It's both man. While guys in offense have improved guys on defense have not improved. Guys like artie have made a few plays this last game but have been beat plenty of times this season. Corn elder is probably our best DB right now. Tracy took one bubble screen to the house last year against VT and that's where pretty much all his success came from on them. Sure he had a few but weren't that successful. Deon has had his ankles completely broken a few times this year trying to come down and make a tackle at the line and just miss completely. I seriously haven't seen him make an open field tackle once this year. Most of it is due to him being so deep he has to run full speed in to make a tackle and the simplest move is gonna beat you. The kids are in the wrong place so there gonna fail which leads to regression.

McCord would be better if they didn't have him on slot recievers. They had Trent Harris in the end zone last week covering somebody while they were on like the 20.

McCord & Armbrister have definitely improved imo

They definitely have. Which is why the development argument is overblown to me. Bush seems undisciplined and maybe asked to do things that aren't his strengths. Coley is in a funk. Howard was just an overrated prospect. Gunter and Elder have developed just fine. Burns has the highest ceiling of them all.

Just because they've 'improved' doesn't make them good.

This teams defense has been a dumpster fire for the past 4 years. I don't know why people are shocked/outraged about it? What the hell did anyone see to give you any hope of it getting better going into the season?

I also believe Carter should be over fentress. There's no way in hell that kid is better then Carter.

I've asked statis this on Twitter, but would like y'all to get in on the discussion.

I contend that the top teams in the SEC West being both schools in Mississippi and Alabama would finish top 2 in any of the power conferences. Discuss.
Mississippi schools, Bama and Auburn IMO. Top to bottom the West division is better than any conference.
I disagree.

You're mistaking parity for dominance.

Just because the SEC west beats up on each other doesn't mean they're better than any other conference. The Pac 12 has been doing it too, but you don't hear anyone claiming Oregon, USC, UCLA, ASU, Zona, or Stanford would top any other conference.

Bama can't score with any of the top teams in the Pac or Clemson or FSU or poss even Georgia at full strength...

And do we really know that Ole Miss is that good? Their defense is awesome, sure but Bo Wallace is still dr jekyll and mr hyde. He played well against Bama, but it's not like he's really showed out at any other point this year except vs a turnstile TAMU defense. He's still just as likely to throw a pick 6 as he is to throw a td.

Arkansas should have beaten Bama yesterday. Their own holes kept them from doing it, but Bama isn't that good. You've got Amari Cooper and then...? Yeldon hasn't necessarily even been the best back in his own division...

And certain people in this thread have been saying that Auburn was overrated ever since the KSU game. People just didn't want to hear it because they have their SEC ear muffs on.

Same people who were still calling LSU a good team...

Or that thought South Carolina was a good win...

The top of the SEC West is good. But so are the top 2 teams in the Big 10, and the ACC, and the top 2-5 whoever they are in the Pac 12, and do you really think Bama would beat OU or Ok State?

Would they even beat Baylor at this point with how shaky their secondary looks? TCU?

Dre, if you love something let it go.

That boy's heart isn't with your team. Let him go where he's wanted.

I dont care where they rank Oregon cause if we win out we will be in the playoffs PERIOD

That Arizona loss not looking so bad. Its the best thing that could have ever happened to us.

It happened early and was to an unranked team at the time at home and gave us that needed wake up call

How about you go shove it. Just because you win a national title you think you can find the good in everything?

There's NOTHING good about this defense :rolleyes

Btw. Sup dre?

My man YB.

I'm maintaining man, what's good w/ you?

Rashad Greene broke the FSU career receptions record Saturday vs Syracuse (Currently at 215, Record was 212 by Ron Sellars, who did it in 3 yrs vs Rashad's 4). WR yardage & TD's is in reach as well as long as he stays healthy

Nick O'Leary broke the career Receptions, Yards & TD's records for TE's @ FSU as well (Insert FSU TE Joke here)

That '11 recruiting class :pimp:

The difference is that the Pac 12 hasn't dominated college football for the better part of the last decade. Beating up on conference foes means more when your conference is full of teams that are ranked in the top 10 or 15. Oregon and Arizona State still have legit chances at the playoff but the rest of those schools are out, including Zona cause I'm sure no one expects them to win out. The top 4 teams in the SEC West have 2 losses between them and the losses came to the 1 & 2 teams in that division and they happened to rank #1 and #3 in the country. You gotta see the difference.

Bowl results say the Pac 12 is pretty good...

And how are the rest of the teams definitely out except ASU and Oregon, when USC is in first place is in the south and Oregon hasn't even played Stanford or UW yet?

This is my point. Every team in the SEC prob has 1 more loss left on their schedule. You call that conference dominance. The Pac12 shows parity throughout and that any team can beat any other team and you confuse that for mediocrity and lack of strength at the top.

There's an SEC bias to that.

And the mistaken notion that there's any one dominant team in the country. There isn't. When Ole Miss and MSSU lose (and they will; their teams have big flaws on the offensive side) then we'll revisit this conversation. But don't tell me they lost because the SEC West is full of the 7 best teams in the world.

And Zona prob beats ASU this year.

FWIW, I don't think Mississippi State or any SEC West team is going undefeated. We very well could lose to Arkansas or even Kentucky... both those schools are much improved.
I'm rooting for Dak, but Mississippi State is losing at Tuscaloosa. Even with a relatively weakened Bama squad.

Ole Miss could very well lose two of three at LSU, at Hogs, and/or vs. Auburn.

Bo Wallace would have to go full on Bo Wallace (which is entirely possible) for them to lose @ LSU

Where is my guy StickyRicky (I think that was his SN) to enjoy this rise of Ole Miss?
