saw some highlights of Man United. Good stuff, Angel Di Maria :pimp: ( imasoleman18 imasoleman18 can you now apologize for not wanting Di Maria now? )

Also have to give another  for Real Madrid/Florentino Perez for letting this guy go. :smh:

Also Jada is back to his form :smokin
I thought about it, Coupe. But he's my best friend and scarred from a recent ex. Regaining confidence, didn't want to shatter it by pulling a robbery.

Used the right head for once.

Every time I see Blackett out there, I find myself smiling like a proud dad watching his only son that made it.

Been watching him play since he was still in the academy and now he's in the first team :smokin

much sterner tests will come, but considering his age and lack of first-team experience...i'd say he's done well so far...
pretty sure he's the only outfield player besides Rooney that has started in all of Utd's matches this season...
fairly composed, though he needs to work on his awareness - in Utd's first match against Swansea,Blackett didn't prevent Swansea from taking a quick freekick which resulted in them scoring...
yesterday he let Vargas ghost behind him but poor finishing prevented Utd from conceding a goal...

but while we're impressed with Blackett, peep what the manager trainer coach has to say about him...
it's at the 2:50 mark:

Is it me or are their a whole bunch of lefties on Utds squad now?

watch Utd add one more in Strootman...
I can't find the right article/interview,but Van Gaal has mentioned that a squad needs to have the right balance of right/left-footed players...

Mixed feeling about Di Maria.  Madrid should have never let him go but he deserved to shine.  Dude is world class.  That ball he played into rooney that eventurally ended in the Herrera goal...and the one to mata (not sure if that was a shot though

).

Madrid let go the heart and sole of their team by letting Xabi Alonso go to Bayern.  I thought maybe they could have survived the Di Maria departure but to lose both of those players was stupid.  I hope as the season moves forward they mesh better at Madrid but i just don't know

I was surprised to learn that Falcao spoke English at his presser. Never knew that about him. Is that something that's common in Colombia? Or did he learn that in Portugal? (Almost everybody younger than 30 speaks English there?)

Do they not teach kids to speak English in Argentina? Messi, Di Maria, etc as examples.

I was busy watching the Valencia vs Espanyol so I couldn't watch the United game. One really has to temper their excitement being as though the opponent was QPR. The next couple of games on the fixture should be more telling on what this side can handle. Glad to see LvG change his formation to suit the players he had available but I think he's going to try going back to using 3 at the back at some point soon.

It was good to see Mata out there. I hope he finds his way back to playing well again.

I'm sooooooooooo glad johnson is stepping down. It's the right thing to do & I respect him for doing it. As much as I hated him, I respect him for making a sensible decision. Being American wasn't his crime with me, it was everything mentioned previously but also his constant mispronunciation of names. That's a huge no-no in broadcasting. I blame fox more for this fiasco than gus though. It's amazing just how bad their coverage has gotten.

As far as great American footy broadcasters, I'd say Phil Schoen is the absolute best. Pure class & knowledgeable about the sport. He's the perfect compliment to Ray Hudson.

Edit - Interesting tweet.

Lee Seung Woo is on a tear repping for the Korean U16 in the U16 Asian Championships taking place in Thailand... He looks great in the Korean kit...

Goal from a couple of days ago.

A brace against Japan leading the team to the semi finals. That last goal was very Messi like...

I believe it's from his time in Monaco.

I read he just learned it recently last year, looks like his plan was always to move to one of the big clubs in the EPL or Real. LVG making all these guys speak english, Rojo and Di Maria are taking beginners lessons, De Gea, Falcao, and Herrera, in intermediate courses, Valencia who has been in england for almost 8 years is getting a private . Mata speaks well enough, almost with a British accent that he doesn't have to take classes.

LvG like a number of managers speaks multiple languages fluently, 4 to be exact. Dutch, German, Spanish, & English.

I hope we aren't seeing another case of Bojan. He has had one hell of a run though lately.

lucho lucho , we'll see... I will say in this short span that Munir has played on B & for the first team, he's much more active & looking to produce. Bojan tended to disappear for long stretches. I was watching Ajax I think it was last year & I didn't even know he was on the pitch until the announcer said something. Hope he resurrects his career at Stoke.

I never realized how much Luic Remy looks like basketball player (North Carolina Tar heel & NBA) Hubert Davis... :rolleyes

Basically sums up his time as boss as "embarrassing"

According to different reports out of Spain, including some words from Real's former president Ramon Calderon,Ronaldo is fed up at Madrid.

‘My impression is he is fed up with the policy of the current president [Florentino Perez],’ Calderon told talkSPORT.

‘When he came with [Arjen] Robben, he thought he would be a good colleague for him in the team.

‘[Gonzalo] Higuain was sold and he didn’t like that. Last year he thought it was a mistake to let [Mesut] Ozil leave and the last straw was selling Xabi Alonso and Angel di María this summer.’

I wouldn't even be surprised,Perez has done his best to butcher his best squads once there's a semblance of team chemistry it seems. If some of these rumours are actually true, I'm hoping that Woody would be in the cut with Mendes on the phone

Every year for the last several years there is always rumor of Ronaldo going back to United. :rolleyes The crescendo seemed to be the last campaign SAF was there. It seemed to ramp up after the CL matches when between Madrid & United that campaign.

True but this seems to be a year where it might actually happen given the current state Real is in and the growing discontent between him and the team management. Unless they somehow get it together and are able to compete in the league while also defending their CL title well, the discontent is only going to grow.

You're probably right that these are just new rumours in the annual line of "CR7 back to Man U" stories but I'm still holding out a sliver of hope that we'll eventually get to see him back in red
ohwell.gif
.

He's not really helping with the speculation himself though with the constant interviews where he says he'd like to come back eventually

Nothing got the rumors floating stronger than Ronaldo told the Madrid press that he was "sad" back in '12... Perez will probably offer a €900k + a week salary that will resolve all issues shortly... :rolleyes
