GREY MARKET DISCUSSION THREAD VOL. 2!!! (LET'S KEEP THE DISCUSSION MATURE) RULES ON PG 1 PLEASE READ

I've bought lots of GM pairs and here's what I think.

I think that it's made in the same factory but for some reason, the materials used on some parts are different.

It's very minor, like the stitching on the inner sole, the OR came with white stitches, but the GM came with black stitches. Another thing is the paper and the red plastic film that came with the Jordan 11 "Bred", the hue of the red film is slightly different and the texture and the thickness of the texts on the paper are darker.

The J5 Black Grapes are perfect though, except the stitching on the shoes itself wasn't stitched meticulously, and there was a slight different on the hue of the icy sole.

One time, I even received a box that says "Prenium Crafted Performance Inspired by the Greatest Ever." It's supposed to be "Premium".

The J1 Black Royal that I received were blatant fakes.

The red on the Toro 4s were darker than the OR, but it's an ER so...

The weird thing is that some of them came with stamps, and others look exactly the same as the OR. No difference at all. I get everything from the same source.

thank you, now i'm not the only one here buying gm's that indeed have matched correctly with the retail version
Are you sure about that? Or do you only read selectively the parts that make you feel better? Every shoe he mentioned had differences. The black grapes were the closest ones and still had differences. Notice how he said the stitching was sloppy in comparison? Notice how I mentioned that as a major tell of GMs? Cmon son, pay attentinon. Stop reading and comprehending selectively. Learn something. We are imparting MAJOR knowledge to you, and you're letting it bounce off your thick skull. Let that ish seep in.

My favorite argument from the last thread

"GMs look EXACTLY like real pairs.......... The only difference is......."

So they don't look exactly the same then.

Then there's the "they come from the same factory and are made by the same workers".

We ask how do they know that....... They say "because they look exactly the same".

Yea, I get that. I know which ones are fake because of the video. What I'm saying is, if I decided to buy a pair of 11 lows today I'd buy either or.

When I bought my Concords in 2011 or whenever they came out, they had the milky soles. and I bought those from the Finishline I worked at.
Yup. and the GM pairs often were way too see thru. But one thing is GENERALLY common. GMs are waaaaaaay sloppier in execution. Do you wanna GM pair that's most likely gonna have one or all of the issues associated with GMs? YOu really want a pair that has a completly different looking sole? You don't mind widows peaks and sloppy stitching?

Plus GM concords will have other obvoius issues. LOTS OF THEM.

JB quality is bad enough. I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay MORE for an EVEN CRAPPIER execution. Not only are materials and colors OBVIOUSLY different, but the overall stitching, gluing, etc.....is gonna be worse. Son up there straight bought a pair that said "PRENIUM" instead of "PREMIUM".

You wanna spend 2 fiddy on that? Go ahead. I'd rather spend a little less on the real thing.

The DB4s were blatant fakes as well. Stay away.

Closest to Retail

1. J5 Black Grapes

2. OG 88

3. BC3

4. J11 Bred

No, I definitely do get what you're saying. Personally one of the reasons I stopped collecting was due to JB quality. I figure these GM pairs can't be much worse.

But yea, sneakers are a thing of the past for me.

Oh yes. they are worse....much worse. Believe that.

LMAO

On the real, I've seen some GMs that look better than the retails.
This is true....but as a whole, it's not happening. It's like saying, I've seen some white guys play basketball that are better than a lot of black people. Or, I've seen black guys play hockey better than white guys. Sure, there is Kevin Love, and Dirk Nowitski. And sure, there is PK Subban on the Montreal Canadians in hockey...but cmon man.

My thing is show me a true gm. From what I've seen there's authentic, then super fakes. If you're versed in knowing what you're looking for you can see the difference. I do think gm's exist, but they def aren't as prevalent or available as we think.

Okay let's say I brought GM's that are not real. I made a payment through a paypal invoice, so how covered am I really?
I think some dude on here said you could actually keep the fake pair and file a claim and get your money back as well.

I am guilty of this.

Truthfully, even with a side by side comparison I can't tell which are which.

If I were still into sneakers I'd be all about the GM.
the thing is your going to be paying lil bit over retail after getting GM'S shipped if you order through websites. These fake sellers tho going to get you for at least 260-350.

No man your wrong. There's plenty pics of GM shoes, just take a look in this thread http://niketalk.com/t/581329/12-2014-air-jordan-11-retro-white-black-legend-blue-378037-117 they're very prevalent, and flooding the market and have been for sum time now.

This thread as it's currently constructed isn't going to help much if at all. Just cluttered with a bunch of back and forth.

Basically the only thing you can do is show side by side comparisons and show people the difference and let them decide. Dudes who want GM pairs or don't care will defend GM pairs....Just help the dudes who WANT legit/retail pairs get informed.

WOW you're ignorant. They're everywhere. Just quickly scanning thru the pics posted above of those GM concord 11s. I quickly noticed the overstuffed, super puffy collars, and the bad patent leather cut around the toebox, as well as the stretched 23.

Just because you don't know what you're talking about, doesn't make it not exist.

The point of this thread is too help members to tell the differences and hopefully how to avoid GM's. Any suggestions on how to make this thread better is appreciated.

Nah...I don't think so. Read below what I quoted myself saying earlier.

It's still good for those that are neutral or undecided yet to see both sides of the argument. Those with good reading comprehension and decent critical thinking skills can tell who knows what they are talking about, and who doesn't.

It's not about convincing the GM fanboys, its about exposing their ignorance for everyone else reading.

Think about all of the people that read the last GM thread without posting and continue to read our legit checks in the legit check section.

At first they were prob like "i don't see the differences". But now, you'd have to be straight stupid to not see them. It's way more obvious to us now, even though the GMs are closer to the real thing than they've ever been. The flaws are too consistent to ignore.
AND, as I mentioned, as releases occur, we can compare them, IN THIS THREAD to the GM pairs so we know what to look for and what the differences are. I dont think anyone would have know the sole on GM concord 11 lows was that inaccurate till AFTER the retail pairs dropped. Once they dropped, now we can compare. This will work for upcoming sport blue 6's...history of Jordan 6's drop very soon, sport blue 3's in two weeks.

This thread will be helpful for those who struck out on release date, and are looking to score thru facebook, instagram, Ebay, and craigslist. We'll be able to compare pics of release date pairs to pics of GMs.

We've never had a tool like this before.

Thoughts on GM, after discussion with my longtime friend who works at NIKE.
1. Never understand why people compare a retail version shoe against a GM pair? If I compared 2 retail pair against each other you will see a difference between the two pair. I would love to see an comparison with a recently restocked jordan 11 bred and release date version.

2. So did you guys ever think that all these restocks/B-grades releases are from the same factory as what we think is the GM?

3. Example; Jordan brand bids a contract out to a couple of factories to make 3,000 pairs of Jordan 12s. They have one factory make 2,000 pair and another makes 1,000 pairs. During production they go out and see which factory is making the best and if the shoe is coming out the way they want. If JB makes the visit early in the production and decides they don’t like something about the 12s, they will stop production and start making the “tweeks” to the shoe that JB wants, resulting in 100s of 12s that have minor flaws but not what JB wants(GM). The factories end up making 4,000 and 2,000 pairs each of the Jordan 12s just so JB can come and pick thru the shoes to grab the best 3,000 pair out of the 6,000 that was made. Whenever JB wants to do a restock or have a promotional release they know that they have 3,000 pairs of Jordan 12s(GM) sitting around in a factory and the restock isn’t going to be big enough for us to notice the flaws. The workers at the factory are taking some of those pairs and selling them on the side and if JB makes the call for the 3,000 they have templates in place to make the shoes on demand. Yeah some of them have flaws because JB left them for a reason, but some don’t......

We are all pointing our fingers at the GM but truth be told JB figured out a clever way to get rid of the flawed shoe that used to be known as factory “B-grades” and sold for 50% off at a Nike outlets. If Jordan Brand had an outlet release tomorrow for Jordan 11 black and red restock, and all of the pairs sold were flawed nobody would complain or even post about it.

people who want the truth will like this thread/ jordan brand sheeps who think that JB can do no wrong will try and shut this thread down. Nike been getting over on factories for years why is it hard to imagine a person that works for a factory is trying to get over on JB and sell left over pairs?

You are greatly misinformed. There is a HUGE difference between flaws found on retail Jordan 11's, and the consistent similar flaws found on Jordan 11's.

There is a reason why we are quickly able to decipher between a retail pair of JOrdan 11's whether they be from original release or a restock, versus GM pairs.

The GM pairs all have similar flaws that you don't find on retail pairs.

Find me a retail pair of 11's with super puffy collars and a rounded off phylon midsole in the back. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Meanwhile, i can show you literally HUNDREDS of GM pairs that all have those two exact same flaws. Coincidence....yeah right.

You see, your argument would have worked a year and a half ago when we didn't know EXACTLY what to look for on every single model 1-14. All we knew is that they looked "off", because they were. But now, we have specific flaws that are exclusive to GMs, and not found on retail pairs. So your point makes no sense.
