Moving from Los Angeles to Glendale/Phoenix Arizona for school - any tips/recs?

Just moved out here last Sunday and aside from meeting new people and playing some pickup bball, I've been pretty bored out of my mind.

Any tips from the locals on what to do, eat, or see?

Midwestern?

Mill Ave, Scottsdale and Westgate have plenty to do
