ADIDAS BBall Boost Thread - BYW, Crazy Explosive & Crazy Light & OTHER BBALL ADJACENT SNEAKERS

Yup, I'm right there with you!  All the big reviewers probably received their Boost shoes from adidas (or they just get lucky I guess), but it's harder for people to get them when they don't sell very well and stores are reluctant to carry them (only 2 stores here in Indy carry the Crazy Explosive, the CLB is a tad more widespread).

I might just look into getting the Clutchfit Drive 3 when they drop in price, or J Crossover II or 3, or something else that was praised for their cushioning.

You will not be disappointed with the J Crossover II mids. To this day its one of my favorite alltime cushions and i have had them ALL.

That white pk would probably be a dirt magnet. I saw how bad the white KD 9s get and I'd probably stay away from actually using those unless you want to  constantly clean them.

Definitely try different pairs.  The ONE PAIR of Rose 6s that had good Boost was the glowing aurora colorway.  That Boost was insane, but I had to take them back.  Every other experience has been crap.  So I guess, yes, there are that many bad pairs floating around unfortunately.  That's why you sparingly sometimes see those people who say "I don't know what the hype about Boost is..." is because they've experienced the bad pairs floating around.  I remember reading that adidas actually admitted that there is some "bad Boost" out there because this is relatively new for basketball so they haven't gotten it down 100% or something.

Whatever the case, they need to fix this because they lost a sale from me because of it.  Even when the Boost feels good initially, you're still not guaranteed that for the life of the shoe.  My Rose 6 is a perfect example; started off AMAZING, and within only 2 mons they're hard as rocks, whereas other people are still playing in the Rose 6 because the Boost is fine.
Thanks for the response I agree they need to fix this. I think I'm gonna try the black primeknit CE & hopefully I get a good pair!

CEs came in from Amazon. I definitely prefer them over the CLB 16, but IDK if I can call them the Bball version of a UB.

boost don't feel like ub boost?
I know that its still needed for basketball purposes, but I think that the upper and the rubber
surrounding the boost is still a bit too restrictive for the claim. Its closest so far no doubt. I'm sure they'll try less reinforcement as the model series goes on. They're on the right track IMO.

sweet!

want that black pair so bad...

now where to buy them in person so I could try on and not worry about returns...?

View media item 2195485Slept on these and had to go a full size up. Got 15% discount code as well so pretty happy with the price. Bit of room in the toe box, but the lockdown and fit feel great. Really looking forward to playing in them tonight.
Wait you went a full size up from your true size? Just curious how that works. I went with my true size on the red CE and I had a bit of room in the toe box. Is that how it is if a person has wide feet?

^^ copped a couple of pairs of the CE. Went TTS and 0.5 Up for the other, and I feel like I could do with a full size up.

I swear my pinky couldn't even breathe on both sizes. I guess the material will loosen over time since its PK.

Just double sock it bro! It's not a huge difference in size.

I got a size 14 but my left big toe (juuuust slightly longer than my right foot) hit the end of the shoe. Bought a 15 and it feels fine. I have narrow feet too.

IMO these CEs fit exactly like Ultraboosts. They run a little snug and short. I wish Adidas would get their **** together in terms of sizing. I also noticed that the heel actually felt really tight in the 14, whereas the discomfort was alleviated with the size 15.

I'm normally a 13 but can go to a 14 if needed. I didnt get the chance to try a sz 13 but played in the 14 last night and they felt great. Laced them tight and loved them. Feel like a lightweight, more cushioned kobe 9 high.

Has anyone here tried to uncaged these things? I'm thinking of a more minimalist approach - it's from the CLB 2016
You can probably get away with it for casual wear if you REALLY have to uncage it. But I think for basketball, without those two plastic pieces, it might eventually wear down the lace hole since it's not reinforced eyelets.

Not criticizing at all. Just something I figured would be worth considering.

Reviewers I trust, that buy shoes from a store, are on record saying the CE cushion is on the hard side.  I tried on two pairs (here in Indy as well, Champs in the greenwood mall), and while they felt good, they were no where close to what some other reviewers are claiming.. to the point where something has to be going on.  There is no way in hot hell that someone could step into the CEs I tried on and claim they provide good cushioning in the forefoot compared to anything with a half way decent zoom setup.  I ended up getting a pair of HD16s for $47 less because they felt a lot better under my forefoot.

You know, I agree. I tried on a red pair in store and while the forefoot didn't feel hard, it did seem rather thin. I ordered a black pair anyway just to see if the cushion is any different or more like what the reviewers claim. If they're still thin, I'll just send them back.

^I thought I was hearing reports of how the CE was pretty minimal up front. Maybe I missed those other reviews. I can see how this would be disappointing, but I also like the aspect of getting some boost while still having good court feel. Still need to try these on to see...
