Arteta looks like he's gonna be out for a few weeks.
Gibbs is out for 2-3 weeks.
Sanogo, might be out for a week or so. If he isn't back by this weekend

QPR wants Coquelin on loan
Barca want to loan Song. I for one don't want to see him back at Arsenal at all
Haven't seen much of Song since he left for Barcelona but if he could come anywhere come close to replicating his 2011 form I'd replace him for Arteta in an instant.

needs true CB.. signs a LB..

I'm all for Di Maria, but how does that fix the problems we have/had last couple yrs.. need a CB, CMF (possibly two) and then someone like Di Maria.
Fellaini appears to be hurt :smh: even more of a reason to sign Vidal.. Lets say we cant sign World class players because of no CL.. why haven't we bought Vlaar, De Jong, Bling, etc.. FFS we can get Song on loan for free and yet NOTHING

While I hear you we've had problems for years. But one of the major problems that we have right now, if you saw the Swansea game, is that United have NO pace. We just got rid of another with pace player in Nani, so we need someone who can spark something from the mid into the final 3rd.

So we' ve had long standing issues at the back and the mid, now we have a great offensive lineup in the front, but no one with pace to get them to the ball early enough to make magic.

Modric signs a new contract until 2018.

:pimp:

Now it's time for Di Maria, get it done Florentino.

Well Ancelotti isn't exactly making things easier...

After the match...

Atletico coach Simeone: Di Maria is Real Madrid's best player.

Ancelotti: Di Maria the best? I think Simeone has forgotten the Golden Ball winner and Bale, who scored in Lisbon.

Ancelotti: Di Maria is a Real Madrid player and I will use him as I want in the field.

Its a shame they can't all be on the field at the same time.  They have so much talent in there.  Kroos looked good yesterday he is just pure class out there really like the way he is fitting in.  I think Modric is forever under appreciated.  He works back extremely well.  Bale disappeared in the second half.  I think anyone who has seen him play knows Di Maria deserves more time on the pitch.

But what do you do?  Benz - Ronaldo - Bale - James - Kroos - Modric - Di Maria.  How do they all play at the same time?  That doesn't count Xabi Alonso and my man Isco who i love and wish could get more time.

I watched the post-game press conference, that's worded a bit different too make something out of nothing imo.

He said, "he's a Real Madrid player, I will use him how I want, and how I think I can use him at that time."

When asked what he thought of Simeone's comments he said (chuckled first), "he's one of the greats that Real Madrid has, saying that though he must have forgotten the ballon d'or winner, Bale who scored in the final in Lisbon. I have the luck of coaching some of these great players and Di Maria is one of them."

Simeone is just trying to stir some trouble.

I'd be surprised if Di Maria doesn't start Friday.

 @ how upset we all are that a injury prone youngster who has never scored in a real game is due to miss a tough away trip to a good team due to injury (Shock!) since the current starting CF option is totally hopeless.

I'm becoming numb to displays like Giroud's today tbh. I think I've hit rock bottom, I'd honestly take Chamakh back at starting CF over Giroud. 100% serious. Hit up Palace throw them some peanuts and I'd have more confidence in us getting someone meaningful from the CF spot.

I may look back on this post in amazement but when you realize the 3rd placed Turkish side has a noticeably better CF than your club you get desperate. :smh:

Actually he did score against Everton last year but Sanogo was wrongfully called offsides.
Idk if people are upset that Sanogo is injured but more so that him and the two other players are injured early in the season. Seeing that it happened so soon is really frustrating. I wish I wouldn't have to write it off as him and Gibbs being injury prone.

You're not wrong.....well maybe for the Chamakh statement  but Giroud is an okay CF and on his best days he can be pretty damn good. He scored 22 goals last season but no one is expecting him to get more than30+ goals in a season, at least in this league. I think he's done well in this system considering that he previously came from a system where he played as a secondary striker and that's more towards his strengths. He really isn't the lone striker type.

As I mentioned to my friend, we'll probably be struck with Giroud as our first choice for a while. We need a world class striker and there's only a small amount available. He's a good option off the bench.

Arteta looks like he's gonna be out for a few weeks.
Gibbs is out for 2-3 weeks.

We seem to lack physicality in the team. Other than Giroud we have no strong advanced players. Song could help with that. Not that its going to happen. Also think the team will settle in in 4-6 games.

Well that's been an issue for a while now. I was hoping that it would take us no more than 3 games.

Arteta looks like he's gonna be out for a few weeks.

It's hard to say if he can or not. I would imagine that he has become a bit more disciplined during his time at Barca.

just seems to me di maria wages demands are very high and real madrid just doesnt want to pay it. Stupid tho smh

Barca ban appeal denied. Ban starts Janurary 2015...

funny..you would think them knowing the possibility that they would have signed younger and better players at cb this window. Now for 2 years their pratically stuck

Remy Cabella looks a handful

Yup, Newcastle looked much better this time around. Cabella looks like he'll be integral to their success this season...
He single handedly saved Montpellier from relegation last season

Yup, he was immense for them. I'm glad that he moved. He's gonna be big for Le Toon. I do want to see Riviere do well too.

What's the Ben Arfa situation, currently?

I was just reading about that situation, and decided to revert back to this cause I'm not sure if anyone responded, but...

Seems like he had a huge fall out with Pardew and staff. The suits obviously sided with Pardew (that 8 year contract will do that though ), and he's been trying to force a move for himself back to France.

Pardew slammed the hammer down on him, even took away his jersey number :x and forces him to train with the reserves (didn't help that he showed up to training overweight).

I think Pardew isn't even going to allow him smell a transfer and just ride out his contract just out of pure spite.

I don't know how long his contract is for, but at 27, no where near first team action and with Cabella taking his place, his career in top flight footy could be over already.

Rumors starting that Barca will do a bunch of transfers this window that wont actually take place till summer (biggest name is Reus).

Mr. Rummenigge will have something to say about that, right after Klopp comes out stating how stupid and baseless these rumors are.

so your solution is to add more attacking flair? I do agree Di Maria would deff improve this side but there is a huge issue with keeping possession and our midfield linking up with Mata/Rooney/Etc.
The issues this past weekend had more to with with playing players way out of position (young was playing fullback for Gawds sake) which was a result of our horrible defending/injuries.. We lost two CBS this summer, one of which the board has known about for months ahead and no plans were put into motion? Forcing our new manager to revert to 3 at the back? Madness... Additionally herrera and Fletcher looked lost on Saturday.. We need steel and have needed it for sometime now... IF LVG fancies Strootman i dont mind waiting till Jan, but they should bring in NDJ and Song in the meantime. These areas can no longer be overlooked.. its laughable, "biggest club in the world" yet our summer transfers consist of Shaw, Rojo, and Herrera :smh:

I'm by no means saying that the central and defensive issues shouldn't be taken care of. In fact, you're preaching to the choir at this point.

I was just pointing out another issue with the lack of depth in players with pace at United, and now we just got rid of another one. I'm saying if that isn't addressed in this window either, that problematic area will also clearly show throughout the season.

I didn't think Barca would win their appeal with FIFA but I think they'll get it reduced by the CAS. As I said in the older footy thread, Barca broke the rules as it was written but I think FIFA needs to rewrite them & provide certifications for youth academies like La Masia which is clearly not exploiting young players.

I do know that some of the families who move from other countries to be near their son attending La Masia experience hard ships. Part of which are Spanish laws prohibiting or making it harder for these families from getting assistance, affordable housing, & jobs.

Even if the club loses the appeal, I think it's a good thing because it will force them to play the younger guys from the B squad. Enrique, Zubi, & Co really need to sit done & map out what they're going to do with the younger guys coming up.

There are a ton of young guys coming up that are outstanding prospects. Some of you may have seen Munir el Haddadi play in the friendlies recently. I liked what I saw from Sandro, Sergi Roberto, & Sergi Samper. The Croatian kid Alen Halilovic looked really nice. But you also have MFer Wilfred Kaptoum, CB Rodrigo Tarin, & a host of others.

The youth players I'm most exited about are center mid Carles Alena, another center mid Ayoub Abou, & Lee Song Woo.

I don't think Gerry is coming back to Barca at this point though.
