Thread about Jesus - Questions, Bible Verses and Prayer Requests

God, Jehovah, Buddha, the Fonz

It really doesn't matter what you call the higher power. The purpose is to be a better human. The quran, bible, and just about any other religious text teaches the same thing more or less. If people spent more time trying to be a better person as opposed to arguing who's God is the real God, maybe the world wouldn't be in such dissent.

Just my two cents.

This is true. But there is also something to be said for getting to know your creator, no?

Those words do not appear in the bible.

Even if they did the proceeding verse states that the 'spirit, water and blood' are witness bearers. Implying that there are 5 witness bearers who are all "one"; does this now mean that God is 5 in 1?

So, again where in the bible does it state that the father, son, and holy spirit are all part of a single godhead?
....what? I'm looking at my bible right now and those words are right there. The proceeding verse says:
This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

It says plainly, in verse 7 that there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Post where you are not seeing this said.
You never responded to the earlier posts. I was genuinely Interested in hearing your response. I'm not trying to call you out and completely understand if it's something you're not comfortable with discussing on an Internet forum.
What were the earlier posts? If I can answer it I will, it just may take a while. I'm at a convention this week and responding in between seminars and sleep.

Trinity isn't in the bible. That's....yeah

The Jews did not have a concept of a trinity either

Deuteronomy 6:4

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Look up 'The Johannine Comma'.

How will we ever really know God though? People are called crazy when they speak like they've conversed with God, so it wouldn't be believed regardless. All I'm saying is whether you call yourself Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist, just be a better person.

I guess that's where we have to investigate all the so called sacred texts.

The interesting part is that most of the major ones reference, or have their genesis in the bible.

You're putting full and compete faith on something you don't even "really know"??

Now THAT is crazy

During bible study yesterday the pastor mentioned that in order to be a Christian and enter the Kingdom of Heaven, you have to spread the word and convert hearts. Is this a common belief throughout Christianity? I can get behind learning the word of God, but I don't see myself reaching out trying to convince other people, ie, my family to convert to Christianity.

No, this is not true. To get into the Kingdom of Heaven you must accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

But what is true is that the last thing/mission Jesus gave to us is to go and make disciples/spread the word. This is called "The Great Commission" in Christianity.

If you truly love Jesus, then you love everything he did ,everything he loves, and will obey everything he said.

So here's my ? where is the kingdom of heaven located?

When you separate yourself from nature, it seems random.

But when you realize that we are a part of nature, then it makes perfect sense that the best things for us... come from nature.
So we are connected to the earth?
As much as any other species that relies on gravity, oxygen, and the other species on earth, yes.

The more educated a person is, the more they realize that. We are not an alien species visiting someone else's home.

I know I sound like some ridiculous, free-loving tree hugger, and I remember when I used to hear people talk like me and I would write them off as.free-loving, ridiculous tree huggers.

Chill with the insults. Even if you don't believe a god I doubt you'd wanna live in a world where people are ignorantly criticized for their beliefs
It's 104 pages with the same judgmental, google scriptures rhetoric.

And spare with me the "I'd doubt you...blah blah"

THAT IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN...want to know who IS THE MOST CRITICAL?  Christians.

DurrtyRaspberry is insulting all of our intelligences with his condescending responses.

Debunk agenda, no learning wanted.

I've read about Jesus probably about as much as any Christian in here. The difference between you guys and myself is that it doesn't matter to me if Jesus existed. His story of love and compassion is one for the ages and something I will always embrace.

2 questions id really appreciate if they were answered:

1. Where is the kingdom of heaven?

2. Why is it you guys think there is so many stories that predate Christ with similairities? I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything with this question. Just genuinely curious on y'all's perspective.

So its cool to call others dumb in every thread other than this one?
